  1. and nobody said it was going to be perfect or fair. i'm in agreement that not getting UI because of vaccine status was unfair. and we'll never know how much the government policy was to "force" vaccination opposed to attempting to stave off millions of UI claims from people looking for a UI holiday. UI has gotten harder and harder to get and for good reason... not like the good old days when my friends would work just enough to get UI and then quit and do this perpetually. but my original argument still stands. people don't have a right to work anywhere, especially if they are going to endanger the business.
  2. yeah, interesting. there's no end to that stuff. there's an interesting European documentary about US survivalists in the midwest thats easy to find. the survivalists were all dedicated Republicans and fiercely anti government. and every one of them "survived" on social security cheques!
  3. hahaha! i'm no exactly sure what that means but i love it... its so scifi!
  4. well other conservatives on the forum don't seem to agree that this is the only problem. it's mostly a socioeconomic problem. its reflected in many sub populations throughout history. and its a tough argument to blame all of it on modern Democratic policy. the party that has a far better record in policy to support workers rights, minimum wages and pushes for educational and economic diversification to at least get black people properly represented in the american dream. what has the GOP done working stiffs the last 20 years? i'm listening. its not nothing but... not much either. but black people know who are trying to make things more equitable for them and are supporting safety nets that only poor people have to rely on. rural whites do not know whats going on. i've seen so many interviews on line of poor rural people having medical insurance for the first time under the Affordable Care Act, knowing that Trump wants to get rid of it (remember he tried before but was blocked by his party because he didn't have anything to replace it with) but still supporting him. and so he says he's going to have something much better. he says a lot of things. yet he has no plans. like solving the Ukrainian with a phone call. again, again, again... Trumps only major signature policy passed: Tax Cuts and Jobs Act i note that "conservatives" have yet to even touch this piece of legislation.
  5. i agree with everything you say. the brunt of which is... if a subgroup of the population is poor. they will remain predominantly poor without intervention. so the question around racism becomes... when one race is predominantly rich by population and another is not then is that racism? some make the argument that south african aparthied was racist and yet it was almost entirely economic segregation. i've maintained on this forum that "conservatives" here are entirely "social conservatives" with little interest in economic issues. and yet, REAL politics is ALL economic. money does not care what race people are. if people want to insist that aparthied is not racism but is still bad then i'm all for it. because that means something is still wrong when a population is somehow prevented, through policy or lack of economic equity, to thrive. to me, this is the MAGA movement. not poor black inner city populations but rural poor whites who also have not had access to the american dream. is it MAGA that are blaming the black poor by claiming that they have everything they need to succeed? how ironic. and yet, how perfect for the status quo of the wealthy class. there's nothing like getting your enemy fighting against themselves. and not giving offer any solutions aside from protection from "woke" values.
  6. i always find it amusing when you ask people who won't wear masks whether they are going to be ok with medical staff not wearing masks next time they are in the OR having surgery. i'm not actually fine with forced vaccination. but thats not what was happening. anti-vaxxxers claimed that they were being forced because otherwise they could not work, could not shop or go out in public. they could got outside... nothing was stopping them from doing that. and then they claimed that their rights were being take away. when actually, they were attempting to take other peoples rights away. when you operate a business and there is a chance that one of your employees could infect your whole workplace and even customers... then you have the right to protect your business. employees do not have the right to work at a place, especially if they will possibly cause harm to that business (stealing money for example). same goes for customers. a business owner should be able to prevent a customer from coming endangering their business by infecting their staff and other customers.
  7. great answer. so my question to others is... what are those other things?
  8. i apologize if i gave the wrong impression that language is not important. it is. but is this the biggest issue? is this the most pressing concern for black communities? de-montivational language? and thats the whole problem? nothing else could possibly be to blame?
  9. Trump asking the director of the FBI to sign a pledge of allegiance. the first signal of the world to come?
  10. you've had your say now let others speak. is the this the general consensus among "conservatives" that statistically black people are more poor and have less access to health care and education due to "de-motivational" speeches given to them by people who support the democratic party?
  11. i laughed out loud. anybody else? is the this the general consensus among "conservatives"? that statistically black people are more poor and have less access to health care and education due to "de-motivational" speeches given to them by people who support the democratic party? i'd also be happy to see cites of GOP policies that have been proposed to help black impoverished populations. but its mostly stuff like the following. Mississippi Republicans pass bill to create separate, unelected court in majority-Black city
  12. you seem to miss the point. what the argument by some is that segregated socioeconomic conditions lead to these outcomes. this is common knowledge with many instances in many countries. the fact that it is common does not make it the right thing to maintain. do explain to me why blacks are statistically less wealthy than other populations. have statistically less access to health care and education? i'm listening. and of course, cops kill more whites than blacks. its the proportion of the population that is the outcome of segregated socioeconomic conditions. this is really old school science. and there is a push to have policing carried out by people of colour in neighbourhoods of color to ensure that there isn't anything nefarious going on in policing. imagine a world where only black cops patrolled white neighbourhoods.
  13. its just a question... that anyone, including yourself are open to answer. if you think that a certain answer answer implies racism then now is your chance to answer in a manner that proves you are not. but of course, then you have to somehow say why it is that blacks communities are more violent and suffer more police cause fatalities. go ahead and school me on that one please.
  14. there is no reason to call me names. i didn't call you a name. i was just asking a straight forward question. when you say.. "we should see the number of blacks killed by cops and whites outpacing those killed by other blacks" could you please elaborate? why do you say that as fact? the reason i ask is that death suffered by police action is far far lower in all racial groups than by members of the public. so... what you say doesn't make sense to me. unless you can cite some figures.
  15. sure. and whites are more likely to be killed by whites. because the vast majority of homicides are between people who know each other. violence has nothing to do with socioeconomic status... blacks are lazy and violent by nature, right? i mean... thats what you are saying right?
  16. Trumps solution to Putin... EU pay up. nothing else. not a glimmer of disgust with the mass murderer.
  17. Free Speech Union 'The organisation was founded to counter cancel culture,[4] and was "established to counter Twitter mobs that drown out opinions they dislike", according to The Times. Its directors say it will be the beginning of a solution to the "censorship problem". Young said that it should take on the "witch-finder generals" and the "enforcers of intellectual conformity and moral dogma"' yep, when people have a preconceived answer they desire... there's always a place to find it on the internet. more black people are shot and locked up by police every year because... they lazy and violent creatures. right?
  18. this will be the end of democracy for awhile in the US as democrats win cycle after cycle for some time now that the guardrails of their most extreme supporters vanish. MAGA will continue try and end democracy the other way... by defacing it. because thats the only way that it can even compete. McConnell to step down as Senate GOP leader the GOP sucked in 2018, 2020 and 2022 thanks to MAGA. do the math.
  19. Cult "typically led by a charismatic and self-appointed leader, who tightly controls its members, requiring unwavering devotion to a set of beliefs and practices"
  20. isn't it funny how whatever Putin insinuates... becomes a GOP talking point. never would i have imagined i'd live to see US foreign policy dictated by a Russian mole. GOP senators signal that only way out of Ukraine-Russia war likely is ‘negotiated settlement’ Leaders gang up on Speaker Johnson at ‘intense’ White House meeting its amazing what a phone call from the Russian mole can do... Johnson only two months ago said that Russia cannot be allowed to win. Speaker Johnson: US ‘can’t allow Vladimir Putin to prevail in Ukraine’ The far right has replaced the old left as Russia’s propaganda tool Putin is over a barrel getting spanked... he wants it to stop, and Trump will give him that relief. the GOP are suddenly Russia lovers. Its not so bad there... where political opponents are murdered and Poland started WWII. not our problem. move along.
  21. i don't know why some of us are so drawn to desolate landscapes... i live in the pacific northwest and its beautiful but i fawn for the desert!
