  1. well, do illuminate us how inequality of wealth is meaningless in THIS context.
  2. ask yourself the question. why won't YOU give the the thread the accurate number? we know the answer. because the exact number doesn't matter if its a significant number at all. the rich are getting richer and the poor more poor. thats what you've bought into. drivin by your emotional response to the threats of Woke Culture.
  3. the data is adjusted for inflation. but whatever. we'll move on to the thousands of citations from the people who measure this stuff. how about that "leftist" organization NASA? As the climate changes, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events are increasing. weather is getting more extreme quickly. in our lifetimes.
  4. 40k years ago a homo sapien Eve gave birth to children who would rule the earth. the Cognitive Revolution. mankind was able to associate in much larger numbers by identifying with a story. the story of the leader who caught lightning. a god. a fabricated belief system. religion/ideology. only in the last 1k years have humans discovered the ability to create a new story. one that is compared to the natural world. science. a new belief system. and a methodology that is self correcting in real time. but the old reason methods of humans identifying with each other will die hard. it must be so frustrating to actually try and debate using the very t schemas of scientific logic the fabricated belief systems of religion/ideology. but i digress...
  5. you don't look at citations? 2024: An active year of U.S. billion-dollar weather and climate disasters i can come up with endless citations to raw data on the matter. feel free to counter with something other than your belief system that someone else has curated for you.
  6. i'll adjust the number in the thread name. just give me the number. you're much smarter than i. what is the number?
  7. you really should address the huge blind spot you experience with your cognitive dissonance. climate disasters are happening at a very pronounced increasing rate. its the rate of change. its coming down our throats hard now and will only worsen. and its because of the greenhouse gasses that we dump into the atmosphere at ever increasing amounts. read that last paragraph twice if you have to. to get the point.
  8. no. i thought that was the number. is it not the number? you don't know? the post is not centered on the number. the number doesn't matter unless its a meaningless number. what is the number?
  9. exactly. its the ideology. the fabricated belief system. the failed religion. that gets a society to that place.
  10. are you suffering from Cognitive dissonance? i was wrong. i don't know where i got the number now. i don't know what the number is. i haven't even bothered to look. because it doesn't matter. its a number that you are afraid to give to me. because its still a huge number that is just getting lopped onto the federal debt. i'll go back and edit all of my posts with the right number. but the argument stands. whats the number?
  11. what? yeah, i don't get how any of that has anything to do with whether climate change is happening or not or to what degree. but yeah, the filthy rich are the only ones who are going to win. keep voting for them and their regressive tax regimes! what about the rest of what i said? 2024: An active year of U.S. billion-dollar weather and climate disasters
  12. was i wrong? i was probably wrong... so please correct me. whats the number?
  13. the climate denier echo chamber is all about "alarmist" climate stories. and there are those stories out there but thats not the story that science is telling. what the science says is that life will still exist on the planet for another billion years. but the next few hundred are going to be much different for humans. we have built our cities, infrastructure and agriculture to be sustainable given particular weather conditions. but even .5 degrees of energy added to something the size of our atmosphere is a lot of extra energy. that energy displays itself. everywhere on the plane the earth is experiencing record heat or record cold. we are having once in 50 year weather events every year now whether it be wind, water or lack of both. the amount of money that it costs the US is increasing logarithmically. mankinds dumping of carbon into the atmosphere is going to be very expensive. a lot of stuff is going to get destroyed. humans will be able to build back in most places but the building will have to be far more resilient and far more costly. i've lived most of my life in british columbia. this year i am seeing flowers bloom in the middle of winter. i saw a damned dandelion flower a few days ago! unbelievable how quickly this is happening.
  14. whats the number? whats the number? correct me... give me the number. i could be very wrong. so correct me. are you being hesitant because... its a number in the trillions? and its not paid for but just lopped on to the national debt? yes, corporations are immortal beings that live forever. let me tell you about my experience having made all of my money from a corporation. note that i am a Canadian but i know the US system has similar perks. I OR MY FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE NOT PAID PERSONAL TAX IN 25 YEARS. taxed at source is slavery. there are so many write offs and loop holes available for those who derive their sustenance from a corporation and i don't have to do anything... my accountant does it. for example: 1) write offs. my breathing is a write off. i try and write off everything. my accountant is the gate keeper here. taxed at source stiffs get NO write offs. 2) I CONTROL final income. at the moment as far as the CRA is concerned, i'm dirt poor. i get all of the perks of being poor. and i split the income with wives, children, the house cleaner, the gardener, the dog... they all work for me, we're all poor living in a multi million dollar house driving exotic cars that the company owns and gets write offs for depreciation. secondary properties i only have to rent out to a friend for one night and they are a business that loses money! i can spread my income over a greater time period! sweet! taxed at source stiffs do NOT get to arrange how income gets dispersed and they do NOT get write offs for depreciation. 3) all of my investments are owned by my corporation, of course, and so subject to taxation of the capital gains percentage at the business tax rate and later dispersed to myself in a way that eliminates any personal tax implications. i could go on! so my effective tax rate is traditionally under 10%. thats 7% lower than the lowest tax rate for taxed at source stiffs. and i'm a little guy in this scheme! its a big fckin game. Feds push back in John Risley's multimillion-dollar tax battle can i suggest that you and many "conservatives" have the concept of "socialist" and "conservative" taxation absolutely ass backwards? don't worry its very common. a "socialist" tax system is a progressive tax system where the MORE money an individual makes then the MORE tax they pay as a percentage of their income (personal income for example). a "conservative" tax system is a regressive tax system where the LESS money an individual makes then the MORE tax they pay as a percentage of their income (sales tax for example). "conservative" governments always go after the progressive tax regime in a way that benefits the wealthy. thats their MO. "conservative" ideology places emphasis on the responsibility of the individual and the "conservative" story is that a head tax is the most appropriate tax system. this conveniently favours the richest individuals just like its designed to do. "socialist" governments do the opposite. "socialist" ideologies emphasis that its a society between borders and that everything in the end is owned by everybody. that everyone has a stake and that everyone is a share holder in the GDP. otherwise there is no reason to be a member of the society that can suddenly draft you to take a bullet in defence of that system. the basic economics is always going to be happier societies. when wealth distribution is off the charts then lean on the progressive tax system. return wealth to build infrastructure, public spaces and bring up the lifestyle of everyone. this CREATES markets because more people have disposable income. its not the income of the rich that sits in precious metals, equities or empty real estate. if wealth distribution gets too tight and GDP drops significantly then start rewarding the movers and shakers again to spark wealth creation. this is how the hole cake gets bigger.
  15. my favourite quote from this ideological dog whistle word salad from PP: "all socialist policies in practice redistributes from the working class to the super wealthy" hilarious! "ideologies are failed religions" - Jordan Peterson of course, that was before he started making big money from "failed religions".
  16. yeah. i participate on other political forums and its the same from Trump fans. utter silence! to Trump's benefit... he's thinking out of the box. if Trump is to be believed, then JT definitely dropped the ball on the old 51st state thing. according to Trump, JT said that Canada would dissolve with blanket tariffs. wrong answer! i mean, i can see that JT was trying to appeal to Trumps humanity. didn't work. i hope the next PM thinks out of the box too. like: - we don't need to spend 2% GDP on NATO. fck em. if we are going to be harassed by our allies into territorial submission. forget it. NATO doesn't need that much support anyways. a small force for grey areas and a doctrine of full nuclear response if any partner invaded. - we get out of NATO. we spend that money on our own nuclear deterrent. see how the Americans like that.
  17. oh they will be crying when the cuts to the programs they rely on start. i mean, unless they are not successfully convinced that it is necessary in order to fight Woke Culture. in that case, i guess they are celebrating Musk's multiple leaps in wealth! hooray! i'm not a member of the 1%. but i'm doing very well these days off of everyone else's work, thank you.
  18. the 1.5 was a typo. you give me a number. whats the number that Trump tax cuts remove from federal revenues? i never said that ONLY the rich benefit. the rich benefited the MOST. by far. who else got a 40% cut in their tax rate? concentration of money in few hands means concentration of power. concentration of power means a society ruled by oligarchs. concentration of power leads to autocracy. Russia is a great example. wealth inequality is off the map in Russia. and thus, all the pillars of democracy; elections, journalism and the judiciary are all shams. and while this is all fine for the oligarchs. its very bad for the economy. it damages economic sustainability and growth. Russia is the biggest country on the earth, is the second largest oil producer and has an economy the size of Spain. does any of this sound familiar? Trump constantly attacks elections he doesn't win, the media that doesn't praise him, the judiciary that doesn't rule in his favour. all with Musk by his side. his cabinet of billionaires. this is aside from the fact that societies with tighter wealth distributions are happier societies.
  19. my favourite quote from PP: "all socialist policies in practice redistributes from the working class to the super wealthy and i can prove it!" hilarious. just another liar. the whole conversation was a dog whistle word salad.
  20. gas heat is better than electric heat because its less itchy! the new faucets go drip drip drip! he's not always thinking like maintenance staff at Mar-a-Lago: Hezbollah was responsible for the Jan 6th riots... maybe. 20% tariffs on Canadian goods sold to the US are coming! Full Press Conference: President-elect Donald Trump from Mar-a-Lago he's not even president yet. four more years this circus!
  21. ‘But the fact that they don’t want us to take them over makes me want to invade,’ Jesse Watters snarked. ‘I want to quench my imperialist thirst.’ he should really get out of the house more. he claims that everyone in the world wants a US passport. Fox News star insists it’s a ‘privilege’ to be taken over by US — as Canadian official makes snarky counteroffer
  22. i agree. thus proving my point. that you are a member of a tyrannical cult. and uneducated and thus... poor. one of the cults minions.
  23. you're an old white guy. i know because those are the only people who still believe in the communist boogey man.
