  1. WTF?? Many boomers also work out regularily and are avid about their health. What a totally stupid statement. WRT the music industry - it is now exactly that - an industry. Producing cookie cutter bands with very little talent. Just little jingles to keep the proles humming away in their servitude. Orwell's description of popular music in his book 1984 was bang on. That's what happens when the suits take over - you get low quality mass produced crap - all appealling to the dumbed down masses. Bernays would be proud.
  2. Absurd? Not necessarily. Consider if you will, that the shorelines of the North American continent, especially on the Eastern shelf were exposed due to the lowered sea levels of the last glaciation and you wind up with much archeological evidence now burried under water. Also, keep in mind that as the glaciers retreated northwards they scoured the earth removing much evidence of was there during the glacial periods. It is also important to realize that even during the glacial events, there was ebb and flow of the ice, with corridors opening and closing and severity of climate also continually changing. Climate and weather are NOT static - nothing in the natural world is. So, with this in mind and noting that Atlantic sea ice would have also extended much farther south than present day, the ocean route from western Europe to the eastern coasts of NA would be quite short. If we agree and contemplate the movements of peoples across the southern Pacific to populate the western zones of SA, a much longer voyage, then reasonably we can make an educated guess that there may have also been population movement from the Western parts of Europe to the Eastern parts of NA. These may well have been seasonal - following migrations of sea mammals for food; etc. It is not beyond reason to think that temporary or even permanent settlements could have arisen, peopled by natives of Western Europe. As the ice sheets over the ocean recede, as well as those on land the journey would have been longer, and less likely. Those who perhaps stayed behind would have been assimilated with those who migrated from the other direction (Beringia, South Pacific etc). IOW - it is not absurd. People seem to forget about the land configurations and lowered sea levels during the last glaciation - as well as the paleoclimate involved. A little more Earth History in high school would do a lot of good for many.
  3. touche... Just wait, he'll drag the infamous Mufti up again (which of course is deflection and refusal to speak about the topic at hand!
  4. Your WaPo article aside, I think I have a little more faith in the Israeli sources I have been continually linking to. Since obviously you have not bothered to click on any of them (this is clear due to your comments) I will post one of the more recent news releases from B'TSelem: B'TSelem You can explore their site and perhaps then you may be actually ready to address what is clearly and undoubtedly collective punishment and a war crime.
  5. Seems a history lesson is due for you. No religion has the corner of the market on cruelty and violence. Short form, not insulting at all. However: Please adjust your shorts. The discomfort you are experiencing is caused by Grits. sure seems rather insulting to Liberals, known as 'Grits'...
  6. Does anyone remember the reports coming out of Iraq where various peoples' cars were being 'held' by allied forces, then upon returning them to their owners, it was found that suddenly explosives were packed into the vehicles, which could easily be remotely detonated? Something screams false flag here to me. (Recall the captured Brits dressed as Arabs with tonnes of explosives). Something is very wrong here, very wrong indeed. I also find it rather worrisome that four cables have been cut, reducing internet traffic across the mid east and India. Funny - but didn't the FBI silence a whack of Muslim internet sites just prior to the 911 fiasco? Afterall, another 'attack' on America would serve her master's wish for neverending war quite well. Divide, conquer, deceive...
  7. The siege of Gaza is Collective Punishment - and THAT is a WAR CRIME - period. The streets are overflowing with sewage and feces, as the pumps are no longer working due to the power cuts. The hospitals can no longer keep their patients alive and are faced with tragic decisions: Unplug the dialysis, or unplug the incubators (somehow I cannot see how a tiny newborn baby is a terrorist, or savage animal as some posters here seem to think). Almost 100 sick Gazans have died as a result of the blockade - as a result of the blockade. In January over 100 Palestinians (fighters and civilians - among them children) have been killed by IDF forces alone in Gaza (this is not taking into account the problems in the West Bank). These are the facts of what is happening NOW. From Uri's article, "Worse than a Crime' linked in my previous post: Avnery makes a good point here wrt the toy rockets landing in and near Sderot - it could stop tomorrow if the Israeli Admin really did desire it. Hamas has repeatedly offered a ceasefire, the most recent just a few weeks ago. A ceasefire is NOT what the warhawks in the Admin want - they want their little experiment over the lives of 1.5 million people to continue - to see how far a people can be pushed, to radicalize even further their beliefs and opinions of their oppressors. Read Avnery's The Great Experiment, written almost a year ago, to see how his 'satircal' piece has become policy with the inhuman creatures facilitating the starvation and oppression of millions of human beings - sorry jbg - all Palestinians are NOT terrorists, nor Animals - they are people, plain and simple. And meanwhile - illegal settlements and and Jewish only roads are still being built on Palestinian lands in the WB - there is no freeze, no attempt to dismantle them - they continue to grow as the indigenous people watch as their groves are bulldozed along with their homes. So, with all this happening, the inhuman siege on Gaza, the continued theft and destruction of Palestinian land and property throughout the West Bank one must really ask: Who is 'wiping' who off the map? Image of Land losses 1946 - 2000 I suggest those here who seem to think that the Palestinians have it peachy take a gander at these maps - they truly do tell a story and a very sad one for both peaceful, humane Israelis and the Palestinian indigenous peoples.
  8. As usual there is the normal misinformed responses from those who see only one side to this tragedy and make pathetic attempts to justify collective punishment. It's a known phenomena - look back 70 years to Germany. No difference. Par for the course on this forum - I am not surprised, nor am I dismayed, as it is totally what I would expect from the posters at this joint! For those lurkers and others who do have open minds I'll link the following articles by Uri Avnery. They sum up the situation very well: Worse Than a Crime Help a Ceasefire!! The Great Experiment *** I personally find it quite disgusting that so many here treat a people with such disdain - a People - not their government. By their standards it would be fine to wipe out the entire US for the crimes of their Administrations. You guys are really sad.
  9. This is NOT what you alluded to here: "the concentrations of carbon dioxide is damaging the ozone in the Arctic, exposing warming temperatures to the north. As well as temperatures rise, we see increase weather effect in high evaporation and ocean-born storms." Which is pure malarky on your part. How then do you explain that for the majority of our planet's history temperatures globally were far higher than what we see in this current 'ice house' world? Hmmmm? You do know that for hundreds of millions, perhaps billions, the poles were ice free? Let's just go back to the time of the Dinos - poles were ice free... hence WARMER. Yet it is quite clear that the ozone was still doing it's job - ie life was abundant on land and in the oceans. May I ask what kind of scientific training you have? Do you know anything about the climate history of our planet? Do you even know that there were numerous times in the past where CO2 levels exceeded what we experience today? You might want to look up mid pliocene warming - very interesting stuff. (Which of course cannot be blamed on human created CO2 emmissions). *shaking head*
  10. charterrights, You are confusing ground level O3 with stratospheric O3. You may want to review your links. These are for all intents and purposes two separate issues (in so much as anything within our expanded environment can be considered 'separate'). You are quite right that ground level ozone is considered a pollutant and leads to all sorts of problems, respiratory seeming to be the biggest. Yet, this really has very little to do with the stratospheric ozone layer itself - whose problems began with CFC's (chloroflourocarbons) which forced the breakdown of the O3 molecules in the stratosphere into O2 and yet another free Cl to start the cycle again: CFCl3 + hv ---> CfCl2 + Cl - Cl- + O3 ---> ClO + O2 ClO + O3 ---> Cl- + 2 O2 adinfinitum.... This is not the same as ground level ozone. You are mixed up and even stretching your hypothesis (ie link between ozone depletion and artic warming due to AGW) is certainly tenuous - considering so many other factors and variable in atmosphere/ocean/land interactions. It is far to simple to say that CO2 is the nasty cause of everything. It is the worst kind of science since it dismisses other factors which drive climate and weather patterns on this planet. Anyway, you may want to read up a little on the differences on ground level O3 and stratospheric O3.
  11. As usual a really intelligent response from the superposter, M.Dancer! Well done and Bravo! So, I must assume by your silence that you approve of starving a population to death, and lodging a siege against them in all aspects - medical, sustinence, fuel etc; ?? Hmmm? You think this is okay? Really?
  12. Okay, charter rights, Are you mistaking ground level O3 with that which is found in the stratosphere (Hint: Way way up)? I join the group (not usual for me) to ask for some kind of credible link between CO2 emmissions and loss of the Ozone in the Arctic. Now, wrt to the Ozone itself - one must ask the question if it is really needed at all in the polar regions where the UV penetration is very little. It would make sense that the ozone layer itself would be thinner here to begin with. I'm not saying there wasn't a problem with CFC's, just making an observation. (IMO the worry was that the holes and thin areas WERE expanding to dangerous proportions due to CFC's - but IMO the layer itself is most likely thinner by nature in these regions). Carry on...
  13. WTH??? That is most likely the most ridiculous statement I have ever read wrt GW! Thanks for the laugh....
  14. Well, it seems there has been some escape from the siege as thousands of Gazans poured over the Egyptian border near Rafah. It appears that the Egyptian government will allow the crossing in light of the humanitarian crisis occuring currently in the Gaza Strip, where 1.5 million people have been held under siege since the summer of 2007. Already we have seen over 65 people die due to the Israeli embargo on fuel and supplies - to hospitals and other aid organisations. Lack of fuel shipments, necessary medicines and the Israeli policy of not allowing anyone out of Gaza - even if it is for medical treatment elsewhere (Jordan, Egypt, Israel), has resulted in the early deaths of many, though the number is not important, the principle is. Even more have been wounded and maimed for life due to the constant shelling and destruction due to Isreali incursions and invasions of the Gaza Strip. How the world can sit silently by, all in fear of being labelled anti-semites if they raise their voice is beyond pathetic. Here a few headlines for those who dare not criticise the Israeli Administrations: Israel expects Egypt to 'solve the problem' of mass border crossing Palestinians blow up border and flood into Egypt srael, U.S. to boycott UN rights council meet on Gaza blockade (Imagine my complete lack of surprise! ) More Warnings Pour in for Israel to end siege of Gaza before 'total collapse' Head of ISA defines a terrorist as any Palestinian killed by Israel Read it and weep.
  15. Ahh, the caucus page hadn't been updated when I posted it above - thanks. Still though - fantastic showing for Dr. Paul! I was being somewhat sarcastic when I mentioned the UN etc - nevertheless both our lands need election reform. Can you be more specific as to what kind of reforms you advocate?
  16. You will think what we and our sponsers tell you to think!! ~ Modern Journalism's Motto Here Dancer you might enjoy this book, while it is satire it's certainly some of the best - VERY true to form: The Truth
  17. What he said... And quite well I might add...
  18. I missed that - I don't usually check those forums. Thanks for your moderator skills and pointing that out to me - I will cease and desist. Link? What are your thoughts on vote fraud? Open boxes in NH recount, missing ballots - seems par for the course these days in the US elections - perhaps someone should send in the UN and some other NGO election observers... and I'd welcome them here in Canada too btw.
  19. DrGreenthumb, did you happen to catch CBC Sunday (I don't usually watch it but was eating a late breakie and flipping channels around). Anyways... they did a bit on Emery's Extradition (I think the verdict is coming tomorrow?). It wasn't too bad. I gotta say, though not overly thrilled with Marc on a personal level, my hat goes off to him in his dedication to standing up for what he believes in and keeping true to his libertarian principles. IMO the DEA's prosecution of him is clearly motivated by political means - of this there is no doubt. The actions of our own administrations (both the Liberals and current Conservatives) is truly deplorable on many levels. It raises the question of the ability of our elected officials to exercise soveriegnty over our own people - let's face it he would NOT be being sent to what could amount to a life sentence in Canada for selling his seeds - thus there is certainly enough legal basis for withholding extradition under the current legal arrangements. This exposes our Justice department as being VERY weak willed with respect to standing up to the US on her rabid drug policies. I wish Marc luck - and if he is sent it will be a black day for Canadians. (Granted the media has been quite silent on this issue as well). This the charge is NON violent , has NO terror connections - no 'booga booga' - it is victimless and our gov has intervened for far worse offenders. If he's sent it a shame on all of us who believe in individual liberty and freedoms.
  20. Thank you Carinthia for bringing up this point - many seem to not even want to think about it - nor address it. If you are interested a good starting point on vote fraud is this site: Black Box Voting Many links on this site, and you can find some very good docs on google and youtube as well that demonstrate how easily these machines are tampered with. When exit polls vary widely from 'results' it should raise a big flag - a recount with a proper paper trail - done in public view is essential. We have the same problems happening here - don't kid yourselves.

  22. Oh this stupid reply feature - posts when I hit enter for a new line... That said, Guiliani (Mr. 911terror911terror) is toast - thank goodness. The guy is a slimeball - plain and simple. And, Bubber - Dr. Paul finished second in Nevada. Here are the numbers: GOP Results Nevada Guiliani (or I prefer Ghouliani since he has exploited to the nth degree the dead of 911, while allowing rescue personel to work in hazardous life theatening conditions - with full knowledge that being there would make them sick!) is at a deserved 4%. Here's hoping that he falls even further from his fear induced perch. WRT who has money - yeah Romney (Mr. Self Financed) is okies with the $$ - and yes the others are running out quickly - but Dr. Paul isn't. Funny how some of the 'so-called' leaders in this race are now actually picking up on some of Paul's points: Hitlery just said she'd 'review' nafta!! (LMAO!)
