  1. P*** off Scott - I read that article. Which does not negate that she DID draw some on there herself - MOST of them in fact. So what? Does that excuse her actions in your oh so clear worldview? How are those rosy glasses anyway Scotty? Save your dribble for someone who actually gives a shit about your opinion.
  2. Hi GostHacked, Just wondering if you have heard about the FBI raid on Liberty Dollar - apparantly in response to the issuing of Ron Paul coins. I know you follow his campaign - interested to your thoughts of the FBI doing this. To me - if it were really a 'money' matter would not the treasury be involved? So, is this simply harrassment on the part of the FBI? Regulated State Stealing perhaps? What of all those people who have ordered their coins, or have deposits? Interesting - from a frightful point of view. Google results - so you can choose which to read!
  3. Well it seems that Newfoundland is barring the use of tasers until further review - GOOD on 'em! Maybe cops are still cops out there on the Rock...unlike the paramilitary junta we are fostering elsewhere in the land. As well, the four officers involved in this sickening fiasco have been 'reassigned'. Hmmmm I wonder - does that mean if a whack someone with a shovel - knowing that it is possible but unlikely that I will kill him - I will simply be 'reassigned'? What garbage - all four should be treated as suspects in a murder investigation. How many folks get to keep their jobs when faced with such serious charges? Why have their names not been published??? What a joke - and folk wonder why others have NO respect left for the police. Sheesh.
  4. Well said and sadly true. Though you forgot sex - the other soother. It's marriage to violence lately is more disturbing than most realise. WRT Hollywood stars running for Pres - well it's like you said, as well as MountainMan: Name recognition. Easily marketable, easily controlled (afterall actors a good at taking direction - or they wouldn't be actors. Sort of a ready made human puppet - of course a pre-requisite for being a politician anyways. They're like actors who don't have any physically redeaming qualities ).
  5. That's what I think too. I hope she gets thoroughly put through the wringer (doubtful - as this will be buried until the next incident of incitement). Crying wolf only ever harms a cause - or is that what it is supposed to do? Seems there's a drumbeat about to instill further fear wrt racial/ethnic divisions and differences. Easier to rule by the 'divide and conquer' motto... Sadly this is not the only 'fake' attack. There have been many and all it serves is to diminish any actual crimes which do take place (no matter the ethnicity of the perp or victim).
  6. While I agree that NO one wants to have disruptive forces operating within one's own borders, and yes those who do want to cause serious shit should leave - this sort of rhetoric can lead to bigger problems as it condones a racist attitude. What of the Aussies who may harbour less than savoury ideals? Where's Rotten John going to send them? Tasmania? What of radical Christians, like End Time believers who want Armaggedon to have started yesterday? Where's Johnny going to ship them off too? Singling out one distasteful group and paying no lip service to others is NOT the way to fix this. Oh, and I'm in NO way airy fairy.
  7. Agreed, thanks for your response. It's pretty disgusting and certainly doesn't help the already volatile situation. These students should be charged and have academic measure taken.
  8. Just an addition to this Ron Paul thread (cuz I'm too lazy to find the other one and didn't want to start a new one). Good article on the Ron Phenonmena in Anti-War, for those interested: Why Are They So Afraid of Ron Paul? Neocons and sectarian leftists unite to smear the antiwar Republican Strange bedfellows indeed. From what I have noticed the neocons and the 'hard left' are on the same page wrt Dr. Paul. Meanwhile - dems, repubs and libertarians are flocking to Ron's message of non-interventionism, returning to the Constitution and taking America back from the riegns of neolibs and neocons.
  9. That pretty much sums it up. I heard about this years ago... I guess some things never change. Reminds me of an old Polish joke - which I cannot repeat in this forum.
  10. Getting this thread back onto topic, the Israeli attack on Syria, this article may interest some here (only some since many seem to have buried their heads up their *** as far as this whole topic goes). LINK *sigh* By way of deception...
  11. I could not resist: Christians in Jerusalem want Jews to stop spitting on them Lovely, and this has been going on for years. How nice.
  12. Police: Jewish GW Student Admits Putting Swastikas On Her Door WASHINGTON -- George Washington University officials said a Jewish student who complained about swastikas showing up on her door put them there herself. The student lives in Mitchell Hall, where half a dozen swastikas had shown up on her dorm room door in the past several weeks. University police set up a hidden camera. They said the girl admitted responsibility Monday. *** Why would anyone do such a thing? What purpose could this serve? I mean really? This isn't the first time a 'hate' hoax has occured. So, how should this stupid girl be punished? Her actions take away from anyone who has really experienced such vandalism and bigottry.
  13. Just a quick post to bring Dr. Paul's extraordinary fundraising day, this past November 5, into the discussion!! 4.2 million dollars in one day!! This should put to rest the smear campaign saying that all these 'bots' are responsible for the strong Paul internet following and poll results!! Cuz let's face it - bots have NO F***** money!! Way to go Dr. Paul!! Remember remember the 5th of November, The neocon treason and plot... I can think of no reason the neocon treason should ever be forgot!! ~author unknown Smashing success!! I only wish I could vote for him!
  14. Old,Bold and Cold: Thanks. I am curious to hear what you think. I know some 'old school' police officers and they wholeheartedly agree with LEAP's mission - in fact one of them joined because of my mentioning it to him. I look forward to your (hopefully unbiased) view of their opinions. Jack Cole is certainly worth listening too - easier than reading a huge amount of text!
  15. Drea - they say tobacco, with all its additives, is harder to quit than heroin.
  16. old bold and cold, I think you are missing the point of this thread. Whether Cannabis is a 'problem' or not, is the current method working? Put the differences aside and really think about that question. Once you have done that, you may well be surprised at what you see. Drug abuse, and I use the word 'abuse' on purpose, is rampant whether one considers 'legal' drugs or 'illegal'. Some people simply have problems. The questions boils down to: Is drug addiction, by definition, a health issue or a criminal one? Did you, Old Bold and Cold visit the LEAP site? If so, please let us know what you thought. If you read the article posted above, written by a long time police officer, what did you think of how corruption takes place during times of prohibition laws? You site all these studies which ask leading quesions. IOW the question is dictating the outcome. It may well be that there are harms associated with Cannabis use, but then there are harms associated with all other things we put in and do to our bodies, yet so many of them are deemed 'legal'. There exists a dichotomy.
  17. "Tim Horton's coffee is not addictive and it does not cause the shakes. Our product is safe" "Vioxx and Celebrex have no adverse side effects. Our product is safe" "Flouride has no adverse side effects. Our product is safe." "Prozac is wonderful. Our product is safe." "DDT is a miracle. Our product is safe." And your point was? Edited to add: In all seriousness.. did you visit the LEAP site? What were your thoughts - if you did? I'd be curious to hear your counteragruements to their appeal. Instead of quip little 'comical' lines why not address the actual issue? Is that so hard?
  18. It's the easy way out. An appeal to emotion.
  19. First, thank you to all who have voted and posted in this thread. While I note that perhaps the poll questions themselves could have encompassed a greater array of possible scenarios - I tried to keep it short and simple. Decriminalisation is a concept which a grossly misunderstood (hence the 'black market supply' in the choices). Decriminalisation, as stated by Amazing Athiest, only involves a misdemeaner charge - IOW supply of cannabis will still be controlled by the black market (read: criminals). Hence, decrim is NOT a solution to the problems associated with prohibition. One either endorses a climate of corruption (prohibition) or one does not. For an interesting read: LAW ENFORCEMENT: CORRUPTING INFLUENCE OF DRUG PROHIBITION The article is written by the brother of Howard Wooldridge, a retired officer and member of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP). I would urge all of those here who have posted in support of the current 'War on Some Drugs' to please read the article above, and follow the link to the LEAP website. These men and women have seen the dark side of this, as police and law enforcement personelle - please read what they have said. There are also audio files there, I highly recommend all the interviews with Jack Cole (an amazing and brave man!). This is a problem with effects SO many lives. There ARE better solutions. It's time to take our collective heads OUT of the SAND!!!
  20. Shavluk, please stop insulting people. Even if you disagree with them, when you start calling names and tossing smears around it only diminishes your side of the arguement. IOW - please stop being so antagonistic! If you cannot refrain from acting in such a manner, then kindly butt out of this thread. You told me to start my own thread. So I did. You are welcome as any other member, to post in it. But cut out the blatent insults towards other posters who don't share your view. It is counterproductive and simply bad manners.
  21. LOL... There's already a petition for that! Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide *snicker* I think Penn and Teller did a thing with this - duped alot of idiots to sign a petition... here it is - enjoy
  22. How would this amount of 'personal' use be defined? What of those who use it for medical purposes? Anecdotal and proves nothing as you don't state what else this individual may have done, which could be a contributing factor. Perhaps he was just as stupid to start off with. Perhaps he drank like a fish, or fried his brain with chemicals. IOW proves nothing. Well, I look at it this way: Since illegal drugs are fueling the black markets and all the crime and corruption that goes along with it, such as gang wars, theft and extortion, pollution of the courts and police, the easiest way to cut off the 'funds' would be outright legalisation, top notch education and enforced regulation for distribution. I guess the problem then would be what to do with all the unemployed criminals. Oh well - they can become politicians I suppose The so-called Drug War is a mirror for other things too. It exposes the lies which are flagrantly lobbed about by our elected talking heads - no different than the lies in the War on Terror. I think when one sees the lies and propoganda about the first - it's far easier to spot it wrt other things. Strange all these Wars on Nouns.. which always end up with the problem getting worse.
