actually it is not inconsistent, reread the definitions. .A deity or god is a postulated preternatural or supernatural being, who is usually, but not always, of significant power, worshipped, thought holy, divine, or sacred, held in high regard, or respected by human beings. worship:a. The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object. b.The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed. Jesus is revered/worshipped/thought holy, divine, or is sacred, in Islam. Therefore Jesus is a deity in Islam. http://soundvision.com/Info/jesus/ Jesus and Muslims Muslims are required by God to believe in all of the Prophets. These include Jesus and John the Baptist peace be upon them. The Quran, the Islamic holy book, also instructs Muslims to believe in the books revealed to every Prophet as well. The book given to Jesus is called Injeel in the Quran. Muslims love Jesus. We also love Abraham, Moses, and Noah, to name just a few other Prophets Muslims revere. May God's peace be upon all of these great messengers of God. Christians should just get over their own intolerance before they speak about others, and use the fact that Islam reveres Jesus, as a bridge to understanding as stated. IMO, you say what you say, since you can not accept the simple facts of the matter.

deity 1.A deity or god is a postulated preternatural or supernatural being, who is usually, but not always, of significant power, worshipped, thought holy, divine, or sacred, held in high regard, or respected by human beings. 2.any supernatural being worshipped as controlling some part of the world or some aspect of life or who is the personification of a force http://islam.about.com/od/jesus/Prophet_Jesus_Isa.htm Prophet Jesus ('Isa) Muslims believe that Jesus, son of Mary, was a noble and honorable prophet of God. Learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus, according to the Muslim faith. Q. What does the Qur'an say about Jesus? From Huda, Your Guide to Islam. A. In the Qur'an, stories about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ (called 'Isa in Arabic) are abundant. The Qur'an recalls his miraculous birth, his teachings, the miracles he performed by God's permission, and his life as a respected prophet of God. The Qur'an also repeatedly reminds that Jesus was a human prophet sent by God, not part of God Himself. For more detailed information about what Muslims believe about Jesus, please visit the FAQ index page. Below are some direct quotations from the Qur'an regarding his life and teachings. "Behold! the angels said, 'Oh Mary! God gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him. His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter, and in (the company of) those nearest to God. He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. He shall be (in the company) of the righteous... And God will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel'" (3:45-48). "He [Jesus] said: 'I am indeed a servant of God. He has given me revelation and made me a prophet; He has made me blessed wheresoever I be; and He has enjoined on me prayer and charity as long as I live. He has made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable. So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)!' Such was Jesus the son of Mary. It is a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute. It is not befitting to (the majesty of) God that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! When He determines a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is" (19:30-35). lol?

that doesn't matter topaz, because, business leaders and government leaders in democratic nations meet behind closed doors in secret all the time, and that is a--ok with many people, it is just the way democracies function, no accountability to the voters/taxpayers/suckers. You and I get to vote every few years, be happy about it, cause everything gov and business leaders do behind closed doors , with no accountability is all for our own good.

eyeball: interesting article, unfortunately I could not read it all. It was certainly hopeful and shows how bridges can be built between humans as opposed to burnt. We must never let a failure of creativity and imagination, come between the opportunities to build tolerant societies for us all. That applies to the people here, who demonstrate plenty of intolerance of their fellow human beings. One common ground that Islam and Christianity have is the worship of Jesus as a deity, this should certainly have appeal to each of the groups, unfortunately the so called "christians" display raging intolerance towards the religion of Islam, preferring to disparage it as opposed to seeing the numerous similarities.

corporations can pay taxes, regardless of their status as individuals or whatever. They benefit from all the taxes collected, that provide us with our services, roads, educated workers, healthy workers , endless corporate hand- outs, I mean hand ups. Why the new walmart in my city got all sorts of goodies that my taxes paid for , roads, hydro ,sewers, plowing of the streets, street maintenance, enabling their employees to get to work, customers to get to the corporate store, or workplace, enabling manufacturers etc, to ship their products therefore, they can pay taxes since they benefit from them! because they are corporations means zip!

citibank is in quite a mess, thanks to the subprime crisis, will they still be a giant after this fiasco? time will tell -
what's rather amazing is scribs, doesn't seem to think that any decisions made by "business" people affect regular people. spew pollution: doesn't affect? shift production: no affect abuse workers: no affect lobby governments for changes to laws that benefit the population: no affect at all on the population? trade agreements environmental laws and on and on. doesn't have anything to do with the population at alll!!!! Of course one would have to wonder why any Canadian politician bother attending, this groups meetings, as unifluential as they are?? I am hoping Stephen Harper will come out to my neighbourhood watch meeting, it is very , very important to me!!!!

Name Calling: Name calling occurs often in politics and wartime scenarios, but very seldom in advertising. It is another of the seven main techniques designated by the Institute for Propaganda Analysis. It is the use of derogatory language or words that carry a negative connotation when describing an enemy. The propaganda attempts to arouse prejudice among the public by labeling the target something that the public dislikes. Often, name calling is employed using sarcasm and ridicule, and shows up often in political cartoons or writings. When examining name calling propaganda, we should attempt to separate our feelings about the name and our feelings about the actual idea or proposal. propaganda lesson of the day! can we pick out the words in scribletts response that demonstrate this technique? any other posters using this technique? I am grading on the quality of responses!

http://www.canadian-health-network.ca/serv...d=1048540765610 what percentage smoke? Canadian smokers aged 15 and older 1965-50% 1985-35% 2006-19% Fifteen percent (15%) of Canadian households reported at least one person who smoked inside the home every day or almost every day. why did I ask? Because if this was behavior done by the majority, rather then quite a small minority, as it was when I was a kid, the government wouldn't even consider it! They would not dare risk the wrath of half of voters who in 1965 were smokers. what are the income levels of the smokers? http://www.health.gov/communication/ehealt...x4/figure44.htm Family Income Level Percent Poor 33 Near Poor 29 Middle/High Income 21 also smoking is a bastion of the lower classes. Of course there are exceptions. Therefore, this law is an opportunity to score feel good political points "oh yes , we really care" on a small percentage of the population, who are largely lower income, and therefore not likely either to vote. If the smokers were largely affluent, this would not happen. If the smokers were a larger percentage of the population this would not happen. that said, this type of law, which could be passed by any government ( Conservative or Liberal)to score political points for the "caring" government and the "caring" voters , who generally assume some type of moral superiority. I am not even a smoker, but this is all this law is about. IMO.
-
what percentage of the population , with children actually smokes? what is the income status of those people?
-
someone is being facetious?? I agree with Leafless and Blueblood on this one, stupid law, waste of time. making criminals of people who were not previouly is a bad idea. cigarettes are not illegal.

your environmentalists are certainly not any I am aware of. Did you check out the lobby members? You assertation was wrong off the hop wrt environmentalists being supportive of ethanol. Big business supports ethanol and has lobbied hard for it. You should at least acknowledge the error you made?
-
"eco-nuts" have nothing to do with ethanol, look to big business for that one!!!! here's the board of directors of Renewable Fuel Association a big lobby group http://www.ethanolrfa.org/about/leadership/ Bush Delivers Speech on Renewable Fuel Sources http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6042500762.html REAL ,Environmentalists don't see ethanol as a solution at all, you are correct on that Kengs.! go over to organic consumers and see what they post about ethanol, non-supportive completely.

So I am wondering, what is the issue here, with some stupid statements from a woman who is simply filled with religion and religious beliefs? In the bible. a book published and distributed widely there are numerus exaltations to committ all sorts of attrocities. You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20 Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10 Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16 Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7 Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13 Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20 Shall we stop publishing the bible , or reading from it or preaching from it? Just think of how widely published the "good book" is? I bet more people have read this book or excerpts from it, then have ever heard Mrs Khadr's interviews.

Yet in your previous post you seem to say, there is no higher standard expected? i said: aw: I think we are having issues with words here. If the standards expected of the soldier are such that this is bad behaviour for the soldier, then it is bad behaviour, that's it. but we aren't talking about a football player, who I am sorry to say, simply does not have the same type of reputation to uphold as a soldier representing a nation. As for Canadian soldiers, oh, indeed they have done bad things, that have shone Canada in a negative light, no one would dispute that. Wether you accept the fact or not, and it is the same for my country, these soldiers represent their country. What I personally believe about soldiers is irrelevant, to this discussion. the fact is that this is bad PR for the US marines, as it would be for Canadians.
-
AW: http://www.star-telegram.com/news/story/509183.html Marines probe puppy-throwing video there's that high standards/morals spin I was referring to.(in bold) The marines, appear to be concerned with image.
-
tourism and military are two really different , really different subjects. I already gave my opinion as to why the fact that the abuser is in the military is the main focus of this thread. Basically the US military represents the US to the world, and puppy killing isn't part of a good image , for the military or the country it represents.
-
'American Woman' In the rhetoric , and the advertising for the military the soldier is held up, always, in a positive light. with themes of heroics , family etc., killing puppies, doesn't exactly promote that image? BTW: Note I use the word alleged in my original post. Have I seriously thought that myself? can't say I have
