They believed everything else he said about "the steal" because they are stupid and easily fooled. Suddenly they can critically think and decode fake from real? -
Trump Charged with 119 Felonies

Telling them to go to the Capitol and peacefully protest is not the same as telling them to smash the windows and enter the Capitol and occupy the chamber while pooing on Pelosi's desk. If you tell people to go to Parliament Hill and peacefully protest and they should fight to end injustice against indigenous people they aren't going to put you in in jail if they burn down the Parliament buildings, even if you didn't tell them to stop. -
I'm done with this whole country. Everyone is entitled, and care more about themselves than their country. The politicians are corrupt out the wazoo and care much more about their own power than the country, and the country is going to sh!t as a result. The people want their goodies but they don't want to pay for it with taxes. You can't raise taxes because voters won't like it, you can't take away benefits/programs because voters won't like it. So you charge it to the debt and let someone else pay for it. It's a joke. You make cuts and they demonize you like they did Mike Harris and Doug Ford and Harper. They say they demonize them because those politicians are corrupt, which the are, but the provincial and federal Liberals are equally if not more corrupt and the same people barely complain, they just re-elect them over and over. They only vote them out when the corruption finally hits their pocketbooks, like high energy prices or housing costs. Everyone is too afraid to speak up and tell the truth because everyone is such a wuss that they're too offended to hear it when someone calls a spade a spade. The young people now are even more spoiled, entitled, lazy, hyper-sensitive, and narcissistic because their parents and teachers treat them like babies and never say no to them and give them whatever they want even long into adulthood. Justin Trudeau is the prototype for this type of New Canadian, no human has ever been more spoiled from cradle to grave than this man. Is this the type of person who should be leading our country? Our decadence has become worse with each generation. Our parents and grandparents survived the Great Depression and World War 2 and did just fine, in fact they built the most economically successful period of any human society that has ever existed. The only thing that will change this is another economic collapse or a war. Decadency has ruined us as a people, we need hardship to make us strong once more. The Chinese are very strong, they're kicking our butts. The Chinese are so strong they'll do all sorts of terrible things to us in order to kick our a$$, but don't dare criticize them, that's racist.

"We will fight for equal women's rights and we won't stop fighting!" So every protestor who utters the word "fight" is now in trouble for inciting violence? Trump also said that "I know everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol to peacefully and patriotically have our voices heard." Maybe he wanted them to get violent. And didn't tell them to stop quickly enough. But he never told them to do anything violent. -
Ontario Teachers to go on Strike Again
Moonlight Graham replied to ExFlyer's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Michael they are talking up striking. For more pay. And using the education of children as leverage. "But what about the OPP?!" is not a reason to think teachers don't make too much in a thread discussing a possible teachers strike. If you're ok with them screwing over kids for more raises given what they make that reflects on your ethics. If any teacher is willing to screw over kids for more raises that reflects on their ethics also. Arguments about Doug Ford being corrupt are true, no different than teachers sacrificing the education of children for money. If they want a decent wage sure, if they want beyond 6 figures it's just greed. ON is in terrible debt. Because the corrupt Liberals gave teachers what they wanted, plus who knows what other employees also (maybe OPP?), screwed up hydro due to corruption, etc. And being a cop is a more dangerous job yes. Teachers don't wear ballistics vests or carry guns or go on leave for PTSD because they had to shoot someone coming at them with a knife. Now please, ignore all of this and carry on.... -

The teachers want raises. How about giving nurses extra pay so it's worth it for them to go back to work and actually save lives and lower wait times etc. How about hiring more psychiatrists so people with mental health problems can get much needed help and not go on wait lists for 6-8 months, which i'm not exaggerating, specially during these difficult times. They just went on strike, the kids then missed more school during COVID and had that crummy online education and social isolation. Teachers: If emergency rooms are closing due to nurse shortages you STFU and take the L on this one, it's not all about you and your money. Children's education and social development, healthcare, longterm care homes etc are much more important than your fatter bank accounts right now. -

If cops and firefighters went on strike and used the education of everyone's children as leverage to get more salary, and they had summers and Xmas and March breaks off and amazing pensions the public would be rightly outraged. Teachers closer to the top of the scale make way too much. And then the pensions are based on your highest pay years LOL. Healthcare has been eroding for decades and is in crisis. Public mental health access in the province is so bad it is a human rights issue. Longterm care homes have issues, and need to hire better and more help with more oversight. Hydro bills are out the ying-yang. I'm not crying for teachers, they're doing better than the vast majority of workers in the province. -

Cops, firefighters, investment bankers, Doug Ford being corrupt etc. This is all whataboutism. We are talking teacher salaries. They obviously make too much. Usually the ones who disagree are the ones who are financially benefitting from this, ie: teachers, their spouses/families. Not saying this applies to you, but doesn't change the argument. Ontario has serious fiscal budget issues. Teachers making 100k+ is simply unethical while the healthcare system rots and there's a mental health crisis. Not to mention hydro costs. Teachers will whine if they don't get their raises, this is natural, they're looking out for their own financial interests, and hide behind "we're doing it for the kids". Most teachers wouldn't strike and lose wages "for the kids". They are greedy and spoiled. If you use the education of children as leverage to get raises on top of 6-figure salaries, amazing vacation time, and fantastic pensions, you're ethically bankrupt and the public should not support you. The ON gov does lots of fishy stuff, but is not the bad guy here. -

I think using the education of children as contract leverage is extremely unethical. For the teachers who earn around or above 100k they shouldn't be given raises. People need healthcare and teachers are making 100k+ with fantastic pensions and summers, Christmas break, March break off. And a lot of them illegally collect unemployment during the summers because they're supposed to be actively looking for work, not sitting at home enjoy their patio. There's no lack of people with teaching degrees out there, there's no reason they should be making over 75k, unless someone has some kind of rare teachable they use. The Liberal gov spoiled them. -
Every election is stolen?

But Michael Moore said that Al Gore was the real winner of the 2000 election. He put it in his movie. Why were there so many conspiracy theorists in the House of Reps? -
Every election is stolen?
Moonlight Graham replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ok, so even though the elections were stolen, for the good of democracy Gore and Clinton conceded anyways. Otherwise, Al Gore could have stormed the Capitol in the name of hanging chads. So the peaceful transfer of power relies on conceding when the other person steals more votes than you do. -
When Al Gore lost to Bush he said the election was stolen. When Obama won Trump said Obama was born outside the US which made him ineligible and wanted to see his birth certificate. When Trump won Hillary said the election was stolen. When Trump lost he said the election was stolen. So in conclusion, every election of the last 20 years has been stolen. As a bonus, apparently the Chinese have been rigging the last 2 elections in certain constituencies in Canada to help get Trudeau elected, plus some Chinese BS in provincial and municipal elections. Eagerly awaiting the election of PeePee with the help of the Russian mafia-government and their oligarch masters. We live in wonderful times.

Trump Charged with 119 Felonies
Moonlight Graham replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The hard part is Trump didn't explicitly or really even implicitly "send" anyone to cause violence or vandalism. He just riled up a mob and got them angry, and then they went off and did that stuff. I don't know what exact charge they're most likely to get a guilty verdict on him. He definitely lied and conned and tried to undermine the democratic process, and pressured the Georgia officlal, and also Pence to do illegal things. -
1. I assume for tax revenue and votes. 2. The Liberal Party tried to access the bank account info of hundreds of thousands of random Canadians without their consent "to study spending habits". They brought back the legally mandatory long-form census after the Harper gov killed it. They tracked every Canadian via their cell phone location data during COVID without their knowledge or consent. They mandated COVID vaccines for federal employees. You probably have no issue with any of those things, unless I'm mistaken? Population control over civil liberties. There is no equivalency with the CPC from what I remember. What I observed with Harper was that he wanted a lot of political control within his own party, similar to Trudeau, and did things like unethical proroguing of Parliament to silence criticism from political opponents. For these reasons, he needed to go. But in terms of control of the general population I don't see an equivalency. The CPC were criticized for reducing the size of the federal public service, and reducing taxes like GST. Their leaders also aren't BFF's with communist dictators.
-
Corporations don't want communism, nor most politicians. Liberal politicians do like population control though, and steering society in their vision. They like social programs, a large beaurocracy, propaganda, mass surveillance etc. Individual liberties are counter to this. There's a big difference between being herded like sheep and being left alone.

i agree, Trudeau is probably Canada's worst PM. -
We should all be doing our part to reduce GHG but Canada shouldn't throttle its economy far beyond what the US and China are doing just so our politicians can pat themselves on the back. Those countries need to lead. There's no reason for Canada to take a big hit economically when the environmental gains are negligible. And just for the record, all of the scientifically illiterate rightwing climate change deniers over the last 2 decades are absolute fools. Their ideology isn't science and their beliefs are as much a religion as the enviro-nutters.

You need decades to phrase out things like energy plants. New ones need to be built as the older ones age. You can't just snap your fingers and replace every energy plant, it's not politically or economically very realistic. You also need to get the provinces on board since they're the ones in charge of electrical plants. We know Alberta already isn't going to play ball.
