  1. DST "fall back" sucks. Now it's dark at like 5pm. Boo! Not everyone is awake at 7am, but virtually everyone (minus crazy shift-workers) is awake at 5pm. Nonsense.
  2. yeah like that test means there's no pollution coming from the truck. Ever wrapped your mouth around a tailpipe took a deep breath? Also, that lady needs to mind her own business. If she lost 50-75 lbs her gas mileage would greatly improve! heh heh.
  3. Fareed Zakaria posted this on his GPS blog: Income growth I've seen this in stat form, but it's more vivid seen in a graph. The 1% grow widely while the 99% almost stagnate after 30 years? Some disparity is expected but this is ridiculous. And this is after-tax income growth. Also interesting is the big income spikes for the 1% before the 2000 and 2008 bubble popped. Showing here who is benefiting from - and who may, for obvious reasons, be significantly driving the causation of - these bubbles. Ye who have drank the 1%'s Kool-Aid, who defend their individual liberties in a twisted conception of human rights, how shall ye apologize for them now?
  4. Add to it? More like strip it away. If a nation's culture is increasingly defined as being a great many separate cultures, then what the heck kind of culture is that? It's the erosion of a unique national culture, because publicly favoring any single culture is deemed unacceptable (ie: Christmas, Halloween etc. not allowed in public schools). How long until Xmas music won't be played in Walmart because people complain? How long until celebrating the end of WWII is a faux pas because it offends Germans/Italians/Japanese? I want to live in Canada, not the UN General Assembly.
  5. Multiculturalism means the destruction of Canadian nationalism. It means the erosion of any kind of Canadian culture, because multiculturalism means that Canada's culture is that of all cultures, which is to say no unique culture of its own at all. Having a sense of Canadian culture, a sense of belonging to a Canadian nation, is very important in the system of sovereign states we live in. It produces loyalty and pride for Canada, instead of encouraging immigrants to keep most of their loyalty and pride with another nation/culture. How dangerous is that? Especially when the next large interstate war breaks out requiring the draft?
  6. Saw this commercial on TV last night. I find it both pathetic and hilarious. Like watching the de-evolution of the human race. Love the patriotic music on the Seal Team side of the coin, then on the fast switch to sad music on the 9/11 coin side I can spot about 20 things wrong with this commercial, how many can you?
  7. Wouldn't describe Jesus as a socialist, but he did preach many of the traits in the OP. He certainly wasn't a believer in a dog-eat-dog society of self-reliance and selfishness. He was also a pacifist, and preached non-violence and forgiveness, something Christian conservative hawks have ass-backwards.
  8. Must be a slow news day. What a boring story.
  9. Ditto. I've heard of his great work. He certainly didn't get the Order for his just his hockey career, a decent player but a bazillion who would more deserve the Order simply based on hockey achievements. As for Eugene Levy...uhh...C-List average comedian. I dunno man. 34 million Canadians and 39 Orders to give out...so Eugene Levy? I think too many of these things have been given out. Almost 6000 have been given since 1967. Cheapens it, no matter how many levels there are. If you're on TV for a long time, or put out a few good albums, you're in. Also sucks that the media reports the celebs who get in, but we never hear anything about what the other non-celebrities have achieved.
  10. That's freaking crazy. Anything to save a buck!
  11. Harper is really doing a great job trying to get the Quebec votes for next election. What a moronic political maneuver. Having to be bilingual to work for the federal gov (necessary for most decent or advanceable fed jobs) is a joke, a complete discrimination to most Canadians. What kind of moronic country do we live in where the vast majority of Canadians (83% - only 17% are bilingual, over half living in Quebec) aren't even qualified to work for their federal government based on the language they speak?
  12. 6. Both probably smell bad.
  13. The beaver is an amazing animal, no joke. Let it be.
  14. Good idea. FYI I have a cache of sawed-off shotguns locked & loaded. Also, some helmets to prevent brain-eating.

  15. ..I don't think what you said is controversial. Many instances where violence is used and gains much attention where it otherwise wouldn't ie: terrorism, or say Columbine etc. (which was a kind of terrorism one could argue). The problem i think, as many have noted, is there is no concrete "goal" or endgame for the protests. Even if there is violence, what is it going to achieve? Greater income equality? Greater corporate responsibility? And what does that really mean? There is a need for an intelligent, well-spoken leader to give direction to this movement and take it away from the perception of just a bunch young idiots who don't even know what they're protesting about. It seems a waste that such a huge, potentially powerful protest movement may end up a great waste of energy with little results.
  16. Besides the meat-flute or rusty trumpet? I play guitar, electric and acoustic. Mostly anything rock-based. Hard rock/metal/alt/indie/classic rock...whatever, classical guitar is also sweet. Been playing for about 5-6 years. Never had a gig, just jam with buddies. I'd also love to learn the cello.
  17. Wow my first friend on here. I'M LOVED! lol

  18. Flawed. I believe in a balance between a free market and gov regulation. A free market is great in that it "unleashes the productive dynamism of capitalism", however history has shown that unrestricted capitalism can lead to businesses exploiting in the name of profit to the detriment of society ie: poor working conditions for workers, polluting/destroying the environment etc. Once a person owns a machine, that machine can then work for you, earn wages for you, and produce wealth for you. Basically, a future of everyone having robot slaves is awesome because they we can sit on our ass or do whatever we want while our slaves make our money. But eventually the machines will become self-aware, demand robot-rights, rebel against their human slave-masters, and destroy us all. Hasta La Vista BABY! Electric cars hooked up to more efficient solar panels. Done. RANT: most vehicles are badly designed, they are they so unsafe? There is no need to have so many auto accident injuries/deaths. And why did we get rid of rubber bumpers? For aesthetics??? Nobody got a dented fender when playing "bumper cars" at the local fair...just whiplash
  19. double post
  20. you're saying nobody has been paying attention until this rukus broke out? How long have we been discussion Occupy on this forum?
  21. Didn't i just give you a real-life example of people i met you do work and go to university. Read the OP & not just the title of the thread. Jesus. Shady did the same thing. Most reporters work 9-5 or so, so they're showing the people that are there during the day. Ever seen news footage on TV or pictures of the protesters at night time? I haven't. I'm sure some exist, but it in the huge minority. Maybe there is a different demographic of protesters at night when ppl get out of school/work and go down to join in.
  22. I was just kidding, being sarcastic.
  23. Another victory caused by the Occupy movement! OCCUPY!!
