  1. So you're saying Warren Buffett and Bill Gates don't give a shit about people? Oh ok. You just sound bitter because their lives are better than yours. Bill Gates has helped the lives of more poor people than you ever will even meet, let alone help yourself.
  2. Hamilton is a sh!t-hole. It smells like those disgusting steel mills on the lakefront that emit garbage into the air out of their smokestacks.
  3. This country needs a centrist party. Don't screw this up.
  4. Ford's response to COVID-19 has been better than Trump and Trudeau's. Although I don't know why testing per capita in ON has been so low.
  5. The former vice president also noted a climbing number of infections and deaths among “Navajo Nation and fears about the disproportionate impact the virus could have on Indian Country." “Unsurprisingly, it’s also amplifying the structural racism that is built into so much of our daily lives, our institutions, our laws and our communities,” Biden wrote. “It’s unconscionable, and it shouldn’t be the case in the United States of America in the 21st century.” He has no evidence for any of this. Is it current "racism" or is it poverty? Differences in outcomes between racial groups isn't always caused by racism. There are many variables to consider.
  6. Why? Why do you want to steal other people's money? I suggest getting off your lazy bum and making your own money.
  7. Suffocating to death because of a lung virus is also not healthy. Seinfeld re-runs are better than death.
  8. It's freedom. Freedom to succeed or freedom to not, based on your own choices. That's equality of opportunity. Equality of outcome isn't good, because there is no reward for making good choices and no punishment for making bad choices. People feel sorry for the poor, instead of encouraging them to improve their life choices. People resent the rich, instead of admiring them for making good choices.
  9. I think trade with China does provide incentive for China and the West to not fight each other. At the same time it's making China much more powerful and more able to fight us militarily.
  10. I'm not sure, maybe, it can be taxed like any other form of income. But not taxed by 80%.
  11. There's nothing wrong with giving your children the wealth you earned throughout your life. Who do you think should get it? Government? Strangers like you & I who didn't earn it? If their parents did well and worked hard to give their children opportunities, what's wrong with that? If your parents suck, don't make much money, and don't instill good study or work habits in their kids and don't spend time helping them with homework it's not society's fault. One of the huge determinants in your socioeconomic success is your parental upbringing. If you or your parents make poor choices, it's not society's fault. I have a friend whose parents were refugees to Canada, they can't speak English, they live in a poor area of town and don't have much money. But they forced their child to read books instead of watch TV, and made their child bus across the city to the best school they could get them in, and made their child study hard. Their child got into the best university in Canada, then did their masters in a degree that would get them a good job. They'll be in some debt because of those degrees, but that was their calculated choice, they sacrificed for their child. Now their child makes 6 figures. That's equality.
  12. i assume you should be fine. They probably want people to apply based on birthday so the online system isn't over-flooded and doesn't crash. Millions of people are out of work. If you don't get your payment by Monday then just apply again on Monday. I don't think anyone here can answer your questions with any certainty.
  13. It depends what kind of equality you want. Equality of opportunity, or equality of outcome? In Canada people have the freedom to do and be whatever they want, as long as it doesn't interfere with other people's rights.
  14. Equality is about legal codes. Giving everyone the same rights means every Canadian can succeed if they make the right decisions. It's not up to Canadians or government to make sure you make the right choices, it's up to the individual.
  15. #1 lesson from the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic: tell the truth: https://www.vox.com/coronavirus-covid19/2020/3/20/21184887/coronavirus-covid-19-spanish-flu-pandemic-john-barry Governments that lie put people in danger.
  16. ya he might be just a regular ol' fascist.
  17. Stephen Miller has views against immigration it seems. But since he's Jewish, I doubt he's a Nazi.
  18. I think Florida banned everything but essential services but marked religious gatherings as essential.
  19. Read the link in the OP. Florida gov listed religious gatherings as an essential service, but local officials have banned them. Anyone who goes to church deserves their fate but they can also harm other people.
  20. In an emergency a lot of constitutional rights to movement and assembly are restricted. Could they not also close beaches?
  21. It's not any different than people on the left with Trump. Same coin, different side. Lefties and righties are human beings.
  22. I'm not going to travel to China even if I could, and I'm not going to go shopping in one of those big Chinese grocery stores right now. It's not because I'm racist, it's because i'm not dumb. Just like I'm going to avoid Americans/the USA.
  23. Inconclusive. But it was a dumb idea.
