  1. They've been helping Italy a lot. I think they simply don't want the rest of the world to hate them. If we hate them, some may stop doing business with them, which they don't want.
  2. Screw me once? They've been jacking us for a long time. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/nortel-collapse-linked-to-chinese-hackers-1.1260591 https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-canada-joins-us-uk-in-calling-out-china-for-state-sponsored/
  3. - In July 2019, China steals our infectious disease secrets at our National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/chinese-researcher-escorted-from-infectious-disease-lab-amid-rcmp-investigation-1.5211567 - January 25th 2020, the first case of a Canadian with COVID-19 is identified. His test is sent to the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg for confirmation, the same lab the above secrets were stolen by China. - On Feb. 9th, announced by Global Affairs Canada: "To support China’s ongoing response to the outbreak, Canada has deployed approximately 16 tonnes of personal protective equipment, such as clothing, face shields, masks, goggles and gloves to the country since February 4, 2020": https://www.canada.ca/en/global-affairs/news/2020/02/canada-supports-chinas-ongoing-response-to-novel-coronavirus-outbreak.html - Since then, China has returned the favour by hoarding all of the masks its factories manufacture. China accounts for half of all mask production worldwide: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/business/masks-china-coronavirus.html Now Canada has a mask shortage, our healthcare workers need them. What kind of idiot naive government does this? François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, should be forced to resign.
  4. I think the 2-year power grab by Trudeau and friends is the biggest failure of them so far in all this. It's truly disgusting for any patriot to try and use this crisis to grab power that long. Politicians should be stepping up to serve this country, not play games like that. Disgraceful.
  5. Great, thanks Rambo for bringing the US gun-culture BS to my country with your own paranoid fake militia of one. My daddy and my grampy owned guns. To hunt. Never had any need to use them for self-defense, unless a bear came near them in the woods, but even then never had to fire a shot. In fact legally its not much use for self-defense since a gun needs to be stored locked up and unloaded.
  6. In Canada, the proper weapon of self defense is a hammer or a goalie stick.
  7. Wow, there's a rat in the CAF/DND. Good job Canada, secret documents leaked.
  8. My local Loblaws now closes at 8pm to help with Corona, it used to be 11pm. Apparently they think concentrating more people in the store during fewer hours is going to help not spread the virus or something.
  9. Tell that to the 6000+ and counting dead in Italy.
  10. The market always recovers from big falls to reach spectacular new all-time highs.
  11. Imagine the economic impact of virtually every restaurant in the world shutting its doors to all but deliveries/takeout. Imagine every restaurant in the world tomorrow empty or closed. You're right, recovery won't be overnight.
  12. The amount of layoffs are going to be massive. People not leaving their houses is really, really bad for economic activity. When businesses aren't making money, they lay off workers, and some businesses will fold. When those workers and business owners aren't making money anymore, they're spending less money in the economy. Not good. And this isn't going to go away in the next few weeks.
  13. As of March 23: US death rate: 1.20% Canada death rate: 1.46% https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection.html?topic=tilelink#a1
  14. The Canadian economy is in big trouble. Because of this virus, the S&P 500 and DOW (the US market) has dropped down to what it was valued back in 2017. However, the TSX dropped so much it's now valued what it was back in 2010. 10 years of growth completely wiped out. Investors on the fence about the Canadian economy have completely abandoned it and will go elsewhere once global markets start to recover. We're effed.
  15. This thing seems like its going to be a lot worse than the 2008 recession. Businesses everywhere didn't shut down like this. I have friends who are saying they'll probably be laid off soon, some working at their current workplaces for 2 decades.
  16. Tough times mean we shouldn't criticize government? Maybe we should be more critical at this time than at any other time, since the stakes are the highest. Politicians shouldn't be hated, only judged on the merits of their policies good and bad.
  17. Exactly. When this is government policy, it's destructive. They literally are trying to erode Canadian identity and culture, wash it away and replace it with their utopian dreams. And we barely teach Canadian history in schools. Why give people any reason to be proud of their country? It's hard to be proud of something you don't know anything about.
  18. When being proud and loyal to your country is racist, maybe you should start considering that the lens through which you see the world is tainted with sh!t.
  19. I was talking about the NDP leadership vote.
  20. At this point I wouldn't ban all Chinese immigration, that's why I said no. But we should be very aware of the security risks that a minority of them pose and of the bad intents of the Chinese government, and do our due diligence. That said, I have zero loyalty or duty to any potential immigrants. My concern is Canada. If the above issues can't be secured I would consider banning all Chinese migrants until the Chinese stop stealing from us, but that's a pretty serious thing to do and i'm not at that point yet. Canada certainly hasn't done enough on its end to try and stop it. Trudeau is far more worried about his reputation among left-leaning peers in Canada and internationally than he is about the security of Canada. When you're more worried about impressing your peers rather than doing what's right then you've turned your back on the country for your own ego. The man doesn't know anything about Canadian history other than what his father spun on him, so why should he care anyways.
