  1. No real story here other than Harper is a busy PM. He doesn't even have time to put soldiers on our streets.
  2. I'm sure every MP has either laughed at a gay, Ukrainian, paki or Indian joke in their lives. They should all stand up in the House, apologize and resign.
  3. I have mutual funds with TD. They're not exactly the best at having their predictions come true. Also, since Harper saved up to $20 Billion not adhering to the Kyoto credit scheme, he's still in the black.
  4. Aboriginal self-government reminds me a lot of Quebec separation. If you poll natives if they're for it, I would assume an overwhelming majority would say "yes." The question, in my opinion, needs definition. What will native self-government look like? Is it something the wealthy bands would welcome if it meant they had to share their wealth with poor bands who have lived on government handouts? For what would the Canadian government no longer be responsible? For one thing, if they were to take responsibility for reserve housing that would be an benefit to Canada. Health would be interesting as well. They could offer private health care to Canadians. And you could smoke in your room.
  5. You heard "a contrary view" so all right wingers are against immigration. Yup that's ridiculous.
  6. If I recall, Brian encouraged MPs to vote their conscience, not as their constituents would have them vote.
  7. He should change his campaign slogan to: Once you have Barack, you never go back.
  8. Russell Peters is hosting an event called Comedy for Climate Change Canada. Al Gore will be the special guest. It's happening in Montreal. Now that's funny.
  9. The first step in understanding God is to understand human behavior. As for evolution, it's a constant part of life. You can look back millions of years for evidence or 100 years. If you don't believe in it, it's because of denial, which takes us back to human behavior and the reason for continued belief in God(s).
  10. Which god is that, Hephaestus?
  11. This whole thing started when an official suggested to Montana's governor that Smith could serve the rest of his sentence in Canada. The Harper government reacted to this in an attempt to close Pandora's box. Their case by case policy affected no one. In Smith's case the governor had already been petitioned and there is zero chance of him granting clemency for Smith - not only because he believes in the death penalty but because he would have to deal with the backlash from the reserve the two victims were from. If I recall correctly, the last vote on capital punishment in Montana was 53% to 47%. There very well may be another vote before Smith's time runs out. So he still might be spared, unlike his victims. In any event, the Liberal motion amounts to political hay. Sad that Smith gets more support than Robert Lattimer.
  12. You should read the first post in the thread. It does mention Canada. And Canada having it coming.
  13. And I thought Jennie was annoying.
  14. Toyota seems to be ahead of the curve in trying to use forums to sell cars. They likely have their taps turned on all day while they spread the manure to the public.
  15. The concepts of "coming of age" and "trouble" should be ingrained by the teen years. It's taught in the home and school. Every year you can't do something you did the year previously or you'll get in trouble for it. If you want to teach a youth something, be clear and definite. If you do A, you get B. We are being clear and definite now, but the message is: "if no youth gets into serious trouble for a crime, neither will you."
  16. Hard to remember a figment of your imagination.
  17. Yes, the previous government was very committed.
  18. http://www.financialpost.com/analysis/colu...26e&k=86612Being that he was the "grandfather of the greenhouse effect" and Gore's mentor, I'd assume Dr. Revelle was on the left. You dispute that? If the world switches energy sources, how many have 'have provinces' do you think Canada will have?
  19. I don't see it as a right wing/left wing issue. I see it as a rational/emotional issue. You might see it this way too, if you weren't so emotional.
  20. What it mirrors is the ice age scare from about 40 years ago.
  21. Global warming is the pattern. Panicing while we are within a natural pattern is silly. Spending trillions on a problem which might not exist is idiotic.
  22. Honestly how many times does someone have to tell you that CO2 is part of nature and doesn't cause cancer? You're implying breathing causes cancer. Great. I'm all for cutting down on polution. In fact, if you want to improve humanity, how about a world effort on cleaning up the POLLUTION of China. That's affecting millions and millions now. With or without humans, the earth will be warmer and it will be cooler. And people will be displaced due to the changing of the climate. Also let's put cigarette-like taxes on the Big Mac. On second thought, let's not. I'm hungry.
  23. I guess it was hardly unexpected: http://www.socc.ca/news_s/socc/2003/feb/27.html
  24. Acutally, there is a way: wait for summer. Regardless, the arctic cooling shouldn't be ignored, no matter how inconvenient.
