It's not the magical solution to any crime woes. By "we've already concluded" do you mean you've found someone else who thinks pissing away $25million per year is next to nothing. Some would prefer to control crime. And I'd think if it was a good idea, all police commissions would support it. Why not put a sign at the border: "Please register the guns you're smuggling!"? Gee are you implying there would be better areas to invest $25 million per year?

Actually two of the three have been to court. Apparently your version is still a fabrication. It was actually the 15 year old threatening with death. Sorry, no video either. P.S. Jennie also said "It's just a friggen flag!" How strange.

If there is a deed, the land was purchased. I doubt the government negotiators deny this.
-
The thing is land deeds were issued. This means payment for parcels of land was made from settler to the goverment, which was acting on behalf of the Six Nations as you note. This is why the Six Nations could claim monetary damages against the government, but cannot claim the land. For example: http://aaron.ca/columns/2006-05-27.htm

If crown deeds were issued, wouldn't that imply ownership was transferred? The government maybe acted as a realtor, not a property manager. So your argument is based on assumptions, driven by what you hope to be true.

Are you saying Hillary Clinton is a woman?

Is Canada now a police state under the Harper Tories?

I can see where Flatulence is coming from. Hitler went into Poland. The man tasered was Polish. Heil Harper! -
I highly doubt you can provide a link that shows this condition of the sale, but please try. I think there would be reason for a claim for damages. Based on what was accepted it would be the principal amount, valued at the highest price for land at the time, plus 5,000 pounds per annum (the were told to expect 3,000 - 5,000 pounds). Done! Next claim please! http://www.citizensofcaledonia.ca/PDFDocum...mand_County.pdf

The protest of the 41 agreement has nothing to do with lots not being paid at all. You'd better take a refresher course. The issues are distinct.

I can see you're confusing the land sales/leases of the 1790s with the land sales of 1841. Can you see that?

They would be entitled to the amount of the trust unless the subsequent surrender (in '43 if I recall) said otherwise.

Global Warming Proven Beyond Shadow of Doubt
noahbody replied to jbg's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
That's terribly short-sighted. Our economy is largely fossil-fuel based. It employs thousands of Canadians; it pays for health care and social programs. In Canada, the lives of your children are far more at risk with poor health care. Gee, didn't you just say "The cost of doing nothing, whether we understand the phenomenon or not could kill our children." That doesn't exactly sound like rejecting emotional rhetoric does it? -

Reminds me of the classic Simpsons' line: "Is it time to break open people's heads and feast on the goo inside?" -
No, as your link clearly states more than once, the land was to be disposed of.

Canada Puts U.S. on Torture Watch List
noahbody replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How about focusing on the "We've been tortured in grade school" claim? Do you find that absurd and absolutely ridiculous? -
Bush may be the worst president ever. But didn't you vote to re-elect a government riddled with scandal that campaigned on untruths?

We really should pass a law in which all criminals must paint their houses blue. That way you could feel secure living in a safe community with white houses.

And ships! Oh wait, they come from the Bahamas.

http://www.un.org/Docs/sc/unsc_resolutions04.htmlAre you implying the former Liberal government would have supported a UN resolution with no intent to follow through? I find that hard to believe.

Canada Puts U.S. on Torture Watch List
noahbody replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Torture is an all-encompassing word used to describe any level of mistreatment, even mild mistreatment. As you've just shown, when people hear the term terrible they think the worst. Are you aware what Arar went though or only that it has been described as torture? -

Think you missed my point. I don't consider spanking child abuse at all. However those who are against it have categorized it as child abuse in order to create guilt. The same goes for torture. Whenever there is any degree of mistreatment, people (lawyers, media) cry torture for the same reason. Arar was certainly mistreated, but saying he was tortured is a stretch. -

I'm not one to defend Bush, but it's likely the fault that he was raised by child abusers. You likely were too. By child abuse, I mean he was likely spanked as a child on occassion, like most of us. Child abuse sounds terrible though, doesn't it? And so does torture. It's an emotionally charged word. It's hard to condone torture or child abuse and this is why we gave Arar $12 million. Any idea of what physical 'torture' he survived and how long of a period he says he was physically 'tortured'? -
I don't know what makes it wrong, but it's sure difficult trying to give your sister the wrong number.

I saw a guy on Springer once who married his horse. Personally, I'm against same-sex horse marriages.
