Gun Control Doesn't work...Never did, Never will!

I'm always amazed that some people can't make the connection between sentencing and gun control. -

By the same token, if you get rid of drugs there will be no more shooting on the streets. Yet drugs are banned and there are plenty of drugs aren't there. The same goes with guns. You'll never be able to get rid of them. But you can put gang members who use them in jail. Gangs don't survive without members. For lifestyle criminals who are sure to re-offend, jail does make sense. -
I hadn't heard Belinda was doing John McCain. There goes my lunch. Explain that will you since he was never the leader of the Progressive Conservatives. Her party, her candidates and her supporters. That's all.

The decision to tax income trusts was based on a change in circumstances. It was about doing what was in the best interest of Canada, versus what was popular. I could point out that Dion vowed never to support a carbon tax, but it's petty. Dion has said he's going to implement the greenshift no matter what. Even though the economic circumstances have greatly changed. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead, isn't the best approach in uncertain times IMO, especially in the context of a global problem. A global solution without China, India and the US is like having a national solution without targeting the tar sands, oil and gas and coal-fired plants. You're doing something, but achieving nothing. Sure be cautious, but be practical. The best approach IMO was the original Clean Air Act that intended to meet targets within the next 40 or 50 years. No pain, no gain need not apply. But it does, because it is now a political problem more than anything. Since all the hysteria began, the circumstances have changed. Temperature warming is not alarming or unprecedented. If it is even warming at all. Only a nation of fools would risk their economy for something so uncertain. But as Elizabeth May noted, Canadians are stupid.

Dion was asked where he was going to get the $12 billion since he'd criticized Harper for bare-bone cutting. He replied he didn't know at present, but it the responsible for every government to find efficiencies.

He might have been born in Canada, but he was raised a foreign terrorist. -
She would be giving up $1.75 per vote unless she was reimbursed using envelopes.

From the same article: So Andrew Coyne is making a big deal out of Harper not talking about costs and thinks it's remarkable that no one has asked him about it. If only Andrew Coyne knew a journalist. " Don''t think Coyne is really the one to judge on costs or effectiveness. And did you edit that quote or was it the Maclean's editor? If you read the original on the link, he says "probably half as effective." As in he doesn't really have a clue.
-
So which candidate do you think is being upfront on costs and which one do you think is trying to mislead voters?
-
Are you a psychic?
-
Wouldn't you call misleading you being honest? Thanks for proving my point. The Greenshift is revenue neutral for the government, not for companies or individuals. You don't know what you're voting for.
-
There seems to be a lot of Canadians out there ready to vote for the Greenshift. What they've been told is that it's a tax shift from the taxing the things we want to taxing things we don't want. Many seem to be under the impression that there's really no cost to them as Dion claims every dollar that comes in will be given back as a tax cut. In advertising, this is called a truth well told. However, it is terribly misleading. The plan may be revenue neutral, but it is in no way cost neutral. It will increase the cost of everything we buy. What will cost this cost the average Canadian at the end of the day? Dion can't tell you. He doesn't want to discuss the subject. He just keeps repeating the propaganda slogans. Hoping you'll vote without clarity. Do you think he's been clear?

Well, if that's the situation, Harper wasn't telling a lie. He was asked about a land claim and made a reference to make the point that issues with land claims are difficult to settle and these things take time.

Anyone who has anything against Harper - post here.

Do you actually think the majority of MPs will vote to lose their cushy jobs and guarantee their party is out of power for years? My favourite fear is capital punishment. How many people would bringing that in for one term kill: 0. -
The problem is you don't know what Harper was talking about. Did he say he read about land claims in the newspaper, Brantford land claims in the newspaper, land claims in the Expositor or Brantford land claims in the Expositor? Your opening post accuses him of reading about land claims in newspaper archives. If that's all you know, this is the biggest waste of a thread ever.

Amazingly, they have a total handgun ban in Britain and the gangs there are still using guns. -
Was Harper even referring to the Brant Expositor? Was he referring to land claims in the Brantford area? Can you provide a quote for what he actually said? And sorry, going through the paper 'enough' doesn't cut it. News isn't a constant.

Liberals Admit Green Shift Will Not Reduce Emissions

For example: A Liberal (single) was being honest. -
If I did I would have asked you four times. Land claims date back to 200 years in Brantford. The paper was founded in 1852. And you've gone and searched through every paper already this morning. You must be quite a reader. Did Harper specify which paper in which he'd seen articles? How about a link?
-
http://www.ainc-inac.gc.ca/nr/prs/s-d2003/2-02387_e.html Here's just one land claim that's 100 years old. Are you under the belief that there aren't newspapers that old?
-
I would certainly like to see you substantiate your claim that he's lying. What in your opinion is so hard to believe?
-
It doesn't exist in a one on one situation. He has trouble picking out voices out of a crowd. Having trouble comprehending a question is one thing. Trying to spin this as a shameful attack on the disabled is what is deplorable. Reminds me of the able-bodied guy in Calgary who sat in a wheelchair in order to get people's sympathy and their money. Dion's doing it for their vote.

Canada Adds 107,000 Jobs in September
noahbody replied to Jobu's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Still people want to pull over and let crazy drive the bus. I think the most truthful words out of a politician this year were "Canadians are stupid."
