  1. If you read the plan, it states it's part of their plan to fight poverty. The intended tax breaks were weighted to help the poor. Companies would be passing on their costs to everyone. Joe the plumber would've been in the negative.
  2. Yes, his (and Ignatieff's) position was based on false information. His position is that it is a waste of money. If the price tag was known, he surely wouldn't have supported it. The number is 5,000 time a day or 1,825,000 times a year. This is the most misleading stat ever. The gun registry is accessed automatically when a CPIC inquiry is made. The police are not making 5,000 gun registry inquiries per day. You'd really have to be a sucker to believe that one. Police associations have spoken out against the gun registry too, you know, calling it useless because as an officer you can never assume someone doesn't have a firearm. Because if you do, you're putting your life at risk. That should speak volumes, if you're listening. There are plenty of statements against the gun registry found on old threads. At $25 million per year, the gun registry breaks down to over $200,000 per registered long gun homicide. Homicides prevented: 0. Is that worth it in your opinion?
  3. Actually, I did. You said: I showed you the platform. It states the opposite. He agrees with you. Not sure if you're paying attention. But Harper doesn't want to reopen that issue either. He agrees with you. Harper agrees with you.
  4. http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/oct/08100813.html There you go.
  5. Regional party in the West?
  6. That's some good logic.
  7. He voted for a gun registry with a price tag of $2 million.
  8. It would be nice to see the Liberals stand up in the house and deliver a formal apology. Maybe Justin will do that? The policy of the Liberal party is power at any cost. That hasn't changed. The west wanted elected senators as insurance against NEP-like policies. How many elected senators has the Liberal government appointed again? Why do you think that is? Why do you think gasoline wasn't taxed? Because it would cost votes in the East. The greenshift was nothing more than an anti-poverty plan with the objective of getting votes from the left. Oil has benefits to society too, you know. It pays for social programs, health care, etc. Not to mention many, many are employed by the industry. It's costs in relation to global warming are nil. You could shut down all oil production in Canada today and it really wouldn't make a difference. And that's assuming manmade CO2 is the evil it is made out to be.
  9. As long as he can round up enough dead people he should do fine.
  10. .The issue is you made accusations you can't prove. You have no idea if they're true or false, do you? Ignorance is bliss. In the english language "and" means you accused him of both. It wasn't long ago Paul Martin voted to maintain the traditional definition of marriage. And he's pro-life. Personally, I don't judge a politician on their personal beliefs. I judge them on what they do. Every party had a few nuts. In my opinion, Harper has done a pretty good job of creating a diverse party. In the Canadian system that's what should put your fear at rest. By the way anti-abortion legislation was introduced by a Liberal in MP in 2006. We can likely both agree, he's a nut job. http://dawn.thot.net/abortion_rights.html He is a politician. And smart enough to know that trying to implement a social conservative agenda would result in losing his job and keeping his party out of power for many years. The whole 'hidden agenda' thing is just a political ploy by the opposition. If Harper ever got a majority, he'd accomplish a lot, because that's what drives him. Canadians might appreciate that and realize the last party in power really sat on their hands for 13 years. Once you start to identify yourself with a political brand, you lose perspective. You'll continue to buy the brand, even though the product is crap. What he's repeatedly (key word) said is that his government will not introduce pro-life legislation. And he will not be reopening the issue of gay marriage. Any other concerns?
  11. Paul Martin was the PM whose shipping company didn't pay taxes in Canada.
  12. Harper will likely make it a free vote.
  13. For example: http://www.stephentaylor.ca/2006/01/libera...es-on-abortion/ Now that's scary. Boo! Still waiting for evidence on Harper attending pro-life rallies.
  14. It mirrors life. When you're young, you need someone to wipe your ass for you (left). When you get older, you might realize that you don't someone holding your hand (right). When you get old, you're more likely to appreciate a good ass wiping (left).
  15. Actually, he clearly doesn't state his views. He states the official polices of the Progressive Conservative Party, bringing to light the differences between the Canadian and American concepts of conservatism. He appears to be painting the political landscape to a group that would be a bit suspicious to the term Progressive Conservative, since it is an oxymoron.
  16. I asked you to provide evidence for your accusations. To my knowledge he hasn't attended pro-life rallies. If he has, it will be easy for you to provide a link. If you can't find one, you should hopefully come to the conclusion that you've boughten into a lie. A lot of the scary, scary is fiction. Paul Martin entire campaign against Harper was fiction. Soldiers on the streets. Wanting the American health care system. Did you believe those too? I'm not sure how one vows against same sex marriage, but what he vowed to do was not use the not-withstanding clause. He did hold a free vote on the issue as to whether revisit as he promised he'd do, as parliament never voted on the issue. Did he push that agenda? No. There are pro-life groups that are actually rallying against Harper. That's how scary he is.
  17. Not true. He reversed the Martin campaign cut for a year in order to keep the GST cut he promised in his platform. But he restored the cut in the next budget. So you're paying less in personal income tax and less GST.
  18. Conservatives?
  19. So Harper should step down because you choose to believe something you're not sure is even legitimate? Link please. Link please. .If there is one issue Harper doesn't want to have anything to do with, it's abortion. He has said countless times his government won't introduce abortion legislation. He has said he would allow a free vote if an MP from any party introduced a bill, but any Liberal PM would have to do the same. Harper, who doesn't even claim to be pro choice and says his view are somewhere in the middle, has 1 vote. That's scary. Not sure if you've looked at the Conservative party, but it's quite diverse. Do you think the majority of its members want to sacrifice their political careers by voting for abortion? If the answer is 'no' then your fears are not legitimate.
  20. Link please. He's never said that.
  21. I agree. All online websites should be audited to ensure those who are offering to switch are actual people. Don't forget this is the party of Joe Volpe. Some of these people might be dead.
  22. Actually he didn't have anything to back up his comment about effectiveness. He said "probably has as effective" without reason.
  23. Harper's the guy who stood up and said kyoto is worthless without the us, china and india. Absolute truth. Dion is the guy who criticized him for that. Absolute moron. Harper's original plan was one that was practical. What you see now is the response for Canadians demanding pain. I think both plans suck. The only good thing about Harper's plan is that he's been honest about it saying costs are unavoidable. Dion's plan is basically a poverty plan, designed to appeal to the lefties to get more votes and get back into power. If you read it, it actually states its part of their poverty plan. As an environment plan it does nothing but pass the buck to joe consumer.
  24. Exactly. That's why the original Clean Air Act was the only responsible plan. It aimed to meet targets in 40 years, if I recall correctly, without undue hardship. Does it make a different if Canada meets its targets today or in 40 years? No. And really, with all the uncertainty around manmade global warming, doing anything drastic over the next 10 years is foolish.
  25. How would you characterize the following comments by Wayne Easter now that we know the program originated with the Liberals and Easter had direct knowledge of that? “Today we learn that as a result of the Harper government’s ideological preference for deregulation, the country’s listeriosis crisis was far worse than it had to be,” said Mr. Easter. “Increasingly the Conservatives’ campaign of misinformation about their changes to our food safety system is being exposed. They undermined Canada’s food safety system and the results were devastating. It’s time for Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mr. Ritz to come clean and admit to their actions.”
