Farmers could no longer bitch about being treated unfairly. Why should local and regional markets in Ontario get to buy locally? Albertans aren't allowed a local gasoline market. So what harm would it do for Ontario farmers to go through the wheat board?
-
Or you could just make Ontario farmers go through the wheat board.

del double post

Many Albertan farmers support the wheat board. Except for prairie farmers who live close to the border.

Next President: Barack Obama

I wonder if Bob the Builder will sue him for stealing it. -
. Well if you suspect this it must be true. I don't see a problem with labour costs. Alberta isn't a car manufacturer you know. Really? No agriculture here? No tourism? No construction? If an Encana investor sells shares because of the royalty program, he or she is a complete idiot. Encana doesn't pay royalties on the majority of their production as their land is CPR land. The demand for oil isn't going to fall. Do you expect a business to create a full time position when it only requires a part time one? That would be poor management wouldn't it? And who is forced into part time work? And whose goals should be full time jobs? The union? Maybe if you spent your money, those part time jobs would be full time. So really, you're the one to blame.

My comment was directed to your criticisms of a specific cabinet post. How many threads did you start to debate this? Somewhere around zero? Not necessarily. He's really changing isn't he? Soon he'll be running for the Liberal leadership. Then all we'll hear from you is how great he is. I can't wait.
-
No. Maybe we should wait and see before we start to criticize.

quote name='jdobbin' date='Nov 3 2008, 05:31 PM' post='357873'] Hardly the attitude to take for someone who has created a Democratic Reform ministry. I'll point out that you seemed to agree with my (not Harper's) statement that committees accomplish nothing. Yet, one post before, you said you'd rather see more committees. Can you explain your thinking on this? I'm not sure how my opinion, which apparently is the same as yours and might or not be Harper's opinion on committees has anything to do with creating a Democratic Reform ministry. I would say it's likely a foolish move for someone who has a hidden agenda.
-
Oversight maybe. But I'm sure Harper would agree that committee is where good policy goes to die.
-
Committees are the recipe for accomplishing little or nothing.

Obama isn't a Messiah; he's a maverick. The the US has always been about being number 1 and rewarding the best. Obama is saying 'what about everyone else?'

Native neolithic culture vs western culture

Native neolithic culture vs western culture

The majority of roads, eh? Do you have any idea what a ridiculous statement that is? Somehow I doubt a native wanting to travel to the NE, would first travel straight north in order to walk around an imaginary section of land. By "majority of roads" that's what you're claiming. -

An elected senate has to do with democracy. Britain is doing the same. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/158...e-of-Lords.html Sorry, that's a Liberal concept. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debate_on_the...archy_in_Canada That's a european concept for starters. By your thinking, the reason the US would deepen North American integration would be to be more Canadian. Sure, I could be as blind as you are. -
Nova Scotia should lower voting age to 16
noahbody replied to jdobbin's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I had to make an x in a little box. Did I say it was? I said "closer to." Answer my question. Should all 16 year old be able to be bound to a contract? Should all 16 year olds be tried as an adult? It is funny to hear the same argument used against 16 year olds on the vote as ones used against women. People said they weren't competent and so on. There is no gender discrimination here. -

I wasn't aware the Conservative platform had a section titled "Hidden Agenda" or "Adding Stars and Stripes to Canada." It is common for those with mental illness not to recognize it. -
Nova Scotia should lower voting age to 16

Driving is a learned skill for one thing. And turning 16 doesn't give you the right to drive. You must demonstrate a level of competency. Voting is closer to entering into a legal contract, which you need to be 18 to do. Or should 16 year olds be able to enter into contracts? -

They currently get charged with sexual exploitation if the student is between 14 and 18. If you want to lower the age of adulthood to 16, then that law should be adjusted as well. Old enough to drive your teacher to the school; old enough to drive your teacher after school. -

So a teacher should be able to have sex with a 16 year old student? -
Someone should inform all the natives who are taking part in the Indian Summer Festival that they should be offended and boycott. http://www.indiansummer.org/

Evidence that it is a bad idea. -
The American race reminds me of the desperation we saw in the 2006 election by the Liberals. This story doesn't make Obama a hypocrite at all. For him to be a hypocrite, he would have had to first known where they were. Since they were "long lost," it appears he didn't. Secondly, he would only be a hypocrite if they asked him for help and he refused. There are many poor people out there that don't want charity, just as there are many who feel others should support them. The story also assumes that since they aren't well off in American standards, they are living in despair. Since they came from Kenya, they might consider themselves lucky.
