February 2002 to be exact. Canada's JTF2 was in Afghanistan in 2001(which was supposed to remain secret). The US was pooh poohing any military cooperative efforts choosing to work with Bombs and Money as the main force to aid the Northern Alliance in reclaiming the country. Must hurt to have to save face by changing sides, to the sides backed by Russia and Iran and to a lessor extent India. Canada didn't create the Taliban. Canada didn't support the "holy warriors" as the means to trip up the USSR. The US set a fire and after it burned the USSR, walked away and left the country in chaos and the flames spread. The creation of the mess in Afghanistan, the support for Mujahideen terrorists was not Canadas doing. Canada was not entertaining Taliban Guests. George Bush Was.... The Nuturing of Islamic terrorism in Afghanistan was the work of the USA and Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Ah yes Saudi Arabia...., and the Bin Ladens who Bush felt needed to be allowed to fly home from the USA without question. Afghanistan was a farce of an effort, and Rumsfeld went in weak and wimpy. All show, no solutions. AND IT SHOWS. The only thing worse then this is IRAQ. No Stabilizing efforts. CHAOS was FREEDOM. ANARCHY was FREEDOM. The failed policy of the Bush Administration is their own doing. If they were serious about cleaning things up at the beginning we wouldn't be facing the disaster that is the US foreign policy of Iraq and Afghanistan. Just because you carry the name as a handle, is no reason to endorse two clowns. They will go into the history books as the worst administration in American history. The most incompetent Administration in American history. And the most secretive administration in American History. They were successful bullies and they bullied their own into believing myths and lies. If the Bush administration had been serious about a coordinated effort, they would have received it. They weren't, nor could their actions be supported by other nations who could see the attempt to finger Iraq as a cold aggression to obtain Iraqs Oil. Complain if you like about the state of our military. I will commend those who have served over there and have little support here for their efforts. They receive nothing but platitudes and posturing from the government, and one could argue that they are serving over there more on your behalf more then ours. If the US were to pull out tommorrow, we would not be there. I am not going to blame them for the incompetence of the Bush administration anymore then I will blame them for the lack of support from home or the state of our military. Those are political issues. Afghanistan is a political issue, and it will continue to fail following the Bush/Cheney program.

To Follow up on Jdobbins post on Westmount Here is the Conservative Candidate. A Labour Lawyer http://thesuburban.com/content.jsp?sid=759...mp;cnid=1016167 I wonder what his thoughts are on the Walmart Case in Quebec

The Lifting is heavy because the US blew this from the get go. Too focused on Iraq to be concerned about Afghanistan. Too many incompetents in the White House, a lack of courage from Colin Powell who knew better but was to cowardly to speak the real truth. He became a mouthpiece of the administration. So, here we are 10 years later come 2011 and the country will be the same/worse then when we first arrived. THose precious early months and first two years were critical to success. We can run around with a few hundred men playing hunt and seek till the cows come home and Afghanistan will be no safer. The CF requires withdrawl or a plan for successful stablization and security. I don't see it coming soon.

Sounds Great. I would like to see the same initiative in Ontario. The Public Funding Idea was one of the few ideas from the National Party that found its way into the federal scene. Not bad for a 1 year party. I would like to see all Provinces follow suit. Has Manitoba already stopped corporate and union donations? Like in Federal Politics? Depending on your perspective of the monies, I see smaller parties getting monies for votes, from the people who voted for them, but would never give them a dime

Well Done, Make it so. Create another poll with these options. -
Well you might have something there. I reread some of the articles. He is helping LPC , but nothing in it suggests that it is exclusively LPC. http://www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/443616

Wal-Mart to close unionized store in Quebec
madmax replied to Bakunin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No and no again. Just like this case is going to the highest court, nobody knows how it is going to be ruled. However, I haven't seen publicly the information that would suggest that Walmart did the nasty and closed a profitable outlet that would remain in operation had their not been a union formed. Arbitration is far more "arbitrary" in its resolutions then anything I have seen in court. Too many times have I seen an excellent company case lose in arbitration and too many times have I seen an excellent Union case lose in arbitration. It is a crap shoot and no union wants to go to arbitration. I have been with companies that do want to go to arbitration on purpose rather then resolve and issue within the operation. And sometimes, you just have to go to arbitration because you need to have the wording in the Collective Agreement ruled upon so that it can be lived with. The CA belongs to both the company and the union. -
Its only been in place for 17 years, and it just came to your attention? I am in agreement that there should be no GST on used cars in dealerships. I also disagree with a PST on used cars. One part of the argument to consider (besides greedy government revenue practices) is that should you trade your vehicle into a dealer, you get the tax break on the GST/PST. So this is handed down in the secondary sale. Can I interest you with a CST and full tank of fuel with that purchase

Conservative Main Theme: We Cut Taxes
madmax replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't see a difference between either party. Just how they want to tax us and who they want to give tax money to. I think Wajid Khan is a Nutbar. "God is a Conservative" because it didn't rain? I wonder how that report is coming along. I see this poll question as being set up to split a CPC vote and collect an Anti CPC vote. I am not putting my mark down yet. Why is the poll laid out in this format? A good explanation and I will play too. -
I hope that all parties get behind this Bill. If it needs work, work on it. http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/new...1f-1ffac48a86cb

CPC Kovach Ducks Debates again. 0 - 2 Apparently Any time Any Place doesn't include Tuesdays or Thursdays She doesn't even know why she can't attend. But it could be because she is leaving the riding to meet with Harper in Kitchener. But then again, she not sure if that is the conflict or not? With lame excuses like these she won't need any to duck out of the August 20th debate she said she would attend. Who knows what could come up. A fly in her soup? http://news.guelphmercury.com/News/article/368547 Why she didn't tell the Mercury that last week, I have no idea. It was previously arranged?

Wal-Mart to close unionized store in Quebec
madmax replied to Bakunin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not so! If you want to sell cars, you require a dealers license. If you are selling a private vehicle, you have many restrictions. You need a licensed mechanic to safety your vehicle. And backyard mechanics have no insurance on work that they do, prior to you taking it to a licensed mechanic. Also certain provinces limit how many cars you can buy and sell in a given year. Provinces prevent curbsiding. You cannot change odmeter readings. But hey, its your car, why shouldn't you be allowed to do what you want to it. However, I do want you to know that I am willing to buy your car sight unseen. I know it is low k (FOR REAL) Your Bicycle, however, might have too many kms on it:) -
Wal-Mart to close unionized store in Quebec

Walmart does not "own" the people they hire. If the people they hire choose a union and Walmart chooses to close its operation, particularly before anything was negotiated, then Walmart deserves whatever it gets. However, if Walmarts operation was non profitable and they were deciding to close the operation, then that would be disappointing for the workers whether they were unionized or not, and not in violation of any law, nor need to be "penalized". -
Plum Appointment and Hypocrisy....

Yes, having been put in my place, I will no longer use the term Bi Election:) So, I am spreading around the proper word. Yes, I have been through Guelph and I think the public is enjoying the summer. I have seen lots of damaged Tom King Signs, A handful of wreck LPC signs, and it just doesn't look like the CPC is running a sign campaign this time. Their on the mainstreets everywhere, but I see just a few, comparatively to the other 3 parties on private property. The LPC are definitely leading here, and I think the CPC had a strong candidate, and lots of support to draw from. However, her actions have been very confusing for the handful of people that are paying attention. This campaign, so far, has made her look foolish, and I would have fired her campaign manager after reading his letter to the editor. No experienced CM would have written such a negative letter.

Plum Appointment and Hypocrisy....
madmax replied to Shakeyhands's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sorry, but I don't want to see the Guy from Palliser get an appointment either. What a load of bullocks coming from CPC, we can do no wrong supporters. And you're an apologist to boot. Perhaps he made reistitution? Perhaps he didn't and enjoyed his jail cell. He has a 2nd chance. He doesn't need to be at the trough on my dime. Follow the money. Maybe he made those brochures for the CPC, on getting tough on crime, and putting young "hoodlums" in Jail. -
http://www.lawsociety.sk.ca/discipline/Ole...iSuspension.pdf Perhaps this is why he choose to step aside. To be with his family. Which one I am not certain. His own or the family who's signature he forged? (allegedly:) Sorry, I have to edit this. Maybe he will get an appointment from the CPC. The New Accountable Government. hhahahahahahahaha

More image problems for the CPC in Guelph. Apparently City Councillor Gloria Kovach who challenged the LPC Candidate to a debate anytime, anyplace, anywhere, decided to opt out of an all Candidates debate and go foot canvassing. It's not necessarily that she didn't go to the debate, as the CPC have been having their Candidates not go to debates (London, ex Mayors poor decision in By-Election toasted the CPC), but the weakness is the challenge that she wouldn't back up. A questionable strategy from the CPC.

There is a CP release suggesting that Stephen Harper has his dates wrong. But I have read this and I don't agree with the article. I think it is more of a grammar error, (And I ought to know, if you read my posts) then a slip of the tongue or mistaken factual error. Confederation was in 1867, so when you are making a statement such as when NFLD joined with "Us in 1867", it was most likely to have been referring to them joining us at a later date, and not mistaking the date. However, the media likes a "gaffe" (eh Stanfield), and no wonder politicians have to be carefully scripted, where as the public likes politicians who aren't. Regardless, Confederation is still a hot topic in NFLD and if portrayed as ignorant, Harper will not help the CPC on the Rock. Whereas Danny Williams has made it known he will be in Ontario promoting the LPC over the CPC in the Next election. So, Was it a gaffe, or was Harper actually mistaken about the year NFLD joined Canada?

Another group of Crooked Politicians and crooked political operatives?

People who think they are above the law are dangerous in government. I am starting to wonder if Harpers recent change of heart is more about avoiding the embarrassing and possibly illegal In and Out scheme, that they have been using every delaying tactic to avoid public scrutiny. The CPC hasn't been the accountable government people were expecting. My guess is that the In and Out scheme is something the CPC would rather not have the public know about, and thus want to go to the polls and kill the issue there. If that is the case, then the opposition parties need to hold this government accountable.
