Now mikedavid00.... I hate Guyser (www.ihateinsuranceagents.com) as much as anybody. But that is hitting below the belt. He is not a card carrying Liberal. Nor did he vote Liberal in 2007. Look Mike. You are just are behaving just as poorly as those crazy nutbars from the states trying to protest at the funeral. Don't lower yourself to such behaviour. It is shameful. Save your anti immigrant slogans for a different thread. Personally, I feel awful for the family that must dread having to look at papers or go on the internet, for fear of coming across threads/headlines that trigger horrible feelings.

I recall a motorcycle trip during the 80s through Sudbury. We drove through holding our breath and laughing that we got our basic training in Hamilton. Without that, we would have puked.

There was a recent newpaper poll within the last 48hrs, and unfortuneately I can't remember which paper, but the phone in poll had 80% of the public didn't want a fall election. It was an Ontario paper. Keep that in Mind CPC, LPC and others.

Well August 1991 got me searching for new stuff on the Net about the Quebec By Elections. Can't find much on the one election, but have another article on Westmount. Houston We have a problem..... http://www.themonitor.ca/article-239648-Ti...byelection.html

I am used to LPC campaign promises. McCallam is the LPC MP and is Promoting exactly what I quoted in Guelph. He is an Economist sending mixed Messages about the Green Shift. You are not the LPC messenger, but someone promoting your beliefs on a Forum, McCallam Is the LPC messenger, and sending this message within the current by Election. This Guy Dion called the plan "as powerful as it is simple." Stephane Dion Wants To Add Carbon Tax, Cut Income Tax Thursday June 19, 2008 http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_23970.aspx Sure they do. In the meantime, tell people what sounds good. Its the LPC way.

Does Canada lack a decent Conservative Party?
madmax replied to 1967100's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canadians spend more time fighting amongst each other, and always have, vs the anti Americanism you suggest. It is far down the scale. Even during the War of 1812 when we were burning down each others capitals the friendships and cross cultural trade continued inspite of the Military engagements. Newfoundland lowers our Flags. Alberta has a Separtist Movement and strong US ties. The Atlantics want their own separate movements and have had movements strong and weak since confederation. Quebec wants to Leave, and the Western Provinces are full of populism that swings right and left on an issue by issue basis, more in tune with US libertarianism. Any Canadian Government has its hands full trying to hold this country together. Perhaps the proof that America is our best Neighbour, is that they have never bothered to inflame our regional differences, like Frances Charles Degaul did when he promoted a separate Quebec. Every Canadian Prime Minister has had their differences with the US. Mulroney being the most compatable but, having a very different opinion of South Africa and Acid Rain, then Reagan. I like this minority parliment. I wouldn't let the reins off Harper yet. I would be interested in seeing what he does with Fortier when he fails to get elected. I am waiting to see where he parachutes Emerson. Anybody seen Joe Clark, that's my vote -
Do you know anything about the St. Lambert Riding? Do you know if the CPC are making a push there, is the BQ still strong/relevant and can the LPC take the riding back?
-
Oh, now you make me look for a few articles on Westmount. Here is something from the Suburban. It suggests a Garneau win, with the NDP 2nd. I just saw a poll with the NDP at 6% in Quebec below the Bq, LPC, CPC, GP and who knows who else ...... By Elections are definitely volatile. It still looks like one for the spaceman and the LPC. And our straw poll says so too. And it will not be wrong on EDay http://thesuburban.com/content.jsp?sid=906...mp;cnid=1016114

Good Lord BK59, the LPC intent has been to lower income taxes. During that Paul Martin was handed out $$$$ to households to cover the higher costs of heating oil. So now the LPC wants to continue removing the progressive tax, and replace it with revenues from a regressive tax. The LPC can't increase the GST because that would be political suicide, like taxing gas at the pump. There won't be anymore money, but according to McCallum (an Economist) there will be more money. Gosh, look at this, a tax that eliminates the GHG and puts more money in my pocket. That is toro kaka and any rational person would recognise this. Meanwhile...... things are so simple, that the LPC MPs are falling overthemselves, and contradicting one another from riding to riding about WHO PAYS. Fact is, people on these forums are pretending that they know exactly how this tax is supposed to work, yet the people who will be involved in implementing don't understand it, and have decided to leave their shoelaces untied.

Dion's "Liberal Green Shift" carbon tax Plan

Will First Nations have to pay these Green Shift Taxes? -
Will Dion pull the plug after the By Elections.

Back to the busses. This can continue in the polling thread.

Hard legislation has been effective. Smog is something that can be address through legislation. The taxes on Engine sizes were not based on smog goodwill measures. The taxes collected were for building more roads.
-
Polling numbers and snake oil. I think that means status quo. But in for my MP, Status Quo won't hold the seat, and neither will 40%.
-
China also SHUT DOWN their factories for two weeks to control smog. Which to you think works? California has a car tax. Nothing new there. They have smog inspection sites/kits which are emmission based programs. So has Ontario. Since the 70s. These programs have been great at generating government revenue but not in addressing the problem and lowering emmissions.

That all depends if people believe this. Well there you have it. In a pigs eyes.

Campaign Managers Letter to the Editor is not a helpful defence. Guelph Oranges?

Companies install scrubbers. Auto companies put catalytic converters on vehicles. None of which happened because of a tax scheme or the market. These changes were legislated. Perhaps you never compared an Industrial Province in Canada to an Industrial Province in the 3rd world. I can assure you that more people are dying from where your computer components were purchased.

That is why the Green SHift is a scam. It is 3 card monty. It is a shell game. I swear it was devised in a carnival setting next to the fishing pond.
-
There is more to an election then Global Warming. But the LPC platform main plank is using the luke warm Green SHift to address it. This is Ontario not Manitoba. P I don't dispute your argument. I don't expect the LPC to be wiped out. I expect my LPC MP to lose his seat over the Green SHift
-
The LPC have chosen to sell the Green Shift. It will be at the cost of my MP.
-
If you say it enough times........
-
Based on Dions Green Shift... the LPC MP is toast , is what I think. Fair enough.
-
No problem. I am not always clear in my posts. The Green Shift is taking a tax on Gas and Renaming it as a Carbon Tax. In effect having no change on the environment or the tax itself. The GST/ was to be eliminated, but instead was renamed HST but the savings to the consumer was insignificant, while I will agree it made somethings easier for retailers. Eliminating the tax as promised would have done more for retailers. In effect having no change on the tax itself. However, people felt Shafted and Betrayed after Chretian Failed to follow through on eliminating the GST The Green Shift is another tax grab to shaft the voter.
