most canadians back palestinian state - why doesn't harper?
scribblet replied to bud's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Good one - the revered very reverend Mr. Douglas was an evangelical 'fundy'... who also believed in eugenics - yikes' Still wondering where the proof is that the 'majority of Canadians support Palestine" -
Why are we paying for inefficient energy?

My take too, it looks good and keeps the greenies happy (to some extent) - I wonder if McGuinty is rethinking giving money to the solar panel company after the mess up with Solondra in the U.S. -
Wots Gonna Happen when parliament resumes
scribblet replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I didn't say they did, but it's the NDP policy to get rid of the Senate, not the Consdervative policy. -
I'd like to see the pertinent sections of the legislation, and if it is exactly as reported, so far I haven't seen the bill, or at least the sections of it that do away with requiring a warrant. Is the bill tabled now ? If it is as reported, then I don't agree with warrantless searches.

Not soon enough, but I fear he may win, at least a minority gov't.

I bet a lot of "non-foreigner" liberals are even unable to understand the "technical manual" of their laptop computers, though I'm sure they can "read" the manual... Maybe it would be better if McGuinty didn't discriminate and applied Canadian values that ALL people should be treated equally.

Very anti populist move by the Harper Government
scribblet replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Right, because they really don't want peace or conditions that wouldn't give them Israel too (right of return). If their unilateral declaration of statehood is accepted and recognized, they will take it as a mandate to continue attacking Israel, it will cause more problems. -

Really, our liberal laws don't allow us to force people to take meds, or put them away in a facility and so on. This guy is just one example of people who should not be wandering free. -

Well, tell that to the NDP who really do want to snuff the Senate LOL As for keeping criminals in jail, well, that little boy would not have been abducted if that piece of crap hadn't been released, he had been tried at least twice for offences involving minors, He has at least 11 assault and burglary convictions, and was also accused of attempting to abduct and molest a Sparwood boy in 2007. He was convicted of sexual assault in 1985, and more recent one did involve violence which brought an assault conviction. Why was he still out wandering around to commit more crimes. -

The majority support Palestine? - do you have any proof of that... ETA: Acceptance of a Palestinian State will put an end to any peacekeeping/negotiations, and who will pay for this, they can't pay wages and pensions now. PA receives US $500 million in funding from the U.S., should the UN recognize statehood, then the funding should be stopped, unless there is a declaration of peace from Hamas. -
Obama's Protectionist Job Bills Is Bad For Canada

Libya New Leader Calls for State Based on Islamic law

Shariah law is barbaric and even in a 'moderate' Islamic society women lose, not what we should be helping them establish. -
Obama's Protectionist Job Bills Is Bad For Canada
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't really consider the bailouts as protectionism, this bill is, but maybe there'll be another 11th hour waiver, and rightly so. -
Hmm..... not exactly what I thought Canada was fighting for in Libya. We don't expect a full fledged western style democracy, but not a State based on Sharia law which is usually run by religious hard liners. He says no extremists allowed. Wonder if there will be an election, and is body of law based on Sharia inherently threatening to the west ? http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2011/09/2011912214219388500.html cont..

Canadians should not be rooting for the Obama protectionist job bill to pass as it is not good for Canada. Obama's proposed billion $ package includes a requirement that all "iron, steel, and manufactured goods" used in public buildings or works be supplied by American firms. Protectionist measures like this impede growth and kill jobs. We've been there before, when we had to fight for an exemption from the "Buy American" provisions in the 2009 stimulus package. http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/09/14/portion-of-obamas-jobs-plan-concerns-canadian-government/

"Palestina Uber Alles" Arab winter anyone http://bikyamasr.com/41790/egypt-activists-bring-down-israeli-embassy-wall/ CAIRO: Hundreds of Egyptian activists converged on the Israeli Embassy in Giza on Friday evening and tore down the protective barrier surrounding the building’s complex. The activists then replaced the barrier with a Palestinian flag and chanted as they burned the Star of David flag of Israel. and http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContentP/1/20856/Egypt/The-storming-of-Cairos-Israeli-embassy-an-eyewitne.aspx what are the odds that there will be some 'ethnic cleansing' in Egypt

It's a detriment to skilled workers who don't fit into the affirmative action group here, who would you hire for the chance of getting that much of a credit.

UN independent panel rules Israel blockade of Gaza illegal

It's a distraction from the real report. -
Just typical Heather Malice LOL Well, I'm middle-aged but it's not because I eat at McDonalds that I'm not at my 1964 weight. Who the hell cares what McDonalds does, we can all read and decide for ourselves what we want to eat, why blame a fast food joint for a person's poor choices. I like a burger now and then, maybe once a month, so what, it's the in thing to blame McDonalds et al for poor eating choices.

McGuinty should apologize to the unemployed of Ontario, he's the one who not only looks like an ass, but is one.

I tend to agree, I just read the about 80% of the education tax dollar goes to salaries, and what does a Liberal Arts degree really equip someone with- teaching ? More money does need to put towards skills, trades training and easier access, maybe a substantial tax credit would give employers a reason to hire apprentices, because it's hard to get into any of these trades.
