Pork barreling is another issue, but an apology from the NDP for the baseless accusations and lies should be made.
-
It's a total non issue, Clement has been cleared and is owed an apology.

Thought I'd post this here as it's aprapro to the thread - http://www.nationalpost.com/opinion/columnists/Capitalism%2Bspoiled%2Bchildren/5736811/story.html cont...

I agree that adding more seats will be expensive, but we know the provinces will never agree to having a seat cut and the Constitution guarantees Quebec 75 Commons seats, no matter what. A 1915 amendment also guarantees every province will have at least as many Commons seats as it has Senate seat along with the 1985 rule that says no province will have fewer seats than it had previously. Therefore, reducing a province's number of MPs will require a constitutional amendment needing provincial agreement - fat chance that'll ever happen. This then rules out redistribution leaving expansion in keeping with rep. population. Either that or the gov't does nothing which will not fix Ontario, Alberta and B.C.'s under representation.

How soon they forget that all though a minority gov't the opposition stalled and stalled and now they just can't believe they aren't the gov't any longer. I mean, damn it, this majority gov't actually has the temerity to push through their campaign promises and agenda and the NDP can't believe they don't have any power. It's really about wanting to tie up Parliament to prevent discussion on the crime bill, gun registry, Canadian Wheat Board and Article 13 of the HR code. He's not ranting about lack of democracy really, he's just swearing because they are not able to paralyze the workings of a democratically elected majority gov't., which isn't playing their game. I'm sure we'll see a lot of this over the next four year with little or no critique from the c0nsensus media. Maybe by 2015 Canadians will be fed up with the antics of the NDP and do to them what the people of Saskatchewan did to the NDP.

He's a boor, always has been, but you'd think there'd be some consistency here, I mean really, if Rob Ford isn't allowed to swear under duress then neither can Pat Martin.

Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.
scribblet replied to Bob's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly !!! And why is the wheat board spending 1.4 million of taxpayer's money to advertise in Ontario, the WCWG is in favour of allowing farmers to sell their wheat and barley on the open market. - oh the horror. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/our-communities/headliner/Farmers-fire-back-at-CWB-with-their-own-lawsuit-133539288.html Farmer’s fire back at CWB with their own lawsuit WCWGA say CWB has no right to spend farmers money on a political campaign I wonder why they are doing it after losing a legal batter over advertising last year. http://www.benlobb.com/media_/riding-news/conservative-government-wins-legal-battle-with-canadian-wheat-board -
Shutting down debate is nothing new, neither is the opposition deliberately stalling bills by adding amendments etc. Maybe there's good reason to close off debate.

He shouldn't have to step down for being boorish and vulgar.. typical Pat Martin. Seems to me he had to apologize to a woman this year, there seems to be a pattern of verbal abuse from this boor.

Hmm okay, sort of like greasing the wheel ? Brian Lilley of the Sun quoted Mitt Romney, who I agree with about China. “China is playing by different rules. One, they’re stealing intellectual property. Number two, they’re hacking into our computer systems, both government and corporate, and they’re stealing by virtue of that as well,” Not sure that we should continue to help them do this -

E.C. have allready spent 1.3 million on this and the CPC, who knows, it's beneficial to both parties to reach a deal and move on. No one was found guilty as that couldn't be proven. Four years from now it won't mean anything, the majority of people will just yawn and move on, but the few 'pseudo intellectuals' will continue to rant..
-
It is a puzzlement as to why they want to justify it, especially to countries who's economies are booming. These people would be the first to complain about the deficit yet this doesn't bother them -
-
Good piece here by B. Lilley - so why are we giving China money - again? http://www.torontosun.com/2011/11/10/time-has-come-to-get-tough-with-china

That's about it and now they can get to work cleaning the Liberals out of Elections Canada. Elections Canada has spent approximately $1.3-million on legal counsel and legal advice related to the Conservative Party since 2005 yet ever single Conservative accused of wrongdoing has been cleared because after 5 years they have finally determined that they could not or should not prove otherwise. As the media blurb said: The Conservative Party of Canada plays by the same rules as everyone else acting under the law as it was understood by Elections Canada at that time. When it was clear that Elections Canada had changed its interpretation of the law, the Conservative Party adjusted its practices for the 2008 and 2011 election campaigns. Ultimately, Conservative candidates spent Conservative dollars on Conservative ads.

I don't know how much it's costing and I don't care. There's nothing wrong with our PM discussing co-operation between countries, we have to talk, and we have to discuss the U.S. protectionism for one. That's what leaders do...

Time for them to stop illegally occupying public space, the homeless want it back anyway...

Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.

No but it's the gov't that has kept the CWB board and is now making it optional. -
Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.
scribblet replied to Bob's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Some people have decided that they would force the federal government to retreat from its promise to free western farmers from the Wheat Board monopoly, and it seems the Wheat Board has not made any effort to prepare for participating in a competitive market. From their behaviour to date, I expect that when legislation to remove the Wheat Board monopoly is passed, the Wheat Board directors will resign and refuse to continue operations. What we are witnessing is a clash of ideologies; some who wish to retain the monopoly system are lifetime socialists who will never admit that western farmers can prosper in a competitive environment. The government is committed to allowing western farmers to enjoy the fruits of their labours without undue restriction. I suppose some of the children are fearful of leaving the nest, afraid that big government won't watch over them anymore.
