  1. I'd like to see a breakdown, and if the huge subsidies for wind/solar/etc. are included. When referring to subsidies, do they mean outright cash given, or tax breaks ? Some incentives given by Industry Canada do help to expand operations and R & D, or to help with competition, not all are bad. Don't forget a lot of these breaks are for struggling small business, not all are giant corps. If you want to cry about "welfare" take a good look at the grants offered to the Arts community through the Canada Council and so on, now that's "Welfare".
  2. ??? A Christian Conservative, or Christian Conservatives... who he or who are they? How do you know this?
  3. I can live with 3% as long as the premiums are 50/50, I think the taxpayer.com get's people all riled up thinking that most MPs will be getting millions. They won't be, only the long term MPs will get the larger amounts quoted. How many MPs actually serve the required 6 years, how many serve more than 10-12 years, not that many I think.
  4. If they are not addressing it and I'm not sure if they are, they need to address the calculation which is usually based on 2% a year for a maximum of 35 years of service, resulting in 70% of the average of the last or best, 5 years earnings. Currently they get 3% to a max.of 75%. Premiums should be 50/50, the amount the gov't/taxpayers contribute is far higher than 50%, according to the taxpayer's assoc. anyhow. If pension is collected before age 65 usually it is actuarialy reduced, although I'm not sure if they will be able to collect before 65 at all.
  5. It's going to be tough, but it's coming. MPs will have to wait upwards of 10 years longer to start collecting their political pensions under the proposed changes so will cost MP hundreds of thousands of dollars in future benefits. Starting after the next federal election MPs will begin receiving at age 65 instead of 55. I believe they will also be paying up to 50% of the premiums. It's a good start.
  6. Not sure if this is the right thread to put this? An excellent article by Tarek Fatah http://www.torontosun.com/2012/09/18/only-god-can-help-muslims-from-ourselves
  7. Have to say I too have W. on ignore, he is otiose
  8. Exactly !! It doesn't matter where the report came from. Is it accurate or is it wrong, if so prove it.
  9. Just read a bit more on this, and appreciate the last few paragraphs http://www.guelphmercury.com/opinion/editorial/article/793109--dismissing-key-evidence-against-sona That later filing also stressed that Sona was not a person with access to the Conservatives’ voter database that seems to have yielded the phone list that the robocall suspect using the name Pierre Poutine used in his attempt to suppress votes with the misdirecting of the May 2, 2011 phone calls. It’s to Elections Canada’s credit that it corrected the public record on this point. It’s incredibly unfortunate for Sona that it did so in such a muted manner. It’s also unfortunate and unjust for Sona that the individuals and organizations who made so much ado over the incorrect Elections Canada information haven’t been as diligent in prominently noting that a seemingly damning piece of evidence against Sona was incorrect. Sona has repeatedly said publicly he had nothing to do with the misdirecting robocalls. There’s certainly no verified public evidence that that’s anything but the truth.
  10. Yes, believe it was Kady O'Malley... So far though I don't see much in the MSM reporting this Liberal guilt I have a feeling that we won't get any satisfactory results from any investigation tho I wish we could, one way or another. As long as there is nothing concrete the speculation and innuendo will continue. I really don't understand how the RCMP can't track any of this... I guess CSI type investigations really do not exist
  11. Amazing how supposition and innuendo win the day isn't it -
  12. I'm not sure about that, particularly when it comes to Quebec and separatism. The NDP don't support the Clarity Act, Mulcair says 50% plus 1 is just fine. Sherbrooke declaration) I've read that the Federal Liberals are thinking about a motion asking Parliament to reaffirm its support for the Clarity Act. Good idea in my books as it'll force Mulcair to come clean. This is why why we needed Charest and his full support of Federalism, the reason he was drafted to lead the Liberal party.
  13. Golly gee, they've suddenly amended it LOL
  14. Keep trying, so far there's nada... I read the stuff about the NDP somewhere else on a CBC blog, it's Simon Rowland who was an NDP Candidate for the Eglinton-Lawrence riding.
  15. Come on guys, much ado about nothing. Try flying a plane over the White House and see what happens
  16. It's kreepie to say “We all belong to the government.” as they eliminate God from their platform. I'm the gov't - I'm here for you. Shudder too bad they don't have a moderate third party.
  17. Some of the evidence against Sona (Guelph) now shows that it was based on an error made by an Elections Canada investigator. http://www.guelphmercury.com/news/local/article/792618--damning-evidence-against-guelph-man-incorrect-records-show We have also learned that the robocall investigator being used by E.C. to provide technical advice, is an NDP partisan.
  18. Seems logical doesn't it - nah - Harper did it doncha know. So far it's all the usual speculation that the plane was actually ordered down by Harper. What right does the union have to spend member's money on political advertising. Advertising that has nothing to do with their bargaining or labour issues, the message was not factual, only their opinion. The union does not speak politically for all, it had no right using dues to pull such a stunt.
  19. Not sure that was a call centre, I seem to remember he was from the party, not sure. Hope you are right. ( I save my donations for the feds considering you get 75% back on the first $500.00 I can afford to give a couple of hundred...
  20. They are doing what anyone would do in a court case, they have actually handed over everything they were asked to. We don't know who did anything wrong other than it was this 'Poutine' guy, so far the only 'wrong' thing has been by the opposition. This has all been rehashed repeatedly and so far nothing new other than the opposition has been found in error. Certainly there is absolutely no evidence that the CPC itself was involved - where's CSI when ya need 'em.
  21. Sigh, yeah, I got that one figured out... well maybe it was Bush's fault The NDP get their hands caught in the cookie jar, the Liberals are fined for illegal robocalls yet somehow - it's Harper made 'em do it.
  22. Oh right LOL the NDP has had to return illegal union money, but that's 'different' doncha know. Liberals making illegal robo calls is 'different' not to mentioned whitewashed LOL So far no proof of anything other than opposition malfeasance, no votes suppressed anywhere that we have proof of. Never mind, Elections Canada will ferret it all out. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1247176--ndp-returned-344-468-in-advertising-income-after-conservatives-complained-to-elections-canada
  23. Yeah I was being a tad facetious I know the difference. But really, that's nit picking. How do we know people weren't swayed into voting differently, and you do know had it been a Conservative candidate, it would be all different, there would be demands for a by-elect and on and on
  24. Gosh, wouldn't a non Christian conservative also think the same...
