Romney Lies about Jeep Jobs
scribblet replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Jeep said: “It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China, for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation." It is only reviewing or thinking about the possibility of that happening. As with most ads they spin what was said. Romney read or was told about the Bloomberg story that one of the great manufacturers in the state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-21/fiat-says-china-may-build-all-jeep-models-as-suv-demand-climbs.html majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region. -
"A Bump in the Road" ahead for Obama.
scribblet replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
IMO it will be a close race, if I were voting I'd have a tough time deciding as I believe Romney would be better for the economy therefore for Canada. I don't like their stance on abortion and birth control, some of the radical statements (even though they are misrepresented ) by Republicans bother me. I'm not a one issue person so I think I would have to put that aside and vote for the economy and jobs... Both sides are misrepresenting issues in ads, but Obama's record IMO isn't that great, to me. and I"m just saying mind.. he's a flim flam man. I wonder if Obama will still want reforms to the Electoral College if he wins that but not the popular vote... http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/264347-obama-clinton-backed-reforms-to-electoral-college-after-bush-v-gore More info... Romney has won the endorsement of the papers in Iowa, a swing state, it's possible they could swing the vote to Romney. He’s won the endorsement of all 4 newspapers in Iowa. Not sure how much these endorsements do to sway voters but there are obvious many who have given it a lot of thought and believe Romney is best for the economy. In other words there are many other views out there then what we get from this forum. http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/10/29/all-four-major-iowa-papers-endorse-romney/ Other papers are also endorsing who previously endorsed Obama. -

Think I'll start reading it too, the schools system has been brain washing kids for a long time.

The gov't is investigating this, and the questionable preference for mandarin speaking applicants. If this is the case and Canadians are not able to apply then the whole process should be restarted. The co. should advertise again and should be able to prove that no Canadians applied before bringing in temp. workers. If they can prove that no Canadians applied then there is a problem, either with lazy Canadians who won't work, or we do in fact need to import workers.

The Truth About Benghazi
scribblet replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Haven't read the whole thread but this seems to be played down in the rest of the media, meanwhile, back at the ranch... http://www.therightscoop.com/lt-col-tony-shaffer-my-sources-tell-me-obama-was-in-the-room-watching-benghazi-attack/ -
Thralldom - Yoke of masters - really, get a grip. Canadian miners make good money, and rightly so, they are not in the yoke of any master. And I suppose Newfoundlers don’t want to work in thraldom under the yoke of their Canadian masters. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2012/06/04/nl-thailand-crab-plant-butler-604.html

So this is Harper's fault that the companies can't find Canadian to work or is that E.I. needs reforming.. partly that out east anyway as they are bringing temp. employees into NewFoundland of all places. Or should we just can the temp. worker program and stop all companies hiring temp. help ? http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2012/06/01/nl-thai-workers-quinlans-602.html

Do some Posters insult with impunity?
scribblet replied to Wild Bill's topic in Support and Questions
Good post WB... I've noticed a deterioration and change (not for the better) since I first started posting on here in 2003. The rules are quite clear but don't seem to be followed anymore. Heck, I got a warning point for calling Ignatieff 'iggy'.... -
Voters can be registered and vote if they show up at the correct riding with proper ID etc., no reason why they shouldn't be able to, it's the process and irregularities on the part of workers that was the problem. It's been my experience that many of the workers don't seem to be able to understand or follow instructions. This had nothing to do with 'robocalls' or fraud, Elections Canada has said it will improve training starting with the upcoming by elections. This is case law now so doesn't bode well for the radical left wing group trying to disenfranchise voters in other ridings. From the decision “we reject the candidate’s [borys Wrzesnewskyj’s] attempt to disenfranchise entitled voters and so undermine public confidence in the electoral process.” “There is no allegation of any fraud, corruption or illegal practices. Nor is there any suggestion of wrongdoing by any candidate or political party.” “[borys Wrzesnewskyj] asks this Court to disqualify the votes of several Canadian citizens”

I think it was given in that article, They should put the hiring of temp. workers on hold until this is looked into. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/government+investigating+claims+about+Chinese+recruiters+looking+miners/7432277/story.html and http://www.vancouversun.com/news/metro/Coal+mine+temporary+workers+will+here+years/7388916/story.html “There is a true shortage of workers in northern B.C.,” said Campbell, a former employment standards officer in the B.C. Labour Ministry. “These Chinese workers are not going to be replaced by Canadians in this current economy. They will likely be nominated by the company for permanent residency and work in northern B.C. for years, if not decades.”

Canadian miners make a lot more than minimum wage about $34.00 If the recruitment process and tactics are against our laws then they should be charged. I'm not sure that actually requiring Mandarin is legal, did they do that or is that supposition ? I just read that the gov't is investigating http://resourceclips.com/tag/canadian-dehua-lvliang-international-mines-group-inc/

Harper sells Canada to China: Democracy?
scribblet replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
He has a majority of seats which is the way our system works, always has. This gov't is no different than any other gov't with a similar majority. As far as the statements go about this deal, so far we have only seen opinions, no fact. In order to get the facts we need to read it ourselves, or somehow find an unbiased source to lay it all out for us. An opinion piece from rabble or similar places isn`t fact. I doubt anyone here has read the agreement, I haven't, not sure I will either. Peeves said Obviously any agreement was studied and is a positive for Canada."... ` Why would a gov`t sign onto something that appears to be so bad for Canada, what would the PM gain from such a thing. Harper isn`t working for anyone other than Canada, he wants what we all do, something that will benefit Canada, so why would he sign onto something that is supposedly so bad. Maybe someone who has read the agreement can point out the pertinent parts. P.S. The first link is to an opinion piece by Ellen Rainwater who mentions the Tyee... who is Ellen Rainwater, is it just a letter to the editor ? -

McGuinty Resigns as Premier of Ontario
scribblet replied to nittanylionstorm07's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Who cares, but Bob Rae was in a high dudgeon about the Feds prorogation - you know how he emulates a windmill and looks like he has apoplexy.- 185 replies

Definitely has pension reform. C-46 Pension Reform Act was passed unanimously by all parties through the House of Commons. In doing so all parties also agreed to keep all other sections of the bill together in one bill. It also proves the Opposition can understand even complex provisions and form a view on them in less than a day. NCC 1977 Pension Ad

McGuinty Resigns as Premier of Ontario
scribblet replied to nittanylionstorm07's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Exactly - McGuinty's green policies might have created 'green' jobs but more jobs were lost due to the increasing cost of energy. Power prices are set to rise a further 46 per cent by 2015, which cause more damage, unless something is done now. Would Hudak do it, maybe, but I doubt the NDP would decrease energy costs.- 185 replies
