  1. There was something about the chevy volt subsidies too... http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/07/obama-proposes-bumping-chevy-volt-subsidy-up-to-10k/ http://www.mediaite.com/online/volt-obama-2012-parody-chevy-commercial-pokes-at-obama-future/
  2. So how does a gov't increase full time jobs ?
  3. Are you serious ?
  4. Guess this isn't about the The Avengers, the British spy program with Patrick MacNee - excellent show.
  5. Sure, which speaks to why no GG or LG has ever refused one. (that I know of) they are really bound to the advice of the first minister in question. This is all just huffing and puffing, it's a tried and true practice, depends on which side of the fence you on as to whether or not you agree.
  6. Where did my post say or even suggest that ?
  7. His resignation is 'imminent', he did not have to prorogue, he could've appointed a deputy leader. It's a complete escape from responsibility and accountability, when he finally leaves he can say And yes, the media treating this very differently . Not too many screaming about it this time, no facebook pages protesting, no screams of outrage etc. etc. even the media is holding back. Why didn't the LG say no to this one, has GG or LG said NO, ever ? Muted outrage and sure not too upset on twitter http://www2.macleans...ys-resignation/ If Harper's strategic prorogations were not okay, than neither is McGuinty’s, or if Harper’s were an affront to democracy, so is McGuinty’s. Can't have it both ways.
  8. Not so, prorogation is a tool used many times in parliament, in fact, around 120 times at least, Harper's was no precedent at all. McGuinty has set a precedent by not not giving an end date. I'm pretty sure Chretien had the longest prorogue period, but McGuinty's could beat that one. Not too many screaming about it this time, no facebook pages protesting, no screams of outrage etc. etc. even the media is holding back. Why didn't the LG say no to this one, has GG or LG said NO, ever ? http://www.parl.gc.c...Sec=Ch25&Seq=12
  9. I have noticed the difference in reactions to this, where is the outrage, the dictatorships, the jack boots - Actually, McGuinty hasn't gone yet, his resignation is only, imminent, so in this case we have the conjugation of a requested prorogation and an imminent resignation.
  10. Wilfrid Laurier ideas on Immigrants and being a Canadian in 1907 still apply today, or should. 'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes a Canadian and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet a Canadian, and nothing but a Canadian... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is a Canadian, but something else also, isn't a Canadian at all. We have room for but one flag, the Canadian flag... And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the Canadian people.' Wilfrid Laurier 1907
  11. Prroguing is merely a tool at a first minister’s disposal, resigning saved his butt and staved off an election, it bought time for the party and most of all, he won't be held to account. The 'contempt' motion was a partisan political game, same as it was with the federal opposition. Resigning saved him from a vote of non-confidence and also leaves him able to say he resigned rather than fired as will no longer be held to account. Interesting how people can rationalize what McGuinty did because we know had it been a conservative the reaction would be far different. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/opinion/McGuinty+every+right+prorogue/7405808/story.html
  12. I saw that part, she really did step over the line when it came to helping out Obama shen she actually tried to clarify a point about the recent terrorist attack. I don't think I've ever seen a moderator step in like that in favour of a particular candidate.
  13. This is today's news http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/polls/262557-gallup-romney-opens-up-6-point-national-lead Mitt Romney picked up two points overnight among likely voters and now holds a 6-percentage point lead nationally over President Obama, according to Gallup’s daily tracking poll. Romney takes 51 percent support against 45 percent for Obama in the Gallup poll of likely voters, and also leads 48 to 46 among registered voters.
  14. I always liked John Manley, he would be a great choice from Liberal perspective, far better than Trudeau or McGuinty.
  15. Hudak and Horwath don't want the legislature shut down, can they stop it?
  16. Don't forget McGuinty remains Premier until they choose a new leader who will then have to will have to call an election to get a mandate. I'd guess at a winter leadership race with a June 2013 election.
  17. The letter in the link seems to be genuine, and her own site says so. http://www.ronaambro...alala-yousufzai http://news.gc.ca/we...g.do?nid=700359 okay Kady confirms it Congratulations Rona.
  18. Wonders if classless Rick Mercer took his wooden phallic symbol out for a test drive

  19. Nice derailing of a topic and note the lack of truthiness at your end.
  20. Rona Ambrose is to be awarded U.N. Women Canada Award, and is dedicating it to the Taliban shooting victim Malala Yousufzai "for her courage". Kudos to MS. Ambrose for being the recipient, and for the dedication. http://www.scribd.com/doc/110098047/Letter-from-UN-Women-Canada-to-Minister-Rona-Ambrose
  21. That's okay, when all else fails, attack the poster rather than elucidate an intelligent reply.
  22. Sure LOL Rumour has it that the Federal Liberal party power monger mucky mucks have recruited Dalton to run against Justin for the Federal Liberal Party leadership.
  23. Wonder if the left will cry about him proroguing parliament -
  24. I just read it too, I'm 'gob smacked' I can't believe he's done in politics, bet he will run for the Fed. leadership. Unless Hudak ups his game or gets out of the way, I can smell an NDP win... OMG... run for the hills
