  1. There was a report in 2004 recommending that Ontario accept Sharia based law on some issues because back in 1991 the NDP gov't passed legislation allowing Jews and Christians to use faith-based tribunals to settle family based issue etc. . When some Muslim groups demanded the same thing for their faith, (that decisions of Sharia tribunals be recognized in Ontario courts) McGuinty did consider it but had to back down because of the backlash. Therefore he did away with the whole thing, one of the few good decisions he made.
  2. They do know that but prefer not to accept the reality. Better to blame Harper for it.
  3. I don't bet, but I do believe they won't come up with any conclusive evidence either way, doesn't mean I hope they will fail. In fact I hope they do come up with something and soon. Put a stop to all the speculation and innuendo.
  4. Could he really have resigned because of Benghazi, is that letter about "an affair" is just another cover up.
  5. Well, quite a few are allready laying people off... didn't take long. There are more, but you get the idea. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/sns-ap-il--coal-layoffs-energy-policies-20121109,0,3628608.story A list of many business announcing layoffs: http://www.examiner.com/article/scores-of-us-businesses-announce-closings-and-layoffs-due-to-obama-s-re-election
  6. Wow, there are a large no. of U.S. companies laying off people, I'm surprised it happened so fast.

Business is skittish. You have the Dodd-Frank act coming-up and Obamacare going to be a frank reality for employers.

  7. I personally never said I hoped they will fail, so please don't impute words that were never said.
  8. Elections Canada seems to be pretty ineffective, I'll bet nothing ever comes of it. Where's CSI when you need 'em. Again, no fact about anything, still speculation.
  9. But the union doesn't like it so it must wrong
  10. Still going on about it, sheer pettiness. Look at it this way. This security detail is a whole lot cheaper than a state funeral and ensuing enquiries. The media would be first in line absolutely outraged over why better security precautions were not taken. Never mind, carry on.
  11. It doesn't mean anything other than he accepted a job in S.A. More speculation and innuendo, but spin on.
  12. Comments are saying outsourcing to American hands, but the article says IBM Canada. Maybe the assumption is that IBM will outsource to India. More info here, it seems the gov't won't be actually saving money but will be more efficient ? http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/business/nova-scotia-announces-deal-to-outsource-payroll-procurement-info-to-ibm-177873631.html
  13. I'm confused, why could this happen in 2013, next year?
  14. Madness, the fiscal cliiff is looming.
  15. An analysis from the CBC, some good points particularly about the fiscal cliff. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/11/07/f-vp-hall-obama-canada.html excerpted: About the fiscal cliff In the meantime, the federal government will hit its legal debt limit before the end of this year--which means before the new Congress is seated--and that "extraordinary measures" will be needed before then to keep the government fully funded into the early part of 2013. http://www.treasury.gov/press-center/press-releases/Pages/tg1753.aspx
  16. I thought this was an interesting piece from Spiegel, prior to the results. http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/spiegel-commentary-about-us-election-campaign-a-865431.html Regardless which candidate wins the US presidential election on Tuesday, neither of them has been honest to the American people about the scale of the problems facing the country. But Americans have only themselves to blame. They prefer to be lied to rather than to face the truth.
  17. It seems to me the media isn't reporting much on this, maybe now the election is over they will, but so far they seem to be trying to sweep it under the rug.
  18. Right, it is all supposition as we know only that the RCMP and CISIS deemed it necessary. Nothing to do with how you or others like to characterize Harper, in fact as said before, it's nothing but petty and shallow complaining about nothing to score political points. Yup, we got a great leadership and a great country.
  19. Many obviously, at least not security as deemed by RCMP and CSIS, 'they 'know better than the professionals I suppose.
  20. Partly I think, but also because America is not the same as it used to be. There are many more groups who IMO are looking more to the gov`t for 'entitlements' and handouts, they are looking for more gov't funding etc. One of the reasons P.R. wants to be a 51st state, more handouts from the gov't.
  21. Net result: After the expenditure of 2 billion bucks and endless campaigning, the US is right back to the start line: Obama in power and the nation heading into a financial maelstrom. I just bought some U.S. dollars on line while it's still down. I've read a lot of talk about reforming the Electoral College, in fact Obama was in favour of it, wonder if he still is. http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/264347-obama-clinton-backed-reforms-to-electoral-college-after-bush-v-gore
  22. Some of them are voting Obama when pushing Obama http://www.examiner.com/article/rnc-touch-screen-voting-machines-cast-votes-for-obama-instead-of-romney
  23. He's our PM and I remember that. Our PMs are entitled to security as deemed necessary by the RCMP and CSIS. Petty nonsense is all.
  24. Conference calls don't do it in the end, at some point there has to be face to face negotiations. This is all petty, mean spirited crap meant to gain political brownie points by those who simply want Harper to fail.
  25. No proof, not now not ever. Actually I wouldn`t mind seeing that and how other PMs travelled, have other PMs used armoured vehicles or they didn`t bother with security ?
