The accuracy of those reports may / may not be an issue. However the Captain of the Cornwall stated emphatically they were NOT in Iraq waters. Disputes over territorial waters are ongoing all over th world - in fact Canada has several with the United States and with Denmark. I suspect sabre rattling at this time would be more detrimental to the cause than not. I also suspect those soldiers may be gone for a very long time unless there is some serious negotiating from both sides. Unfortunately, the Iranians have very little to lose and much to gain - so they will be in the drivers seat - should they indeed even be interested in solving this issue. The Brits care far more about the welfare of their people than the Iranians would about Iranian soldiers or sailors. I suspct it will play out over a couple of months - hope I am wrong but that is my immediate take on this one. Borg

Yup - it is a great place - so great people are dying to leave - literally. Folks love to kick the U.S. in the ass, but Cuba can trade elsewhere. When they do, the corrupt regime takes the money and runs. People in Cuba are not the happy and economically strong folks the touristas love to talk about. Instead all that money they leave behind simply finances that very same regime. The U.S. does not prevent the economy from growing. There is nothing those folks can get from the U.S. that they cannot get from European or Canadian trade. Any country that is willing to build a fence and / or kill and / or imprison the population simply for attempting to leave is a bad place over all. Yep. Farms, small and large business' all will raise their prices to pay for these increases. Small and large business perhpas - farms - not likely. They are commodity based and therefore price takers not price setters. Admitedly there may be a few exceptions - but the vast majority of farms will simply have to suck it up or reduce hiring. As one of those considered "rich" by the NDP - I do pay a pile of tax - even though I consider myself to be nothing more than a middle class kind of guy. If you can fix the system so any idiot (myself included) with a calculator can do his taxes - and we can get rid of all those tax lawyers and accountants - including nearly the entire Rev Canada department - then not only do you get my vote, but you get my eternal gratitude. I pay to much tax and get very little for it. As do many others. Spread the wealth and get out of my life - that would be wonderful. Just change it / fix it / trash it. What we have now really is not working. Anyone thinking it does work has never dealt with Rev Canada on a serious matter. I am nearly to the point of wishing someone or something would "kill them all and let God sort it out". (A joke people - a joke) We really are due for an over-haul on the tax system - unfortunately all it will likely do is further entrench those who complicate the system in order to perpetuate and protect their positions. The reason for this is the people who do the over-haul will be the same folks who are in situ now - and they recognize the need for complexity in order to preserve their jobs. It needs to be completed a couple of folks with a modicum of sense and an ability to think outside the tradtitional lines. And certainly there should be no accounting folks in anything other than an advisory position while this transition takes place. Borg

It is simply another method of removing money from this country and sending iot elsewhere. I do not know anyone foolish enough to do / have done this - other than the Europeans who send their money to that wonderful, friendly and welcoming country called China.
