Actually it does not surprize me. It is a tempest in a tea pot. Of 47,000 people, 1,000 failed. I think that is pretty good average. Running at around 2%. Remedial action could lower that to less than 1%. When I consider the long hours some spend at their desks in order to ensure "beans, bullets and blood" get purchased, stored and delivered I think the military has done quite well. I doubt there are many large companies that could match this fitness level. Imagine their reduced healthcare costs and the amount of increased productivity. Yeah, I know the military needs to be able to go to war. But less than 5% actually do. The remainder are typical Canadians doing their job under tougher circumstances. Topaz - could you pass the BFT? Well, at least the news media is telling us they feel hoodwinked - how true it is only the locals really know. In fact I believe it is simply a problem created by tribalism - the strong rule and the weak serve. A weak democracy at the best of times, the destabilizing influences need to be stopped. How that is to be done will be dictated by the strong. Unlike Canada, some parts of the world are quite comfortable with killing their enemies. Tribe before flag. I suppose I could also go on and state the muslem faction is doing most of the destabilization - but that would simply lead to me being called a muslim basher. Either way - when arms stop crossing the P'stan border into other countries and the tribes stop harbouring terrorists in P'stan and the streets of P'stan are safe once again, democracy may be reinstated. Until then I go back to the "strong rule and the weak serve". If P'stan citizens had really wanted to straighten out their problems they would have done so - doing nothing simply makes their government - legal, illegal, elected or not - act as they see fit for the situation. You do not have to like it - it is simply the way it is in many parts of the world. Sooner or later it will get sorted out. Hell, even Canada resorted to marshall law once. Canada got over it. Interesting. Two relatives - both in college - worked last summer in the western part of Canada. They made just over $12,000 dollars each. One college kid worked in Ontario and was happy to find a job at 12 bucks an hour. She is moving west next summer. Want the help you gotta pay - eastern business has had it easy for a few years. The west bound lane of most Canadian provinces is starting to get beat up with all the travel to the pariries. Sooner or later it will turn around, but not for a bit. Borg

Why is BlackwaterUSA training Canadian troops?? Because those private contractoes are specialists troops from all over the world - they have incredible experience and they are very competent and professional. While I am an admirer of the Canuck military - should BW decide to take on Canada - they have the ability, equipment and physical numbers to trounce us. Excellent experience and excellent teaching might combine to bring a few extra guys and gals home on their feet rather than in a box. I am all for this training. Borg
