Look who's concerned about weaponization of space
Borg replied to myata's topic in The Rest of the World
China - a country that receives aide from various world agencies. A country with a top notch air force, a world class navy, a nuclear energy program, a nuclear weapons program and an excellent space program. A country that will receive even more free money from the Kyoto accord - Europe is now placing billions in Chinese coffers for carbon credits. And this money goes to develop the various military and space programs. Yup, with a double digit econimic growth factored in it would appear to me that China should be sending aide to Canada. Look out - this is a country that is not to be trifled with. They do not play fair and do not give a damn about consequences - if they want it they will take it. A massive population and possibly the strongest military in the world today. Their time is soon to be at hand and we will quite possibly not like it when they do decide to impose their will upon some country. Borg -
catchme - you are absolutely right Men are such pricks - each and every one of them - all potential rapists and killers and scum of the earth. Not a good one to be found anywhere. I will just pack up my tent and leave now - after all, you have proved your point that the problem is men and the fact they are animals. Joke for you - hmmm - nope - you would take it personal and tell everyone I have proved your point. Glad you are not my mom / wife / sister / daughter. On the other hand if you were, and you were troubled by a male of the species you would likely know how to handle it and get clear before the police manage to arrive. Why would you not preach arming for self defence? You would love the women of this family - I know us men do. Oops - I bet you come back with some soft - can't be done because someone might get hurt. I am so tired of women complaining about how men are slime. Of course, there is never a return to the swing on this door is there? Have a good one. Borg

Yup - 25 - or more? - or less? - prostitutes or drug addicts or whatever - that were once children and girl friends and possibly wives and so on are dead because of an alleged murderer. A tragedy and a travesty. Yet there are serial killers that are of the female persuasion as well. Just because a man kills a woman - does that mean he is evil as a man, or is he evil as a killer? Just because a woman drowns all of her children - does that make her evil as a woman, or is she evil as a killer? Or do we wait for someone to explain it all away with a couple of studies, some religious background and a medical problem? Perhaps I am one of the few, but I give a damn who those women were or what they did. I also detest anyone who would attempt to make miles out of the fact they were women. They are dead. Now, let's get to the bottom of the issue - who did it? Then kill the killer. Borg

Bomb threats? Separatists? Never happen. Why - because the average Kebec person would not want to lose the gravy train of money coming on from western Canada. All talk - no action - nothing to see here folks - move along ... move along ...... Borg

I will bet you 20 million dollars that this was not written by a.) a woman or b.) an invisible entity. It was written by men. Human men who, in their era, saw women as property to be controlled. ... and the world is flat AND the sun orbits the earth... We no longer believe the above, so why do some people continue to believe words written over 2000 years ago? I started into this thread and stopped here - not wanting to be bothered reading the entire load of drivel - but as for women being property and believing / not believing words written many years ago? Go ask your local mullah, because I know of no western religion that does these things now. Only your friendly neighbourhood mullah can provide what you need. Awaiting the response of slings and arrows ......... Borg

To quote myself on another Board: (The latter quote was from the memoirs of a family that escaped Germany right after Kristallnacht, and made it to Australia) I have tears in my eyes as I write this. To me, it is simply unbelievable that the people lucky enough to inhabit countries such as the US, Canada, and Australia don't realize what a privilege it is. These are countries where one can do almost anything they want, make anything of themselves that their abilities allow, and say or write anything they want. I wish upon Cindy Sheehan coming upon a concentration camp full of bodies and near-dead people, whose only crime was being Jewish, being a gypsie, etc. Then, let them call Bush a dictator. I am politically a liberal. I am ashamed to share a party registration and overall ideology with them. How sweet. I do not see it as you do - despite the apparent similarities in our background. In your lifetime maybe - in mine for sure - this country will have to make serious changes or fail. I wonder if the people have the guts to do so? Nope. Otherwise it would have happend by now. Change only comes when forced - I wonder if this country can survive that change when forced - in my opinion no - in yours - I would suspect yes. We will see. I am patient. Borg

Oh Where Oh Where Does Our (and Paul Martin's) Africa Aid Go?
Borg replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
Africa? A waste of time. Foreign aide? Forget it. Money is almost always spent wisely when it is spent at home. Forget musicians - forget politicians. Time we think for ourselves. Fix this country first!!! Infrastructure, education, medicine, industry, and the beat goes on. Tell the remainder of the world this country comes first - if there is anything left when we are finished - then and only then will we sit down to discuss how your problem can be sorted out. I donate to local causes before I attempt to "feeeed the woorrlllddd". Borg -
What will most likely happen is a general with some old tanks and a few machine guns will impose his rule upon the country. Cubans in Miami will dance in the streets - but do not be surprized if they are not allowed to return to the island. The new ruler will most likely be quite happy to continue with the way things are at present. I doubt democracy or any other type of "friendly" rule will take place. In fact I would bet there are some serious dealings taking place within the military - and at the highest levels as I write. Someone will want to be the head honcho - and you can be sure it will not happen by election. The guns and ammo are not in the hands of the people - the guns and ammo are in the hands of the future rulers. A few weeks of chaos and the tourists can go back to subsidizing the Cuban elite - while thinking they are actually helping the Cuban worker.. Borg

What holds us together? The lack of courage to separate and do it cleanly. Kebec can leave tomorrow and good riddance. They go with their share of the debt and ta ta! Take Ontario with them and be done - they can continue the fight without bringing the remainder of the country down. Alberta can happily survive at present without Canada - if they leave - I am with them in a heart beat. Hell. B.C. could join - along with the other two western provinces and form a country far more capable of - dare I say it? Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In fact as far as I am concerned the average Canuck from Ont or kebec is not much to consider - always wanting what the other province has - unable to protect his/her home without fear of prosecution - over taxed - more worried about the language spoken - and the beat goes on. Weak, ineffective, complaining, whining trash for the most part - always looking for a hand out or complaining about what is "fair or not fair". While I served this country for many years - the longer I live the less I love it. I think it is because I see the rot in the two largest provinces getting worse and the people happily following along. Borg

Do Women Live in Fear? Criminal Sentencing.
Borg replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
In a nutshell - men bad - women good - legal system gender favoured. Yawn. As has been stated the gate swings both ways. I have not taken a belt or a stick to my wife - but I have been tempted!! Come to think of it - over the past many years there is probably at least one time she has been tempted as well. Perhaps more. Find your lobby group - get some sympathetic left leaning female media type and keep up the hype - but while you are at it look up the same thing - only this time make it male abused by female partners. And the wheel on the bus goes round and round - round and round - round and round ........ Borg -
No sympathy - do the crime do the time. Hard time. No perks - basic - very basic minimum health care if you put yourself at risk. I do not believe I am responsible for their well being - other than to feed them and keep them locked up. Worried aboutdisease? Ban and truly enforce the ban against so called body art. Truly enforce smuggling of various drugs and "stuff" as well. It can be done - the will is not there. Not even interested in arguing the point - society would be better off with most crims permanently locked up - or better - placed in a self governing prison near Alert - very high Arctic. Borg

Should we allow foreigners to buy Canada?
Borg replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
To answer the original question: Sure - why not? We have been doing this forever and have lost actual control ofwhatever resources this country has - wait for it - water is going to be the next real big one - already started in a small way - but it will get real big - real soon. Someone / some enitity will be taking big water out of the lakes and selling it aorund the world. Legislation, free trade and what ever other contracts that are in place will somehow be modified and or ignored to allow this to happen for "the good of all Canadians". After all Canada has more water than it needs. Borg -
Supply management in Canada looks after the poultry producer and the milk producer. While it is tough out there in agriculture, there are no supply management deals for the hog producer, the corn producer, the beef producer and so on. If they are able to stand on their own two feet and make it work - then why are we guaranteeing the poultry and dairy producers an income? Which is pretty much what supply management does. Someone back up the line mentioned a Son-in-Law selling his dairy out. Hmmm .... with quota running somewhere in the high $20K's and having hit the low $30K's - I suspect he is doing well. Even after paying everyone off - after all he probably had about 40 kilos - somewhere in the million two bracket. As for poultry - somewhat off topic - to start into the game - poultry quota costs a minimum of $750,000 just to start into the game. The Ontario poultry industry is essentially controled by two families - no one else has the start up capital. End supply management - end it now - let those who can make it continue - the remainder can sink - or sell out. Borg

That's just silly. The Americans may not be perfect, but they're not habitual butchers like Saddam or his "Republican Guard". Why not stop the reflex criticism of forces for good in the world? Reflex criticism? Not. Well thought out and decided upon criticism, yes. Hardly. More like you believe everything you read in the media At least the Iraqi people knew who the enemy was didn't they. Nope - their neighobours informed for favours - their bosses did it for gain - you are so out of touch. Now it can be there next door neighbour or an American soldier might think that they are the "bad guy". Yup - it was before and it is now. But the Yankee dogface does not wantonly kill - unlike the portrayal of the media. In fact they are afraid to pull the trigger in event they are charged with murder - It has taken away the ability to shoot first - a bad thing - you generally have to have something in the air - coming your way before you can open fire - I wish people like you would speak about this shit only after you had been there instead of in your lotusland life protected by your locks and your herbologist. Good Iraqis wear red and bad Iraqis wear blue? Smart assed comment providing nothing - perhaps you would like to add Polish wearing green and so on? How can you tell an insurgent from a citizen? You cannot you dummie!!! That is the frigging problem. It is scary - ever been so shit scared you shook? Yeah the American bad man - is more frightened than the average Haji - because he does not know who is who in the zoo - and he gets kicked every day by people like you. Well actually you sometimes can. They sweat. They are scared. They are usually chanting under their breathe - their eyes are not happy ones - and if you let them get close you die. But you have to learn to pick this out - that way they die first. In fact the Hajis kill more of their own than the soldiers have or will. How can a citizen tell the difference, let alone a soldier from a foreign country? Trust me - the citizens know. They all know - when things are about to happen the cars start leaving - filled with people - that is how it almost always starts. It is the same in afghanistan and it is the same in Lebanon and it is the same in all those damned third world countries that Canadians pity rather than fear - and fear them they should. *Force for good in the world? Pffft. The Propaganda is working well on you I see. You self righteous B*&^%*& - you only have the ability to speak as you do because so many laid down their lives - and I would bet you would be one to have spit on any Canuck who served in Vietnam. Iraq and Afghan Land are on - they will not stop now - one is American initiative and one is NATO initiative - bottom line is the west will be there for years and cannot leave - to leave is to lose and this war cannot be lost - otherwise it WILL come to you in Lotusland. If Americans believe they are a force for good in the world, why do they insist on wearing a maple leaf when they travel overseas? Funny - I travel the world on a monthly basis - I have heard of this but never seen it. A myth. *Lovely marketing tag line there . You are weak and have little true knowledge of what is happening there - it shows. Apologies to to others. Borg

Adscam II is coming back real soon.
Borg replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've had the same questions for a long time now and have given up. The Liberal party of Canada looted our tax dollars and Canadians will still support. Same as third world style politics. I want you to ask another question - where did all the money that went into foundations during Lib rule go? I believe it is unaccounted for as well. The average Canadian voter is an idiot. If it was good enough for Gramps and Grandma - then the Libs are good enough for me. It is rare to see a Liberal Canuck who is capable of actually doubting the truth of any CBC news broadcaster. Pompous Pete is a well trusted favourite. I figure he is as trustworthy as the CBC is - but he packs tremendous impact when he smiles and gives that CBC friendly interview to any Liberal bagman out there. Viewers love him and the CBC enough to not even consider the fact that they may be twisting events - just a little teeny bit. So, they will keep voting in coruption. After all - c'mon - Chretien did not know about things in Kebec - Martin was an honest man and he did not know about any problems in Kebec - and for sure Dion, our France passport carrying Liberal leader, would not have known. Those non-elected people hired to help the politicians in Kebec were the guilty boys and girls - they kept it all from the politicians. It must be so, because no investigative reporter has ever turned up anything to the contrary. The average Canadian voter is an idiot. The proof is in the proof which is a proof if it is proven - or words to that effect. God love the idiots who vote Lib - no one else does. Borg -
Immigrants sending babies back home
Borg replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well maybe we should setup national childcare so this doesn't happen. We need these people to use more of our services than they already do. Canada - welfare to the world. Tsk! Tsk! One might think you live in Alberta instead of insipid and politically correct Ontario. Borg -
Immigrants sending babies back home
Borg replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Gotta' love it - come here - breed - create a Canadian citizen - send it back to the point of parental origin. Parents make money, never become citizens and leave for point of origin. Take all that money with them. Parents retire - send child home to Canada - after all child is a citizen. Child sponsors parents who come here for free medicare in old age. That is financial forecasting!!! Borg -
Greetings folks! Happy New Year and all that stuff. Back from a long trip to a desert. I am sure you all missed me. Borg ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Catchme wrote: Environment: A whole industry can be made out of environmental changes that would sustain the environment and help the economy. First; with wind, solar, and wave means of developing power. Very true and well put - as ong as you do not support Kyoto and sending my hear dearned Canucklebuck to some tinpot dictator so he can spend it creating jobs for his people Canuck jobs Industries using hydo,or fossil fuels to operate, that release heat admissions as part of their processing could be tied to green houses and food producers in northern climates to grow produce closer to destination points or at destination points. I.e. pulp mills release huge amounts of heat that can, and is being used to heat green houses, and it could be done on a larger scale with investment and support. This would cut down gas emissions from transporting produce, which is actually significant emissions, utilize lost heat/energy into the enivironment. It would also cut down on food costs and road repairs. Good points Put more money into recycling and recycling plants making the transportation and the separation more efficient. This is an industry that can gro faster than it is, there are many studies on this out there. Well I am not a recycler - until it makes money, is self supporting and is more efficient than using new stuff - it ain't happening. Nope - not worried about the environment. It is not so bad here in Canuckville. BUt if you really want to try and force it on someone try China, India and Pakistan - their polution factors are pretty high. Let's keep the tax payers money out of this one Insure that industries are compliant with world environmental policies. Markets are lost because industry are not complying. Esp the forest industry. Compliant? Wolrd policy? Sorry as a Canuck I am damned if the world tells me how to run my part of the ground. Oops! I am Canadian - I tremble when outfits like the corupt United Nations squeal like the oinkers they are. Well, in the end everyone will come to us for what they need if we have it. When one market closes another opens. Forestry is doing pretty well at the moment. Encourage the use of rail transport over that of long distance truck hauling by giving incentives to companies than can use rail as opposed to trucks. Could not agree more with the use of rail - just keep the money from the tax payer out of the equation. Give them a tax break? I can go with that - but no other subsidies please - they pay full price for fuel, land and such. There are so many ways. Health Care Get the College of Physicians and Surgeons out of the buiness of who says who can be Drs in Canada or not. Hardly! I do not want some quack from a third rate nation and a fourth rate education coming here and simply setting up shop. However I DO SUPPORT 2 Tier Health Care - if you can pay go to the head of the other line please and shorten this one. Thank you very much! Get more Nurse Pratictioners out into the out laying areas these would be in place of,or assisting Drs on a greater scale than regular Nurses can. Yup good idea - you going to place them in jail in these areas and FORCE them to treat the locals? Freedom of movement issues here that you have missed. Focus more on holistic health. Huh? Whatever - anyone can set up I suppose - if it works fine - but I think I will stick with the College Stop spending so much on administratative costs cut down on levels of admins and admin areas A typically common response - but no one has managed to date Regulate toxic foods and products better. Toxic food? I am getting abetter picture now. Just what is a toxic food and how is it legally sold and how can one regulate this? Place criminal charges against executives running the company that sells this poison? Fund families so they can look after loved ones at home instead of institutions and hospitals This is a good one - but difficult to do - money from the tax payer? I would accept tax incentives - but nothing more. No cash thanks - too much room for abuse. Focus more on home care and put more resources there as opposed to hospitals and facilities. They both have their place - home care works - but only to a point - and not everyone is willing to do so. Have a national day care program so that health care professionals that work shift work can actually get child care to meet their needs. Institutionalize brain washing for children? Nope - worst idea possible. Bring those kids up at home - or do not have them. Kids are a parents responsibility - NOT THE FEDS!!!! Make your choice - career or kids and follow your responsibilities - do not expect the government to bail you out if you refuse your parental duties. Take ALL money from the military and put it into health care, the environment education and treaty ratification. Now you show your true lack of knowledge - a country that neither feed itself or defend itself will lose the ability to rule itself. Stop corporate welfare at all levels of government. What is this? I want those companies to make LOTS of money - more the better. That way they stay here and do not leave for other shores. Besides - the shareholders make a little extra as well. Stop paying seniors OAS who do not need it. And watch those who are on the cusp of not needing it to see if they go our of country longer than a month, if they do revoke it. Well in fact OAS is clawed back when the person is deemed to "make too much money". By the way - how much money should a senior make to NOTbe considered making too much money? I am surprized, but I agree - you want OAS you live in Canada - no I do not care how long you paid into it and I do not care who you are - want the bucks - live here. Stop giving MP and MLA's pensions who are there shorter times than 10 -15 years. 20 years minimum. No double dipping allowed. Pension based upon 2% per year and average of last 6 years salary. Bonuses and committee money to NOT be included in calcuations. Now for the Borg list: 1. Quadruple the military budget - more if possible. 2. Secure the Arctic. 3. Free education to the first degree for every Canadian citizen who IS BORN in Canada - fail one course and you are out. Period! It might not be fair - tough titty - it is my list. 4. Develop the oil sands in Saskatchewan. 5. Equal rights – throw it out. The only people with rights are law abiding citizens of this country. All others will be held to the letter of the law – illegal immigrants - will be detained until heard. Heard once only. If you succeed you get in – otherwise you are immediately deported. Landing in Canada will no longer grant you Canadian rights. Prisoners will no longer vote. 6. No dual citizenship. 7. Stiffen the borders and round up the nearly 40,000 illegal and ordered deported immigrants. 8. Actively seek immigrants that can speak and function in one of the two official languages. 9. Corporate taxes for Canadian owned and Canadian based companies to be reduced or eliminated. Companies cannot have more than 10% foreign ownership. 10. Develop roads and airport infrastructure into the arctic. 11. Remove government from any non core services – core service to be defence, immigration, coastal waters, environment, and so on. 12. All taxes collected by provinces as per Quebec agreement. 13. Two tier health care. 14. Close the Senate asap Catchme: You are a leftie - and I am not. You will have us drown in government and due to federal social re-engineering over the past 30 years you will likely win. Canada has slowly become a nation of feminatzis and limp wristed men. That’s it for now folks - see you later. Borg

Canadian Charter, Multicultural Heritage & Tony Blair
Borg replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Tony gets it - while many others do not. Borg ----------------------------------------------- Adopt our values or stay away, says Blair By Philip Johnston, Home Affairs Editor Last Updated: 1:12am GMT 10/12/2006 Your view: what next for "multicultural" Britain? Full text of Blair's multiculturalism speech Audio: Andrew Pierce on why Blair isn't facing questions Tony Blair formally declared Britain's multicultural experiment over yesterday as he told immigrants they had ''a duty" to integrate with the mainstream of society. In a speech that overturned more than three decades of Labour support for the idea, he set out a series of requirements that were now expected from ethnic minority groups if they wished to call themselves British. These included "equality of respect" - especially better treatment of women by Muslim men - allegiance to the rule of law and a command of English. If outsiders wishing to settle in Britain were not prepared to conform to the virtues of tolerance then they should stay away. He added: "Conform to it; or don't come here. We don't want the hate-mongers, whatever their race, religion or creed. "If you come here lawfully, we welcome you. If you are permitted to stay here permanently, you become an equal member of our community and become one of us. The right to be different. The duty to integrate. That is what being British means." Mr Blair's volte face - just eight years ago he championed multiculturalism - was the culmination of a long Labour retreat from the cause. In recent weeks, Jack Straw, Ruth Kelly, John Reid and Gordon Brown have all played their part in a concerted revision of the Cabinet's stand which began in earnest after the July 7 suicide bombings in London last year. Mr Blair, speaking in Downing Street, said the diversity of cultures in Britain should still be celebrated but the tone of his speech was against the ideology that became known as multiculturalism. "The right to be in a multicultural society was always implicitly balanced by a duty to integrate, to be part of Britain, to be British and Asian, British and black, British and white," he said The bombings had thrown the whole concept of a multicultural Britain "into sharp relief" and highlighted the divisions in society. While it was right that people should enjoy their own cultures, they should do so under a single set of overarching values. "When it comes to our essential values, the belief in democracy, the rule of law, tolerance, equal treatment for all, respect for this country and its shared heritage — then that is where we come together, it is what gives us what we hold in common; it is what givesright to call ourselves British," said Mr Blair. "At that point no distinctive culture or religion supercedes our duty to be part of an integrated United Kingdom." -
Yup! Yup! The devil will sell us out and the people will be cold and naked in the streets. You are such a foolish person - or you have little faith in Canadians. Be that as it may China, India and Europe are pretty big shareholders in this country. But that does not bother you - even though this has taken place during the past lib rule? Where were you then? Cuddling up to your local lib polly for a taste of some pork? It is a fact that Canada is attractive and it is a fact that our laws as they stand allow significant foreign investment. My favourite example was walking the tracks from Williams Lake to a small camp one afternoon a couple of years ago. The steel was stamped = "Made In Japan" They take our iron ore from the mines they control here in Canada - use the coal and the coke from the mines here in Canada - ship it all to Japan - transform it into high grade rail steel and ship it back to Canada - sell it to the railway outfits and still make a profit! Not bad for a bunch of short people. I think they need to be commended for their business abilities. Are Canadians able to do this? Nope. Why? Who knows or cares anymore - Canadians are simply a bunch of social engineered incompetents - and you may be living proof of this. You cannot point the finger at one political group and ignore the other - and in the final analysis, it is the Canadian PEOPLE who have allowed this to happen. Are you one of those folks? Probably. Five bucks to vote for President of Alberta
Borg replied to BubberMiley's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Take a walk along any road for an hour and pick up a few bottles - if you are so serious about getting 5 bucks together you will do it. Otherwise those who are not interested will sit at home. Otherwise sounds like whining to me. Borg -
Yes. Why not? Because rightly or wrongly - a lot folks outside of que are simply tired of que and now consider it to be not much more than a pain in the ass at the best of times. I am starting to see this in Ont now as well. Surprizing how it appears to have grown. This guy will not likely win a lot of friends west of Ont / Man border - but then again the libs never gave that area much more than lip service at the best of times. There must be at least ten or twenty more things that que can demand now that it / they / whatever are to be considered a nation within a nation. Dion is absolutely the best thing that could happen to que and Canada. Borg
-
By the time the legal beagles and the supreme court get done with things - and it is coming - there will be numerous nations in Canada - all screaming for money and rights. And money and rights and money and rights........ We have possibly ripped the fabric - if there ever was one - of this country and no one has the intestinal fortitude to repair it. Borg
-
Hmm. Why would someone kicked off a plane because of their race/religion play the race card? Hmmm? yeah. You did: You've never flown with an orthodox Jew, have you? Yeah, i'm sure they'll get right on that... Ah yes - the Black Dog - Man of action, gentleman of leisure - and oh, so very superior to all of you lesser mortals. Borg
-
Himm - Orthodox. Does that mean - forgive me my ignorance please - the beard, ringlets of hair, the little cap and a shawl thingy - plus what appeared to be an old testament bible? Actually I flew from Montreal to Heathrow about a month ago - a man like that sat sat right beside me. He read a lot out of that book until we got up in the air - nervous flier? I figured all of that bobbing and weaving in his seat was prayer - but he was quite low key about it. We had a very interesting conversation about the co-efficient of friction and how it applies to lift on an airfoil - and how to delay the boundary layer separation as the angle of attack is increased. We also discussed the angle of attack on the leading edge of inlet guide vanes on jet engines. He had some very interesting ideas. Then we had some lunch - I had a nap and when I woke up we talked politics for a couple of hours. A very nice man. The subject of his religion never came up. I assumed he was Jewish, but it was not a real problem for me. And your point was? Borg
