    What argument? I am struggling to see why anybody would even post "You are a racist!" It is not interesting statement any more than "Yeah but you are a vegetarian!" would be. I agree. However, "Who is a racist? and Why?" is rarely the topic of any thread. Some of you talk past eachother by conflating the positive and the normative connotations of the term. This happens a lot but since the term "racist" is taken with offense, we suggest that folks avoid derailing a thread.

    "Yeah. I am a racist. So.... what is your point?" Of course not.You are wasting effort defending a "You are racist!" post because mod staff does not care whether the statement is true or not. The veracity of the statement does not enter into the equation of moderator intervention. Correct.Fire-crackers in the theater are annoying.

    The nature of the poster was not the topic of the thread. Next time, get your message across in a more diplomatic way. It has been made very clear multiple times that members are to avoid personal attacks. Objectively, your post would derail the discussion. Subjectively, your post would inflame the discussion.

    Those posts are collateral damage. The offending post and all posts that branched from the offending post were taken down. After taking down the offending post, there is a choice: Do we leave up the reply that quotes the offending post? do we edit the reply? I chose an expedient intermediate route by hiding all branches from the offending post because I did not want any member to appear talking to a ghost. I have not had the chance to re-copy them all and send them back to all of the members. I intend to do so. We encourage folks to avoid responding to whatever they believe should be deleted. Do whatever you want so long as you do not violate the forum rules, guidelines nor any directive from mod staff. Yes --- so long as your presentation respects the forum rules and guidelines. How am I supposed to know? The onus is upon you to answer that question. You are expected to respect copy-right law. It is that simple.

    You are right. This is not a "one off" circumstance. How members should handle images is the same as how they should handle everything/anything they post in the forum: Do not violate copyright law and do not violate the terms of use as spelled out by the originators of any sources. There is nothing new here. Any further questions?

    CORRECTION: Philosophers and pan-handlers are invited into various venues to keep debating and discussing the same old same old.You are all invited to this MLW venue but there are rules and guidelines. We recognize that a lot of other forums permit cross-posting as a basis to stir discussion. We do not want that here. You can bring up the same topics but your contribution here in this forum must be substantially different from what is posted elsewhere. Otherwise, your postings are objectively indistinguishable from spamming the board with the same old bunch of "science" links under the guise of an argument or of a debate. In the context of continuing a discussion from a thread that was locked due to derailment, we can permit it within reason.If you believe somebody has crossed the line, click the Report button associated with the post and we will make a decision.

    After locking a derailed thread, we invite the membership to continue and or re-start the discussion by re-opening a new thread. Sorry, you are misrepresenting reality. Nobody is being punished.
