  1. No. You are looking at things backwards. If you do not perceive trolling/attacks/thread drift, then do not worry about it. If you do perceive trolling/attacks/thread drift, then ignore it, report it, move on and do not worry about it. If we agree with your report, we will act upon your recommendation. If we disagree with your report, we will not act upon your report and we may send you a message explaining why. SHORT VERSION: Do not respond to that which you want deleted.
  2. Folks, Stop trolling. Stop posting personal attacks. Stop derailing the thread.
  3. Folks, This thread is locked because it devolved into a clutter of personal attacks and off-topic nonsense. Anybody who wants to continue discussing BlackLivesMatter holding the Toronto Gay Pride Parade hostage is welcome to re-start a 2nd thread. Anybody who wants to continue discussing other topics is welcome to start a new thread.
  4. This is not a poetry contest. Members posting ten-minute long posts is not really a problem here. This issue is a distraction. I disagree.
  5. In that case, change the word "censor" to "arbitrarily limit the expression of" and then re-interpret what I wrote. Such a re-interpretation is what I meant. I do not see a need to arbitrarily limit the expression of anybody here in the proposed way because nobody is forced to read anybody's posts. More than enough power is already in your hands: If you think a fellow member's post is too long, the cure is to ignore it and move on! Indeed. That would be expected. It would be more prudent to add something like "Members are expected to avoid posting a string of multiple replies." to the forum rules and guidelines.
  6. Folks, Stop the personal attacks.
  7. Too complicated. There is no need to censor anybody. I would suggest a FastForward, SkipTrack and ReWind script in the empty right-hand collumn beside each post. If anybody knows of such a script, let us know. If nobody knows of such a script, feel free to run with my idea.
  8. Not good enough. This thread is locked because the OP is a poor attempt to start a discussion. Try again!
  9. I have 1 warning from Greg that I earned long ago. I recall clearly how I earned it and I am still ashamed of what I did to deserve it. LOL Nearly 99% of what I read is distasteful, in my opinion ----- everybody included! LOL Of all the various forms of "media" out there, MLW is probably the most benign I have ever encountered. I am not sure "project for grad school" is an accurate representation but here it is: MapleLeafWeb Surprise! Greg plans to revive the main site. He is exploring a couple of innovative ideas but not ready to commit yet to any timeline. Stay tuned. SHORT VERSION: MLW will be an up-to-date resource for Canadian political discourse and history. LOL No. There has been none of that. The forum posts are not the basis of any study. I doubt that will ever happen in the future. Greg's plans for the main site do not need the forum. What do you recommend? Yes, we can! What constitutes a serious publication, in your opinion?
  10. Moderators can not compete with lies/confusion/jokes/over-estimations that are perpetuated by members. What difference, at this point, does it make? The misrepresentation of moderator action/inaction persists. Thanks for the warning but we are dealing with a 3rd case here: no warning was issued and no suspension was issued. To re-cap: 1) moderator did nothing 2) members post innuendo/lies/confusion/jokes of moderator intervention 2.5) moderators have a sense of humor too 3) members believe moderator intervened 4) members who know the truth choose not to disclose the truth
  11. ....and you are right. Such a warning does seem cheap --- assuming it actually happened. Far be it for me to read minds but I think maybe JBG is being sarcastic/humorous and people are not picking up on it. Regardless, nobody was issued a warning for cross-posting "Happy Canada Birthday!" Speaking of cheap, it is interesting to see how easily folks can be convinced of stuff that never happened.
  12. Discussing How To Recognize Climate Change is off topic. Discussing The Defence Planning is on topic. They should take it to a new/old thread. Call it What Color Is The Sky? And Why? if you will.
  13. Folks, Stop the thread drift.
  14. Great! Everything is settled! If you encounter a post that you-believe-violates the forum rules and guidelines, report it, ignore it and move on!!!
  15. Clarification: Who is honest and who is a savior are not the topic of this thread. This: and this: are thread drift. Next question?
  16. Folks, Stop the thread drift.
  17. Just an idea. It is not available. I should probably be posting these suggestions with the software company but if you know anbody who wants to capitalize on it, let him know. You read it here. Yes but your posts are not visible to public view. Posts while suspended are only visible to folks under suspension. To put it an other way, disabled posting activates X-ray goggles.
  18. Folks, This thread is locked because it is a mess. Try again. Good luck!
  19. Cooler Mode While under suspension, members are still able to post in the forums but their posts are hidden from view and only visible to folks under suspension. Members will only be able to make 1 hidden post per suspension. The cost of posting while suspended will be a doubling of the suspension time.
  20. As a reader, I enjoy your posts.
