Also, I would like to point out that modern educators are much harder working and dedicated to the educators of the past who did nothing more than hand out boring worksheets on boring topics such as long division. as for Masters...I will get one next year and you can be as jealous as you want. It won't bother me one bit.

Bryan,you are just trolling. Teachers need a minimum of 5 years post secondary education. Many of us who will complete our masters will require 7 years. After all that hard work people will still complain because teachers will make 90-100 K. It makes me sick. Public education benefits society as a whole. And by the way, I am hearing many good things coming out of your home province of Manitoba in regards to public education. Be glad you have a government that understands the importance of public education and funds it appropriately.

The minimum education for an educator IS NOT 4 years anymore. Look it up.

Educators will be paid more after earning their Masters degree. Better qualified educators (Masters degrees) will improve the system tremendously.

People are upset because they don't understand the 21st Century Skills movement. They still think memorizing times tables out of context is important. You nailed it though. People are upset because the system has moved past the archaic system of old where kids sat in rows and educators lectured knowledge. It's not like that anymore. You have a lot to learn about modern education my friend.

The Alberta government is trying to roll out a positive education initiative called Inspiring Education. This type of curriculum will replace the focus from rote knowledge to actual critical thinking and understanding through a discovery method where educators are expected to be facilitators of learning rather than dictators of boring knowledge. Now take a loom at this petition in Alberta and you will see how little the general public knows about what is best for young learners. I laugh as I read the reasons people give for signing. People DO NOT understand 21st Century Leaning and 21st Century Skills. Just because you went to school in the 70s doesn't mean you are an expert on 21st Century Learning. You can't seem to grasp the obvious. Cut back on education and the education of young learners will suffer, which may cause them to be ill prepared for the work force, not to mention will decrease their understanding of what it takes to be a good global citizen. Like I said, you only see what is one inch in front of your nose. I see the bi picture. Cut back on public education and watch society suffer. Your anecdotal note of your girlfriend seems made up to me, and is thus, material for the garbage can.
