  1. Ever notice whenever the conservatives enter power the ecomomy in in a downward spiral? Let's hope that the ecomomic forecasts are good for the next few years ot the CPC will be out of office before we know it.
  2. In my opinion, its this attitude that is going to bury us. The "One cannot see the forest for the trees", the failure to recognize the ecological and economical worth of sustainably managing these resources. How we manage our growing population, urban expansion, and resource exploitation, will determine our living standards in the future. I like this Keynote speech by Ray Anderson Chairman of the Board, Interface Inc. for its descriptiveness: "I have asked myself over and over for nearly 11 years, and I ask you, how would a living planet—the rarest and most precious thing in the universe—lose its biosphere, i.e., its essential livability? We take it for granted and don’t want to believe losing it is even possible. But, think about it, and you know, if Earth, someday in the distant future, has lost its livability—its biosphere—it will have happened insidiously: One silted or polluted stream at a time; One polluted river at a time; One collapsing fish stock at a time; One dying coral reef at a time; One acidified or entrophied lake at a time; One over-fertilized farm at a time, leading to one algae bloom at a time. One eroded ton of topsoil at a time; One developed wetland at a time; One mansion built on a fragile marsh hammock at a time; One disrupted animal migration corridor at a time; One butchered tree at a time; One corrupt politician at a time; One new open-pit coal mine in a pristine valley at a time; One decimated old growth forest at a time; One lost habitat at a time; One disappearing acre of rain forest at a time; One political pay-off at a time, resulting in one regulatory roll-back at a time; One leaching landfill at a time; One belching smokestack or exhaust pipe at a time; One depleted or polluted aquifer at a time; One desertified farm at a time; One over-grazed field at a time; One toxic release at a time; One oil spill at a time; One breath of fouled air at a time; One-tenth of a degree of global warming at a time; One exotic disease vector at a time; One new disease at a time; One invasive species at a time; One perchlorate contaminated head of lettuce at a time. (Perchlorate is rocket fuel, and it is in the ground water of the San Joaquin Valley, of California thanks to Aerojet General.) One chloro-fluorinated or methyl-brominated molecule of ozone at a time, creating a deadly hole in the ozone ultra-violet radiation shield; One poorly designed carpet at a time; One thoughtlessly designed building or building interior at a time; One misplaced kilogram of plutonium at a time; One more ton of spent nuclear fuel at a time, looking for a safe and secure home for 240,000 (!) years; One advance of urban sprawl at a time; One insensitive or uninformed architect or interior designer or facility manager or manufacturer at a time; One songbird at a time; One PCB-laced orca, one whale, one dolphin, one trumpeter swan, one mountain gorilla, one polar bear, one leatherneck turtle at a time; One entire wild species at a time; and One poverty-stricken, starving, diseased, or exploited human being at a time; That is how it would have happened, and we know that it is happening already just that way—so many ways! You could make your own list, just as long without any duplication. It is a long, long slippery slope, and we are on it. That is the first trend. We are losing one strand of the web of life at a time, inexorably, and it will not stop until either we homo sapiens come to our senses, or we, too, are gone and can do no more damage. If we do come to our senses in time, that will happen one changed mind at a time. " BARF this makes me want to go hug a tree, sell the old ladies fur coat, hand in my seal pup beatin' stick, eat a ganola bar and streak around the neighborhood
  3. Clinton never ran the country. It was a power struggle between pollsters and his wife. Clinton was interested in plenty of people -- so long as they had a nice round behind, an ample bosom and were willing to screw an old man. What's wrong with this? At least he was entertaining
  4. I am throwing my name in the hat. 5. Absolutely they are a control party. Power wins in their minds - they that holds power controls everything. Isn;t it about time for less government intervention. If we had less fed govenment workers meddling in the affiers of thers we would be far better off.
  6. Libertarian Party - I once dated a librarian too. She was quiet all the time, found out recently she married a chap called Dewey Decimal.
  7. Definition of the middle. Step 1 Remove clothing Step2 bend over Step 3 look up Step 4 see middle Step 4 say welcome to the middle - you have successfully found it.
  8. If she was a hotter babe she should go for it.
  9. Is it me or is it a little too quiet on the conservative front these days? Must be the olympics cutting into political airtime.
  10. Emerson had a brain fart on this one didn't he? An experienced politician thinking with his little head again... Well at least he will have a nice cabinet job for the next while until his voters kick his dumb ass out of office.
  11. The NDP does have a role in government however lately their moral voice for the poor and middle class has been somewhat foggy. He should provide that moral guidance for social issues to the governement in power. He just can't seem to be overheard over the noise of the two other clowns running the liberals and conservatives. I wonder where this country would be if the issue like medicare was never raised by the NDP?
  12. NDP demanding a probe on Emmerson case The probe will reveal that he and along with all the other federally elected MPs have no backbone, ethics, morals or loyalty.
  13. Great more people wanting more of my money instead of raising their own kids. For single mothers Ok but for parents make the sacrifice and raise them yourself like we did. The career if you really want kids can wait. Put you priorities straight: country, family, self, career in that order. As for the daycare program there is nothing standardized in this country. PQ gets daycare for $7 a day, others pay $20-50 a day. I think the conservative 1200 a year plan is acceptable without bustin' my wallet for raising your kids.
  14. Hahahahaha petition what? You poor misguided fool, nothing is going to change. You must be no older than 45 trying to change the system of crooks hehehaha. This ain't ever going to happen...I like your position though. Hahahahahahaha
  15. Not only is this a slap in the face but a kiss on the ass. Why do people find this so unbelieveable? Wake up folks they are politicians!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Luckily Quebec receives no favouritism from the feds otherwise people might get upset in the rest of the country.
  17. I think all guns unless in the hands of authority police, military, hunters, farmers, people living in rural arteas where there are problem bears or gun club members are all that require a gun. Me living in a downtown city are have absolutely no use or purpose for having a gun. I still do not live in fear in this country that some kook is going to go on a shooting spree in my neighbourhood (maybe in a public place like downtown Toronto). If people on the street had a gun when that girl in TO got shot on boxing day what would have happened? Did anyone know who was shooting? Would random gunfire by citizens possessing handguns ensue? Would that have resulted in more injuries/deaths? I think handgun ownership by other than gun club members in this country is unessessary. Your thoughts?
  18. The money from the cancelled gun registry will pay for the new prisons and additional jail time for convicts.
  19. SPIKE22: The only time women get the recognition they deserve is at the olympics and some world games. I don't care about gender, its not sexist. I only watch the best players, why waste time watching an inferior product. Just happens to be men in every sport. SPIKE22 True, however womens golfers especially can play with men. I know I have been squashed by many of them. I don't believe that women in sports are top priority. Look, at the men lock out in hockey - women were still playing hockey but they never got coverage in the media. Men and sports and intertwined. Look, we continue to broadcast them so, bring in celebrities, give the athletes advertising contracts, showcase them in interviews, let them write a book and etc. Men promote Men. SPIKE22 People also want to see hitting and fighting in hockey. Womens hockey is excellent. They are hugely talented but no body contact. When they play the midget teams they have success because there is no body contact. The sports that do receive some coverage in relation to women are those where the women are scantily clad and showing off their bodies. Figure skating and skimpy outfits go together, volleyball with bikini played at night - maybe this teases the otherwise horny males and retire them for the night with hallucinative images, the tennis. SPIKE22 Anybody know when the women's beach volleyball season kicks off this year? Women can succeed when they wear sexy appropriate outfits, showing their bodies. SPIKE22 How true - what sexist pigs there are out there tsk tsk... Women entering into hockey are mostly threatening to men because women want to challenge what it means to be stronger, explosive and faster. Men cannot handled women who can are seen as fitter, superior, and physically adept SPIKE22 I can - I've been dominated many times - grrr That is why we don't see much coverage and audience. SPIKE22 So what we need is more sexiness shown by the ladies in all sports...whereas men just need to perspire to garner ratings???
  20. I didn't say the pet projects were scary, I was saying the amount of money they would rape us for is scary. Socialism is obsolete, the United States didn't become the most powerful and innovated nation in the world because they micro-managed the economy. Your right.. China and Japan are now about to take the most powerful and innovative nations titles and run with them. Saw an American documentary not too long ago on a town somewhere just south of Chicago. The people were living in huts with mud floors, no windows, all boarded up, no local jobs, no grocery stores, of course the people were all black. How long before this comes back to haunt them. The US is in a definite downward spiral as a world leader especially regarding human rights and living conditions. They have everything from the worst possible poverty to the richest people in the world. Luckily us Canadians only see places like Disney World and get the hell out of Hicksville. All imperilastic countries reign comes to an end sometime (The Romans, Greeks, Britain, France). I think after 911 their focus and ecomony is so geared towards anti terrorism that social programs have taken a back seat. I think the bubble will bust on their economy when people realize the huge deficits are unmanagable and they have to repay this debt. When their ecomomy goes into the dumpster big time their social programs will have to be revamped and become more of a social state like Sweden or us...
  21. Economic Left/Right: 8.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 9.08
  22. Unless we're talking curling, then it's got to be hurried and harder, I don't know if it has to be longer though. This looks like something spike22 would write Spikette21
  23. Like they say politics a bit*h and you better have thick skin and not give a hoot about what people think or say. People are plain ignorant if they think the liberals have exclusive rights to scandels and backroom politics.
  24. Poor liberals, I am getting misty, please pass the kleenex. NDP gains - yeah baby that's what I'm talkin about. More social programs and less money for everyone!!! Conservatives - wow even after their screwed up start still holding their own. I guess people don't give a hoot about ministers how cross the floor and aren't an MP. [by the way what ever happened to the Rhino party?]
  25. Well Spike your parody is right in some ways, but on the other hand these people believe that we are trying to contol them after we were forbidden to make slaves of them. These ideas do not sit well with them especially when their religions, Christianity included, tell them birth control is wrong. Psst let's not tell them or perhaps issue a revision page to their religious guide informing them it is a mandatory requirement. [i guess mandatory sterilization is out of the question huh?] Contrary to popular opinion, Canada does not have a lot of useful land and we don't have the ability to absorb huge numbers of people. Well I fly all over this country and I can tell you there ain't a lot going on outside of our towns and cities. Nothing but trees mainly until you head north. So the space concern in this country is a non issue - maybe in 2000 years or so but you and I and any relatives we'll know will be dust by then. As for absorbing people we can absorb them if they are skilled in the areas we need them for.
