  1. Will Covid-19 mark a new wave of baby boomers?

  2. Legit or not - will there be more stories like this? Could this be a prelude - or part of the groundwork being laid - to the justification of an eventual declaration of martial law? Martial law was declared before by Pierre Trudeau: Prime Minister Trudeau Proclaims Martial Law, Raids Quebec Separatists https://www.thecrimson.com/article/1970/10/17/prime-minister-trudeau-proclaims-martial-law/ A crisis can be turned into a justifiable reason. That's usually how it all begins. That controversial bill that Trudeau had tried to include in that emergency relief package is worrisome. It would've given him sweeping powers. There could be more to the US plan to put troops along the border than meets the eye. Perhaps, it has nothing to do with coronavirus - maybe, partly. Perhaps, it's about the ideology at play with our socialist-leaning government (bolstered by socialist / socialist-leaning parties)? Perhaps, the USA is just sending a strong message? Just in case? Conspiracy theories are so rampant and ripe at a time of crisis - especially so when one is self-isolated, and has so much time on one's hand to spend thinking. What more......... when one's reading staple these days, are political thrillers! "What if".....is always burning at the back burners.
  3. Lol. I know who could be behind this coronavirus! What rabid group has the most to gain? Who could be doing the happy dance? 4. That's Boges' wishful thinking. He thinks it's a fact.
  5. Trump's approval rating is up to 52% over his handling of the coronavirus. That's the CNN....it's probably higher than that. So, there.
  6. Agriculture is said to be scrambling for workers! Do we need to import workers for that? So many are unemployed right now - what's wrong with them?
  7. The businesses in the USA are in "war-time" mode! It's like WW2! They're rallying around to fight combat this virus. To raise citizens' morale! Sure, we do have CANADIAN businesses here that try to help - but, they're not as many! A lot of them are helpless too, since a lot of them depend on other nations for their own supplies! When this is all over - we have to set things right in our own turf! We've got to have our own resources to be able to stand alone.
  8. We've been screwing ourselves a long time ago! By driving away investors and businesses! Canada had learned a big painful lesson from this virus: there is no such thing as a "global community" when something like this strikes. We can "dialogue" all we want, but in the end it all boils down to this: WALLS GO UP! It's............................ every nation for herself. Woe to the nation that foolishly made herself dependent on other nations for supplies! Dependent on other nations for.................................... ANYTHING!
  9. Oh my goodness! Unbelievable! She's lucky they weren't greeted with a deluge of disinfectant sprays!
  10. Trudea just failed it again! What a joke! Trying to exploit and piggy-back on coronavirus crisis......for a blank cheque!
  11. Did the Opposition check the fine print???  For all we know....Trudeau also slipped it in that bill that he'll be PM for the next 20 years.....or, for life!

Kinda taking a page from Xi and Putin!

    1. scribblet

      scribblet

I wondered that too, who knows what they slipped in there, at least it looks as if they are limited to 6 months.   Talk about an egregious power grab.   Tantamount to overturning the election results.

  12. https://www.dotmed.com/news/story/50552 Seamstresses/dressmakers, etc.., should be commissioned to make quality-controlled mass production of these protective gears for our healthcare staff and first responders!
  13. Imagine that!
  14. I saw this on tv last night. Creativity on the fore! This thread will be about any diy.....just so to give us more ideas. Canadian doctor who works in Gaza makes 3D-printed face shields for COVID-19 https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-thursday-edition-1.5502954/canadian-doctor-who-works-in-gaza-makes-3d-printed-face-shields-for-covid-19-1.5502964 How to simplify that even more.... You don't need to speak or understand her language to know what she's doing.
  15. Did you hear about the returning snow birds? Ford was talking about this today. They go straight to grocery stores instead of self-isolation!
  16. No surprise there in the high rate. What's the population? Pop. 19,440,469. New York is congested - I bet the rates are much higher in big cities. Look at the rate in Ontario pop 14,446,515 - quite high rate in congested Toronto! Pop. 6,196,731
  17. We can't be isolated 100% - unless you're well-prepped for armageddon! Somebody has to go out to get some food. Anyway, asymptomatic people can still pass the virus. Everyone's flying by the seats of their pants - even the CDC! https://www.savannahnow.com/news/20200311/face-mask-shortage-prompts-cdc-to-alter-coronavirus-guidance From my perspective - why should we not use anything that could lessen the risk? If it's a suitable alternative for those in the front line, why not for us? It should provide adequate protection too. I don't use a loose-fitting mask btw - I use the "cup" mask used by painters, or sanders. Worst case scenario - I'll most likely wrap a towel over it and wear a raincoat, winter coat or anything in lieu of hazmat. Since they're so hard to come by - cup masks can't be a single-use item. As of 2 weeks ago, Rona still has lots of them (about 5 bucks for a pack of 5 are the only ones available. Boxes of 50's are gone) .....but I don't know if they still have some now. I spray it and leave it at the garage for the next grocery day (airing out at least 6 days)! I suppose, at the end of the day - especially, when there are no sure answers - depending on our own situation/circumstances........... we all do what we think is best for ourselves.
  18. Not necessarily limited to young kids anymore.....how many I wonder, have self-quarantined themselves when they were advised to?
  19. What coronavirus? College students flood Myrtle Beach to party as COVID-19 spreads https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/coronavirus/article241350261.html How many supposedly mature adults have been behaving like teens?
  20. I only go out to do the groceries (and we go at opening times so there are fewer people). I keep my distance.
  21. It's better than nothing. In my case, it's more to remind me not to touch my face.
  22. There's the keyword there. Look at the students celebrating March break on a beach! Didn't we all feel invincible at a certain age? Mind you....it's their parents or, most likely their grandparents, or anyone with underlying conditions who are vulnerable. Maybe, a lot of young ones can afford to celebrate and disregard the warning (as long as they don't carry them back to their vulnerable kins).
  23. That's what I got - painters' masks.
