  1. Experts say that masks can still be protective against droplets or sprays (sneezes), and the fact that we're wearing them act as a reminder to not touch our face. It can possibly be airborne. If it is, the virus can hung in the air, too. And if it's breezy or windy - it can carry far. But, why take chances? To use that, along with washing hands often, and physical distancing really makes it hard for coronavirus to get attached to us.
  2. If you can get hold of JC cloths - you can use them too (double or tripple them). Or, diy with old clothes, towels - anything is better than nothing.
  3. Preppers have them!
  4. I had to delete - i misread your post.
  5. It's not the panic-buyers who are shutting down the economy. lol, if we got panic-buyers at normal times (without this virus), businesses will be doing the happy dance! The economy is being hit by job losses as a result of businesses closing down or reducing staffs! Because of self-isolation. The market has been skydiving, thanks to the endless Trump-bashing by leftist media. At the time when Trump was trying to downplay and reassure the public (which I suspect in an effort to try to protect the market - Democrats and their media had stepped up and raised the BOOGEY-cornavirus!)
  6. It's easy to say to not "panick." But how do you really define "panic-buying?" How do you differentiate it from being practical? Like....for who knows what reason, deliveries are arriving late. Of course, supplies that do finally get delivered will be snapped fast. It's simple SUPPLY and DEMAND. Look at hand sanitizers, as an example. Why can't they have them on the shelf, if we say this is "normal" times? Surely, stores can put a limit on how many a customer can buy just so to have them available for everyone - and yet, there are none! WHY? Would it be panic or simply being sensible....... to be prepared? Do we leave everything to chance (to try to rationalize that it's business as usual) when we hear of massive lay offs and businesses shutting down? There's such a thing as being an ostrich, too. To want to convince one's self that all is well, is the opposite reaction of panicking. We don't want to think of the fearsome possibility....because it's just too fearsome to even think about. If we don't see it, it can't be true. What is lost to some of the folks is that certain people do the buying now (while they can)......so they don't have to go out IF the situation ever gets too dangerous out there! You don't want to go out when mobs and looters are everywhere just to try to get your hands on a loaf of bread - at probably such a high price too.
  7. Whether it's panicking for nothing, or sheer ignorance or mindless fear - coronavirus is hurting the economy BIG TIME! That's not my feverish imagination - unless I'm hallucinating every time I read the news or watch tv! That's the reality - don't you guys agree? We may not all be that concerned over catching this coronavirus, but at the rate we're spending billions with a flat economy - it doesn't take much to imagine................ THE SKY COULD REALLY BE FALLING!
  8. I can't give it. It's a steadily growing city that still feels like a town. You can't go out without bumping into someone you know. It still has that charm of camaraderie. Even people you don't know are friendly! We're close to Ottawa.
  9. Call it fear, or whatever......but it's reality. I've just come back from grocery shopping - no matter how the government reassures Canadians, those reassurances are not working. A lot of shelves are empty! Fresh meat, and milk are rationed. I told the floor supervisor that "with a lot of shelves empty, it looks scary." He said, "we've been waiting for deliveries since Thursday! Since Thursday!" The manager who's helping at the cash said, "it's looking dire." I wore a mask! I'm the only who wore a mask and gloves in a very busy place! The floor stocker kidded with me - screeching "get away! get away!" I said, "I feel like an alien!" At least it's good to see people still have their sense of humor.
  10. They warned of a possible threat of cyber attack on tv yesterday but I only caught the last part of it. It says that healthcare facilities could be hit. Anybody heard of that? I can't find the particular report (I can't recall if it was on CTV or CBC), but I found this: Coronavirus-themed phishing attacks and hacking campaigns are on the rise https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/coronavirus-themed-phishing-attacks-and-hacking-campaigns-are-on-the-rise/ar-BB11g95u
  11. They don't use "social-distancing" anymore. It's now, "physical-distancing."
  12. To be Omniscient is to be all-knowing. Are you taking from the Bible?
  13. Aren't they looking and creating solutions? I though that's what vaccines are for!
  14. Lol. Is this the first virus? Is coronavirus the deadliest virus? Surely you' ve heard of the 1918 virus? https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/1918-commemoration/1918-pandemic-history.htm You tell me. After all, it's your people who are playing Nostradamus with the environment! How many years do they say we have now before "it's too late?" They know! They keep making predictions about earth! However....you went off-script with your "Gaia moves in mysterious ways" adlib - confusing earth with the Abrahamic God!
  15. Lol. Fighting back? Gaia - which is the Greek mythological personification of earth - does not move "mysteriously". On the contrary, she is quite PREDICTABLE - if, you go by what that girlie Thunberg says! Go ask environmentalists.................................who have been prophesying forever about the end of this earth!! "Mysteriously," indeed. Lol, environmentalists better get your story straight!
  16. Let me just pick up on this with Rue (from the other thread): Am I talking to you? Why don't you just ignore me ......................if my post triggers this great fear in you. Anyway, what's scary about the benefits of dependency on God - it works for me! If you don't believe in God - maybe you can take comfort in your "knowledge" that death would be final! End of suffering. Whatever works for you! ------------------------------------------------ Why did I ask if I was talking to you? Did you read what I was responding to? Prepping is also shown in the narrative of Joseph (who saw the coming famine in the king's dream, and had prepared for it). Genesis 41 46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt. 47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. 48 Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. 49 Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure. 50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. 51 Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh[e] and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” 52 The second son he named Ephraim[f] and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.” 53 The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end, 54 and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food. 55 When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.” 56 When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt. 57 And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere. My response is nothing more but to state that - contrary to what some may think - prepping is biblical! I merely added to the NOAH'S ARK scenario about being prepared! FURTHERMORE - clearing up the misconception that prepping is contrary to Christian doctrine can be helpful in this fight against the virus! Reliance and dependence on God does not mean you're not going to do anything about it, period. If your king mandates you do your civic duty to help the nation - as a Christian, you should humbly follow the law or mandate of your ruler (leaders)! God gave us intelligence/critical thinking. We better make use of it! Lol, you're butting in and throwing your ignorantly irrelevant opinion that of course suggests that...... any mention of God or the Scriptures strikes fear into YOU! Betsy You are on the forum, so I read your preaching. The fact I reject your preachings does not mean I am not religious, an/or do not believe in God, etc., it simply means I find your need to use the virus as a way to preach your beliefs and try convert people to your belief system manipulative and based on fear mongering. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXACTLY! You are in a FORUM! If you're going to butt in a dialogue between posters - at least, understand what they're on about, and WHY! YOU DON'T GET TO CENSOR WHAT WE SAY JUST BECAUSE............. IT SCARES YOU! IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT IS BEING DISCUSSED - MOVE ON! You don't want me invoking religious belief because it strikes fear into you - then, IGNORE ME! Put me on IGNORE! That's what that function is for.
  17. It's a no-brainer! We had to give up our international students after the agency made such an irresponsible decision - letting a teener have his March Break in Toronto. I don't care what the government says - last Wednesday (things were starting to escalate) , we told him, if you go to Toronto, you can't come back to us! We are at that age, and we've got several families that can also get impacted if he brings back the virus. What did this agency do? Kick the can to another hosting family a couple of houses down (who are also seniors!) The lad's father advised him not to go - he is still in Toronto. How can you have confidence in an agency like that?
  18. Trump isn't a politician. Whatever he says, is being politicized.
  19. And yet....they are following Trump's lead! Lol. Take note - the White House said avoid groups of 10 (which is more sensible to recommendations by experts of avoiding groups of 50)! What are they thinking? It's not like as if Canadians will shrivel up and die if they don't make any people contact! Why are they mincing about this, if it's such a serious situation? The more people are in your group, the greater the risk! Whether you're an expert or not, it shouldn't be too hard to see that avoiding any groups at all is the most sensible thing to do! What do you think is the best recommendation? Avoiding groups as large as 10, or 50? Something tells me.....in a couple of days.....they'll be updating that to no larger than groups of 10. Maybe, they just don't want to seem like they're following Trump's lead.
  20. Am I talking to you? Why don't you just ignore me ......................if my post triggers this great fear in you. Anyway, what's scary about the benefits of dependency on God - it works for me! If you don't believe in God - maybe you can take comfort in your "knowledge" that death would be final! 21. Take a deep breath. Look at the topic! It's a comparison between Trump and Trudeau! Anyway, at the end of the day - of course we'll rally - united - behind our leaders! All of them are flying by the seat of their pants - it's something unprecedented. We all do our civic duties. We can only hope for the best.
  22. Lol. Even I, could predict things won't get back to normal for at least 3 months. Look at Wuhan - how long did it take for it to start to slow down - and they did a very drastic measure - forcibly quarantined everyone! Lol, when you're under a regime such as China - if they say you stay indoors - you do just that..........or else! look at Russia. It closed its borders to China in January! So far, if this newspaper can be trusted, they've got under 120 cases of coronavirus!

  24. We have done what can reasonably be done (following the advice of experts)...................... and, we depend on God. Humbly bowing to His will - whatever they may be. There is only one thing that can give us comfort and inner peace amidst all chaos in life: G O D. Que sera, sera......the Sovereign God fulfills His own decrees.
  25. Closing the barn ..........after the horses had ran out! It's now well within all Canada! We'll now have to deal with community transmissions! Lol. And Europe was so upset with Trump for closing the US borders! Well - a week later - look at Europe! They're closing their borders! I get it, there's the balancing of economy to consider because once we go under, it'll be hard to get right back up. That's why Trump was trying to not cause any panic - look what happened to the stock market! Blasted news media made a big deal of Trump trying to downplay the gravity of the virus - and blasted media is politicizing, and peddling fear 24/7! They're trying to undermine people's trust and confidence in the US government. Our media included, echoing CNN! That's why the market is tumbling! It's largely because of the media!
