  1. UH-OH.  And we think it's only NAFTA that's a problem?

    Here comes CETA!

Italy won't ratify EU free-trade deal with Canada, says new farm minister

Italy will not ratify the European Union's free trade agreement with Canada, its new agriculture minister said on Thursday, ratcheting up an international trade spat and potentially scuppering the EU's biggest accord in years.

  2. Because it's true. And the world cares. Even our media! Since Trump came into office......he overshadowed news about Trudeau! He's more covered by our news channel than our own PM! Heck, the White House daily briefing suddenly is so important! I've never seen the WH daily briefing covered as such at any time. People - and other leaders - may not want to acknowledge it, but Trump is re-shaping the world. Look at the Korean peninsula. The Mid-east! Israel! NAFTA! Given time, he'll have a hand in re-shaping even our own system - like, the supply management! Like, do you think Italy would be so stubborn to refuse refugees if they don't have this new populist government? Where do you think the inspiration came from?
  3. How can there be a replacement.....if Iran doesn't want a replacement? Iran is fighting it. And why would Iran want a replacement..........if Iran had such a win-win deal with Obama? If I'm Iran, I won't want any changes too.
  4. EH???? Do you understand what you read? Ford couldn't have lied if he made no such claims. You say he lied. You're making that claim. So, I'm calling you on it. I'm challenging you to cite your source for the info that says he gave money to the widow. Translation: I think you're the one who's lying.
  5. Read the title! You haven't started toking , have you?
  6. What more can I say?   He delivers.

American Job Openings Now Outnumber the Jobless

U.S. job openings rose to 6.7 million at the end of April, compared with the 6.3 million Americans who were unemployed

The positive trajectory that was established under Obama  is clearly starting to slip though. You'll be calling job numbers fake again once the tariffs kick in.

Of course it is, why didn't I think of that one

Because you never looked at the trajectory of job gains on a graph, obviously.

  7. Cite where he said he "gave them the money." Give the link to your source.
  8. Don't go there, because we do worse. Here in Canada, it seems like it's Canadians who are treated as the second-class citizens! We got lots of homeless people - and yet our government are going to spend millions building housing for illegal aliens! Your challenge is irrelevant. I'm not talking about US goods. I'm talking about China goods!
  9. Never mind Trump! I'm asking progressives crusading against sweat shops in China - and who are so critical of Trump - now so willing to buy Chinese products! What happened?
  10. Yooo-hooooo. We've got our own Pinocchio!
  11. Trump was clear in that press conference before he left for Singapore. His aim is to have a trade deal without any barriers....without any tarriffs.....and without any subsidies. That it will be equal. I understood that those are meant for everyone - including the USA. Therefore.....there shouldn't be any subsidies for the USA either. That's up to the consumers to choose what product they want. The government shouldn't be the one to make decisions for us.
  12. Anyway....it's amazing how suddenly, progressives are so willing to buy products from China now. What happened to your crusade against sweat shops?
  13. The Feds should open up Supply Management for negotiations. It's not doing us any good anyway. Yesterday with Paul Martin - he really skewered the Agriculture Minister to clarify whether Trump's numbers on dairy tarriff is correct. The Agriculture Minister just kept deflecting the question - he couldn't answer yes or no. So Martin said in frustration - I take it, it means yes. The Agriculture Minister's defense for supply management is that it gives us "high quality" and safe milk. Martin said, I never heard of anyone getting sick drinking American milk! High quality bs. Let the consumers choose! Milk is milk. As for safety - I'd worry more about products coming from China! So don't give us that bs about "safety." From a non-partisan panel guest who understands about supply management, he says that supply management keeps the prices ARTIFICIALLY HIGH for Canadian consumers! That's why we're paying more for this basic food! A lot of Canadians are already counting pennies to make ends meet!
  14. It might just be a "summer squall".....but what pundits and some former leaders (like Jean Charest) are worried about is that......... ...........Trump always do what he'd promised.
  15. Well.....your view of loyalty is different from mine. Don't suggest that I - or anyone who criticize Trudeau for this debacle - is not loyal to Canada. In fact, I'd say we put Canada's interest above all, thus we say what we say! Getting Trudeau to shut up and to zip it, is loyalty to Canada! It's our economy that will suffer. We will all suffer. Doug Ford has no choice. The Opposition party has no choice. They have to stand by the government against this coming trade war. They have to be united in the face of coming disaster. Did it ever occur to Trudeau that this could happen? That he can continuously take catty pot-shots at Trump - especially, someone like Trump - without having to answer for them later on? He did a jaw-dropping pot-shot before graduating students in NY, while his ministers were negotiating on NAFTA, for crying out loud! Not acknowledging the role of the PM who screwed up big-time with his petty drive-by pot shots, and urging him to do more.....is only making matters worse. That isn't loyalty to Canada. It's loyalty to Trudeau. Let's not confuse the two.
  16. That's why I hold Trudeau largely responsible for our predicament now. He should've known better!
  17. Scaramucci was interviewed on CBC, and he basically said the same thing.
  18. At least.....unlike Trudeau......they're not kissing the ass of an OUT-GOING president! That really takes the cake! What's Trudeau thinking? We all could see that Trump got this thing going with Obama - and there goes our PM, blatantly taking sides!
  19. Like one of the pundits had explained, Trump was never a politician before this. He's not cut from the same mold as politicians you're used to. He's a businessman, and he ran for office as a businessman (he want to run things as he would a business)......so, he's dealing like a businessman. He's got his own style. Yes, he may be loud, and brutally frank....and he doesn't mince words....and he want to have his way.......but, that's him. Hate him or not, we'll have to deal with him. Telling him to pound sand is immature......and it will hurt us. Now, if you don't mind us getting into a recession.....I'd say go for it. If it makes you feel any better to hurl childish insults, well, do what you have to do. Me.....I'm pointing my finger at the one whom I believe had caused this. Trudeau.
  20. Trudeau threw common sense out the window! He'd let his "bromance" with Obama cloud his judgement! Here's a thread related to my point! Don't forget how Trump kept Trudeau waiting at the driveway of the White House for about 10 minutes, when he went to visit Trump for the first time. You think that wasn't calculated? Gee....he wasn't even among the first 5 to be invited at the White House.
  21. That kind of response is so.....childish. The potshot started during the primary race! I've already given a source about it way back. Trudeau's pot shots continued with his open invitation to all persecuted people of this world - at a time when Trump was trying to ban Muslims from certain countries. "Doesn't matter your religion....or whom you love...." His pot shots continued in NY when he gave a speech before graduate students - and he deceptively talked about his view on diversity! This time, he did that while his ministers were trying to negotiate on NAFTA. There were no pot shots from Trump prior or, at any time on or before that! I'm convinced that Trudeau is the cause why Trump is suddenly concentrating on Canada! Mexico is hardly mentioned anymore!
  22. They're counting the times Canada did something for the USA (and I'm not trying to dismiss that)..........but I'm sure, had the situation been reversed, the USA would've done the same thing for us. Let's not forget too, this smug attitude we have towards our American friends. We're not exactly behaving like true friends when we try to make ourselves better at their expense. I've seen Marcia McMillan of CTV somehow ridicule Americans whom they show fighting it out at a department store on Black Friday sale.....saying something that translates to, "OH, we're soooooo above that kind of thing in Canada." Mind you, I've also read a couple of John Sandford novels that also paint Canada in a less flattering picture - smuggling, and terrorist factions. But those are fictional novels, whereas CTV is a news/commentary channel. They're not the same. I'm convinced that Trudeau's loose mouth is what got Canada into this messy situation with our neighbor. He shouldn't have been taking potshots at Trump (started it during the primary when Trump was winning).
  23. Trump has always said he wanted to take the soldiers back home from South Korea. I heard that in his campaign! From what I understand, the talk was about a reduced presence - what's wrong with that? Even if they did eventually pull-out! Why do you need to spend so much on military in South Korea, if the threat is minimal or hardly there anymore from the North? Why would they need that yearly military exercise, too? Imagine eliminating all that cost? That's a win-win for the USA! Compare that with the Liberals plan to use CPP to invest in the 65 year old leaky pipeline! Lol.
  24. After all is said......we'll eventually capitulate. Once reality sets in, and grumblings from suffering Canadians start getting louder, Trudeau will be forced to do a one-on-one negotiations. Supply management will be thrown under the bus. That's my prediction. Oooops. I misunderstood. For Kim Jong Un.....it's looking good. Quite promising. His body language showed deference to Trump (not looking straight at Trump apparently translate to deferrence in Korean culture). He's very young - 36 I think? He's looking ahead to a long future, I suppose. My husband said Kim Jong Un had the kind of smile that looks like a burden has been lifted off his shoulders. I saw that kind of smile (after their first handshake as they moved off camera). On-camera, Kim looked serious - but when they moved on to the side, Kim had a big grin towards Trump.
  25. Trudeau's simply riding on Obama's popularity. EU is mostly made up of Obama fans.
