  1. I'm glad Finland finally joined NATO but the reason we joined was a bit embarrassing since obviously Russia wasn't going to attack other countries after it thought the job was done in Ukraine.
  2. I watched the interview. Very interesting. A very teacher/pupil-vibe about it though.
  3. This kind of makes me think how we in Finland had this party-princess called Sanna Marin as our Prime Minister and she caught even international attention and many people here in Finland were amazed what a super PM we had. Then we had elections and her party lost and boring adults took charge again and nobody now knows outside of Finland who the Finnish PM is. It is very much the same with you in Canada. Justin Trudeau is well known across the world. His predecessors weren't and most likely his successors won't be either.
  4. I'm glad that Finland joined NATO because I never understood why we didn't belong there earlier but when we joined it looked like as if we were running away from the Russian threat when as Ukraine was always the thorn on Putin's side but we were told that Putin was going to restore the pre-1917 borders of Russia and after Ukraine it was going to be Finland's turn to be returned to the cosy arms of mother Russia. There's propaganda on both sides of any conflict but it is a mistake to believe your own propaganda. That is directed at the enemy to make them believe it.
  5. If the Democrats want to stay in power they really must dump Biden. Unfortunately, it is the political custom that if the incumbent President wants to get re-elected he doesn't get challenged from his own party. There has never been a need to break that tradition more than now. Biden belongs to some white house which is a nursing home. Not the White House.
  6. People need to realise that there is a difference in the sense that if you follow the media you could be fooled to believe that all this woke and trans-stuff is something completely mainstream but if you actually go out to the real world you very rarely encounter these people. It is a very marginal group of people bigged up by the media.
  7. Do many Canadians think that it is a small country since they always compare the size of the population to the southern neighbour? Of course Canada is not a small country. It has the second largest land-mass in the world and a country of 40 million people is not a small country populationwise either. Perhaps a middle-sized country but not small.
  8. I don't live in Canada so I'll take your word for what you have said since I don't know better. However, despite all what you have just said there will never be more emigration out of Canada than immigration into Canada.
  9. The cost of living-crisis is really going on everywhere in the western world. Even though we like to critisize governments for such things it is really out of their control in a free-market economy. Unless, of course, if Trump was in charge. Then all of it would be his fault entirely.
  10. Too bad that things seem not so good for you these days but Canada is a country alongside with countries such as the USA, the UK and Australia where things will never get so bad that there would be more emigration than immigration.
  11. There have been clips on YouTube lately about how Canada has all of a sudden turned into a worse country than it used to be and even immigrants are leaving. The reasons given have been the cost of living and hostile climate. The climate has always been the same, hasn't it, and the cost of living tends to be high in places which are popular destinations for people to move into.
  12. You don't understand; demographics are against the Republicans. Black people always vote Democrat 90-10, Hispanics always vote Democrat 70-30. Only white people's vote goes back and forth. However, the share of the white people of the population is going down all the time. Perhaps it's planned or perhaps not but it is happening. In the future white people would have to vote for the Republicans like 70-30 in order to have any chance of winning any election at the federal level. Very unlikely to happen. There will still be some states which the Republicans can win but the whole country will soon be a factual one-party state, which is always a bad thing.
  13. Nikky Haley, first of all, she is Indian and her real name is Nimrata. Secondly, she should run for the President of Israel. She clearly loves that country more than the country the presidency of which she is running for.
  14. Trump returning as President is out of the question. It just won't be allowed to happen. If he can't be banned through courts then he will fall down the stairs or some other similar mishap but he will see the White House only from distance.
  15. I wonder is there any other example in the world of a former host country and a colony whereby the roles have been so reversed as to who gives the orders and who obeys as is the case with the USA and the UK.
  16. The Republicans can no longer win the popular vote. They can still win the electoral college though but as soon as Texas flips blue it is game over forever for the Republicans.
  17. Where has Trump got this new popularity from? After all half of the voters fiercely hate him when as a lot of those who supported him in 2016 were disappointed with him as President. He talked the talk but didn't walk the walk. With him the old adage seems apt; fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
  18. Too bad for the Republicans that they have over the decades become labelled as the party of the WASPs. (nothing to do with the insects nor the band). It didn't harm them when WASPs were over 80% of the population but nowadays it is easier said than done to try to appeal to segments of population which were previously considered almost as being enemies.
  19. Isn't senile just a rude word to call an old fool who forgets very basic things or doesn't know where he is etc when as dementia is a medical diagnosis? Biden has not been diagnosed as being demented but everybody can see he is senile.
  20. Does it actually make any difference in Canada whether Trump gets back in or not? In Europe it may make a huge difference as Trump is known for his views that European NATO-countries should increase their defence-budgets instead of just relying on the US-help. Even though on other issues I don't agree with Trump but on this one I do. In Finland we have a very competent army for a country of our size. If Russia decided to try its luck on attacking a western European country Finland wouldn't be their choice. Many other European countries who don't have nasty neighbours have driven down their armies completely.
  21. It's funny how Biden said yesterday that if Trump wasn't running Biden himself probably wouldn't seek re-election but since Trump is there Biden must also run. As if it is Biden who can stop Trump when as in reality the main reason for Trump's newfound popularity is Biden himself. Almost any other democrat would be better equipped to beat Trump than Biden is.
  22. The RINOs will throw him out after he has been sentenced in the court based on whatever charges they came up with. The RINOs in Congress absolutely hate him and rather lose the election than have him as President. There will be someone like Nikky Haley as their candidate.
  23. Trump is old news. No more the fire and passion he had in 2016. ' Besides, he won't be allowed even as a candidate not to mention as President.
  24. The majority of Democrat-voters are on the side of Palestine, which is a real problem for American Jews who are traditionally more pro-Democrats. About 3/4 of Republicans are pro-Israel. Usually not licking Israel's arse has been a major obstacle for any American politician's career ambitions but that may change.
  25. There are such differences in the German dialects that northeners and southeners might struggle to understand each other. The south used to be catholic and the north used to be protestant. Nowadays nobody cares about religion.
