Unfortunately many people think this way. Many people will just stay home because they think their vote won't count. Well I live in a very conservative riding and I will vote NDP. Many will vote for the Christian Heritage party, some will vote for the Liberals, some will vote for the NDP, and even some will vote Green... Every vote that doesn't go to the cons is a good vote, IMO. I will vote NDP this year. Until Dion is out and I can go back to voting Liberal.

The US does not care. They don't care that it does not matter who is elected. It's all Hollywood style smoke and mirrors. No matter who they elect nothing will change. What I am personally hoping for is for McCain to get elected by a teeny 1% or so. That's when we will see if the Americans have the balls to stand up and riot. Of course they won't. They are too fat, too floridated, too hooked on IPODs, Walmart and MacDonalds. What will happen is Obama will be elected and by March 2009 all the Americans will be whining "How come our country is not fixed yet! Obama sucks cause he didn't fix everything in three months! I am voting repub next time!" Because Americans, for the most part, are simply too stupid to understand that it will take a helluva lot more than four years to clean up the pile of shit left by the Bush Administration. So you can be guaranteed that the Republicans (read evangelical Christians) will be ripe for 2012 and will usher in the return of Jeeezuz! with nuclear war. Editted to add... it is for this reason that I travelled to BC's interior over the past week... to find an isolated piece of land with a creek. So that when the nukes begin to fly we have a safe place. I also talked to my father about his stash of rifles and ammo -- everyone should begin preparing now -- stock up on rice, seeds, matches, ammo etc. The US is going to usher in the end of this era and I plan on surviving it!

She did not take all his assets or anything. Once again, the mark of a person REALLY wanting OUT of a relationship is when they simply RUN and ask for NOTHING from the abuser.I feel no pity for men who "buy" women from overseas and get left high and dry. Grow up and marry a Canadian woman (if one will have yah LOL)

So it's a good thing that we counsel women to make the decision early in pregnancy right? Instead of hounding them with gory pictures right? Better she make the decision right away than wait six months right? A 2 or 3 month old fetus doesn't have much chance of surviving outside the womb as it is not "complete" so an abortion early in pregancy guarantees that the fetus is actually dead. Abortions for convenience sake should be done within the first three months. After that there should be restrictions IMO. Of course I haven't had the chance to read the article, so there may have been circumstances beyond "minor internal bleeding" that led the woman and her doctors to choose to abort the fetus. And Dancer, there will be no dilation and extraction for you -- this club is for womb-holders only. *sings* sooo sorrrry.

Holy temper, Batman! LOL And no "It" is not happening in Canada. We do not have 7/11's issuing mortgages LOL. In Canada one needs government approval to get a mortgage.. in the US one can be on welfare and still "buy" a house. *I shake my head at the stupidity of this!* The poor losers are the people who got sucked in. As far as I'm concerned they should get their houses for FREE because they were duped by money grubbin' mortgage providers. Caveat Emptor should NOT apply in these cases. Especially when the damn president (or his minions) told the people they were not "patriotic citizens" unless they own; that renters shouldn't really have a vote... The president of the USA owes every single one of those foreclosed homes in the USA a free house. Personally he can afford it so he should buck up for his people.

Oh, I count "illegals" as immigrants because they are there to stay. So the "real official government numbers" are not correct. "Officially" the US has less immigrants per capita... but unofficially waaaaaaaay more. LOL

Religion. Religious folks have more children and the US has a higher percentage of religious folks than we do. They also let in waaay more immigrants than we do.. so expectedly, their population growth is higher.

An educated immigrant is far more likely to be a benefit to our society than an unwanted child with no decent parents, no education and no job prospects. ...unless of course YOU (anti-immigrant/anti-choice people) are willing to foot the bill to feed, clothe, house and educate ALL the children that would otherwise be aborted. Put your money where your mouth is! Buck up some dough for those unwanted children. Open up your home to a drug addicted single mother.

Seriously .... frig. so only those of childbearing age are not "disabled"... LOL My god! we have three women at work "of childbearing age" and lemme tellya I would sooo rather work with a fag than girls who want babies.

Yes they do share in this tragedy. Just like the Imams who encourage people to kill the infidel have a share in the responsibility when a Muslim suicide bomber kills. But you will never get the rightwing to acknowledge their role -- they will fully believe that this person was an "anomoly", that what the hate-jocks preach is "innocuous" and doesn't affect anyone. The whole world (not just Canada) is looking at America and what her citizens are going to do come November. Those who think like BC 2004 are PROUD that hundreds of thousands of Americans have lost their homes (our economy is just FINE!) they are PROUD when a child dies because his parents don't have medical (they shouldn't have kids!) . They are PROUD when they see images of mutilated Iraqi children (collateral damage!). They are PROUD of every atrocity that has been committed in their name... Because I am pleased that he recieved the honour and am pleased that people (men!) like him have fought for my rights... does not necessarily make him my "hero". But it's just more fun to put words in people's mouths isn't it? and it is the rare abortion that occurs that late. But there are circumstances where it is necessary and Morgentaler fought for that right. If a woman was in late stage pregnancy and found out the fetus had spina bifida she would want to abort... or do you think a woman should be forced to carry a mutilated fetus and give birth to it... which of these would be more tramatizing for the woman you think? For the same reason I denigrate those who live out in the upper Fraser Valley -- they think they are the only people on the planet with "family values" and "morals"... everyone else is an immoral heathen. I don't think Albertans are any different from the rest of the world... but my stepfather was a real cowboy and he wore runners and a baseball cap... only drugstore cowboys wear the "hat" and "swagger"... and Alta is full of transplanted drugstore cowboys that think it's their place to tell everyone what to do simply because Alta is on an extended upswing. This too will end and people will migrate to other provinces and adopt that way of life... Everywhere has hard working people that hold strong family values. Alberta has not corned the market on morals. "we have money!" "we made money on our own!" as if money is the only measure of success... it isn't. A happy, joy-filled life is success IMO. And yes, Alta is the most conservative province. Most Albertans are proud of this fact. I would say that BC'ers have more in common with Californians than say, Ontarians or Albertans. The pale frenchman (thanks Oleg!) hasn't got a hope in hell of ever running this country IMO. If the liberals ever expect to win another election they need to drop the whiner. My next vote goes to Jack Layton... just so the Cons don't ever see a majority. I'd rather have a minority gov't anyway. I think that it's best for our extremely diverse country. We will never agree on all things as we are all so very different from one another.
