  1. So when the fascists take over, you will just go willingly? They love people like you. then provide a link and stress (use bold, italic or underline) the important parts. And no, I am not going to wade through pages of "legaleeze" so you can prove yourself correct. I, and many Americans believe that the 2nd Ammendment gives Americans the right to bear arms in the face of a fascist goverment take-over. The founders were well aware that an unarmed populace could easily be overtaken by corrupt government. In Canada we don't have the right to bear arms. I wish we did, we are going to need our guns too! (I can't believe I am saying this but in today's volatile politcal climate... I wanna gun!)
  2. Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution So you are saying that this is wrong? No wonder your country is so screwed up -- you have too many versions of your constitution... At any rate -- keep your guns America! You are going to need them very soon. Mark.My.Words.
  3. No, I don't. Please provide a link that proves that there is widespread "literature" on how to scam a man. and again... Caveat Emptor. My man was with woman years before he met me... she took all his money -- it took him years to feel financially safe with me and that I wasn't squirrelling away money and assets for my getaway. I suck with money -- can't save a darn nickle! Thank goodness all I have to do is go out and earn it -- hubby manages the money in my family. LOL
  4. The guy said "women are evil" Therefore he is either: 1. Homosexual 2. Loves vaginas, hates the skin around them. In that case, they've got these new blow up dolls that look incredibly real... LOL Was just kiddin' anyway...
  5. You must be a youngin'... Bugs Bunny (old cartoon) used to say "what a maroon!" Means "what a moron".. Cheers!
  6. Yes, they are. This is from YOUR constitution is it not? Codification of the right to keep and bear arms into the Bill of Rights was influenced by a fear that the federal government would disarm the people in order to impose rule through a standing army or select militia
  7. I am not a lawyer so I do not know all the loopholes in the law. How would you go about fixing this? Would the partners in marriage be forced to stay with one another for a specified period of time? Or perhaps we should not allow husbands/wives/children of immigrants to come here at all. Would that be fair in your opinion? So my friend in Iran.. her uncle is coming to Canada.. should he be forced leave his wife and child behind because there is a chance they may divorce in the future? Why should tons of families suffer because one person wanted out of a relationship? READ THE FINE PRINT! When you lease a vehicle you read the fine print. When you purchase a house you read the fine print. Ignorance is not an excuse. How long is this "conditional establishment" in the countries that you mentioned? Does this still apply if the relationship is volatile -- if one of the spouses fears for their life or wellbeing? In Canada, we have a thing called Human Rights. It is available to all humans, citizens or not. In Canada a person has the right to leave a marriage regardless of circumstances, regardless of whether they were born here or just arrived.
  8. That, and the fact that he touted "we WILL have fixed election dates when I am PM!" and is now backtracking wanting an election a year early... What a maroon! Why does Harper want an election now? 1. He believes the Liberals are weak (they are as Dion is not one to "bring the party together") 2. the US election. He knows that if Obama is elected, when our election rolls around (fixed date Oct 2009) Canadians will follow America and vote left. He just wants to ensure that he is leader BEFORE the American election. Then what? We have a conservative GW groupie up here in Canada, while the US elects a lefty -- how will they ever see eye to eye? I know our "right" is not as "right" as their "right" LOL BUT Harper wants to continue in Iraq -- Obama wants to get out Harper wants to give away Canada -- Obama will more than likely end NAFTA (he MUST in order for America to recover economically) Harper does not believe in social responsiblity -- Obama will be working towards a better social safety net for Americans It will be like a tug of war with Harper pulling toward the right and Obama pulling toward the left. ... unless of course if "they" kill off Obama or McCain "wins the election like GW did in 2004" (wink wink)-- in either of those cases America will (should!) implode into civil war... unless of course America is just too damn fat and lazy to rise up... LOL
  9. IMO, I was always told that the second ammendment was there so that the citizens could protect themselves from the government when the time came -- that time is now. Fighting tyranny is not being a terrorist. GW Bush has already all but destroyed your constitution and you are "protective" of your government AW? You will need to protect yourself -- too bad America's left hasn't woken up to the fact that the 2nd amendment (why all the "amending" anyway? But that is a different topic) is meant to protect you from your own government. From Wikepedia:
  10. Good Gawd -- keep your guns, you are going to need them. Katrina was a good test on how easy it is to take guns from Americans during a crisis. Hide your guns if you have to, but make sure you have them... the religious are trying their damndest to usher in Armaggedon and they don't want you to accidentally shoot Jeezzuz! when he comes to nuke all the gays and abortionists! Seriously... five years ago I was against all handgun ownership -- now I am making sure my family is armed and ready (albeit with just plain old rifles). IMO, I was always told that the second ammendment was there so that the citizens could protect themselves from the government when the time came -- that time is now.
  11. If something happens to the president, the VP takes over. So it does matter. Even though you righties are trying with all yer might to justify why McCain would pick such an inexperienced running mate.
  12. So have you and your boyfriend set a date for a legit marriage yet? Or do you hate women but love their vaginas? (That'd suck eh?!)
  13. Marriage is a commitment between two people. Should one decide to end the relationship they are free to do so by law. In your opinion, should the law change to force people to stay in marriages? Just like any marriage in Canada it is a "dissolvable" contract. And our immigration laws state, very clearly, that if you marry a non-citizen you will be responsible for them for a given amount of time. Perhaps you should have read the "fine print". So you had the same expectation that everyone who gets married has -- that the marriage will last. Years and years ago my brother dated a girl for six years, they got married and 10 days later she left him. We guess that being married just freaked her out at such young age -- they started dating when she was 15. This occurance does not mean that all marriages are shams does it? So your "occurance" is just a person leaving another person. You seem to be reading quite alot into it. A woman left a man and you want this to become a crime? May I suggest a move to a less free country? Iran perhaps LOL/ just kidding. LOL, I don't believe there are any "terrorists", just like I don't believe there is an invisible enitity juding you and me. Good try though -- trotting out the tired old "fear of terrorsts". And of course women are evil - we bleed for seven days and don't die! And if you really think that the blood bleeds from like an artery... seriously you should look into becoming homosexual. Find a man who will never leave you.
  14. I am a father's rights advocate and therefore am fully aware that the family court system is biased on the side of the mother with regard to custody, visitation and monetary support. The issue in question has nothing to do with custody of children and is not the domain of family services. The woman decided to leave the man. She must have had her reasons -- which we do not know as we have only seen one side of the issue. If leaving a relationship in which one is unhappy (even a brand new relationship) means woman are "socially aggressive" then I say "good". Would it behoove us as a society to force people to stay in unhappy relationships? I celebrate people being in relationships in which they can grow and prosper - and I would hope that people would seek relationships in which they can do so and leave those in which they cannot. And please, if you could find a link for this "literature" and "programming" I would be interested in reading it.
  15. Our "city place" mortgage is almost paid for and then we are looking at keeping this place for the income (rent it out) but moving up north. Three more years of payments and we are finished yaaahhh! I would certainly rather deal with winter than wall to wall people. LOL My dad and I went through his collection of rifles and old stuff to see if we wanted to take any of it. He's got an old Chevy pickup we are going to salvage (doesn't need computer chips or specialty mechanic/technician, just a good old mechanic) I put away the 22 (nice and small for me to handle) and his old 30-30 for hubby. We are taking the canoe! 14ft aluminum bright yellow thing that I named "sunshine" when I was a kid. I can hardly wait to leave this rat race... of course I will still have to have ADSL so I can come to MLW and keep in touch with family/friends. Cheers!
  16. I do not believe you. I do not believe you live in an area where you can be surrounded by pure wilderness (no cell phone service OMG!). I bet if you keep walking you will run into another city within a day. In Canada you start walking and you could end up NEVER seeing civilization again -- just keep walking north... no cities, no roads, nada, zip, just beautiful wilderness. Us 30 million Canadians like the lack of population. We don't want to be wall to wall pavement. I grew up with no indoor plumbing, eating moose meat and melting snow for water. I know I can survive the wilderness. Could you? Back to the thread topic -- respect. I have no respect for those who have no respect for themselves -- who have no self-reliance, no fortitude. And that is why I have no respect for the majority of Americans. They rely on god, government , McDonald's and Walmart and have largely forgotten what "fortitude" means. (It does not mean "respect me! I have a gun!" LOL) Cheers!
  17. But, and here's the rub... wait for it..... I can leave Vancouver and go to the wilderness. I can be in the utter wilderness in less than an hour. Can you do that from where you live? LOL I was up visiting my dad in the interior and looking around for a piece of land to buy. Land in the middle of nowhere with nice little creek and lots of trees. Hubby and I plan on purchasing at least a few acres so that we can escape the inevitable war that America is so desperately trying to bring to her shores. And if America wakes up and there is no war, then we have a nice summer vacation spot, all isolated and wild. Even to a citygirl like you, that must sound awesome!
  18. California has roughly the same population of all of Canada. Imagine it! 30 million people jammed into an area smaller than all of BC! Creeps me out. AW, it is called sunshine and we like it too Why is 10% of your population jammed into California? Because of Hollywood? 30 million actor wannabes? Or because Mexico is right next door and you all wanna be Mexican? LOL Why it's the weather of course! I grew up in the northern Interior of BC and we used to get 6 feet of snow (2 metres actually, but we used standard measure back then LOL). Now they are lucky to get 2 feet all season. Global climate change. Poor kids in the north can't even build snow forts anymore! As the shit hits the fan in America... I see many Canadians moving to more northern climes to escape the inevitable rioting and illegal Americans coming here when Obama loses. /barely kidding.
  19. US population 2007 (est.) -- 303,111,027 Canadian population (est) 2007 -- 33,122,819 US landmass including Alaska and Hawaii -- 3,717,813 sq mi (9,629,091 sq km) Canada landmass (including Quebec LOL) - 3.8 million sq mi (9.9 million sq km) USA – 81 people per square mile (can you say s-a-r-d-i-n-e-s?) Canada – 1 person (.86 persons actually) per square mile (ahhhh, fresh breathable air!) Which country do you think has more pavement? Which has more wilderness?
  20. Good post Oleg! If there were a god, I doubt it would "bless" tyranny and lies. Cheers!
  21. LOL West Coast. Mountains. Ocean. Hectares upon hectares of real wilderness. Like Oregon and Washington but with less people. Lots of rain means lots of green -- must have machete to go through woods, not skidoo LOL -- does America even HAVE any "woods" left? You think that we are "frozen" most of the year -- my image of America is a land completely paved over with maybe an acre of "wild" radiata pine forest between crowded stinking cities. Ewww! It would be impossible to get lost in the wilderness in the USA. One just need to walk to an hour from absolutely anywhere (cept Alaska, it's Canadian anyway LOL) to find pavement and buildings. Here in Canada you could walk for a year and not see pavement. And we like it that way. More privacy, more clean air, more nature. Americans loathe nature, eh? They pave everything! How do you live like that? Crowded like sardines? Breathing in each others breaths! Ewwww! AHA! Now I know why the level of stupidity! Your are breathing in your neighbours carbon dioxide making your brain kinda loopy! Maybe you all should get free oxygen bottles... 'cause you have no trees to provide it for you -- Oprah will buy them for you all if you atttend her show. /just teasin'!
  22. And if you are representative of all things American... no wonder your country is so messed up I do not do sports. It is a waste of money. I loathe wasting money on frivilous pursuits -- perhaps if more Americans loathed wasteful pursuits, your country wouldn't be in such a debt-induced mess!
  23. I don't "do" sports. What a waste of money. Paying people millions upon millions for a game is utterly ridiculous. Celebrity and sports celebrity are the most useless vocations on earth. Yet people like you will contribute to their millions for a few hours of sitting on your butt watching someone play a game. Get it? A GAME. As in childish fun. Children who have never grown up. Because I don't attend sporting events, I don't think I have ever had to stand for any anthem other than my own. I only stand for/sing the anthem for Remembrance Day and Canada Day.
  24. So what was her reason for not standing? I always stand for our Anthem. I would never stand for another country's though.
  25. People leave one another for lots of different reasons. Even in countries other than Canada. Are you amazed by this? In 2008? Yes, I am in the position to tell him to grow up. Men and women are not commodities... they are partners, would you agree? And if this fellow is this upset about her leaving, I suspect he is an abuser. Good for her for getting out of a potentially bad situation. And I do not watch silly little sitcoms. You'll likely see the History Channel or Discovery on my TV, but rarely a sitcom (my hubby likes Two and A Half Men though) My only advice is that the buyer beware -- which means the onus is on the buyer to make sure the product he gets is "good". Too bad for this loser, his "purchase" up and left!
