Why Doesn't the US Respect Canada More?
Drea replied to jbg's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Well you certainly do come across as condescending... perhaps you did not mean to. And I don't have the belief that people are "inferior" to others, just lacking education. A person in North Korea may be just as "worthy" as a person from South Korea, but is just lacking education. Americans always trot out "you have an inferiority complex" when confronted with people who do not believe that the USA is the greatest country on earth. I do not want to be Warren Buffet (with all his billions) nor do I want to be an American (with all their posturing). I am happy being a boring, safe, healthy, educated Canadian. If that isn't "enough" for you, that is not my problem -- I, unlike you, do not expect all people to want to be me. Reading literacy (most recent) by country Canada ranks #2 behind Finland. USA ranks #15 More stats from CIA Factbook -- Canada -- USA Life Expectancy USA -- 78.14 years Canada -- 81.16 years School life expectancy (primary to tertiary education): USA --total: 16 years male: 15 years female: 16 years (2006) Canada -- total: 17 years male: 17 years female: 17 years (2004) Cheers! -

Good. It's about time. I am sure there are many forums that would be utterly thrilled to be graced by your omnipotent presence! Only because they are largely undereducated. How can one live there entire life knowing nothing about the country in which you share the world's longest undefended border? Do your educators purposely leave out the entire upper half of the north american continent or are they simply incompetent? And if you wanted knowledge about our country, you would read and learn instead of spouting that Canada has nothing but logging, hockey and snow and nothing to offer the world. -
Why Doesn't the US Respect Canada More?

We care about exactly the same things all other humans on earth care about -- having a happy, successful life and leaving some for our kids. Who gives a crap if we are a "world player"? We hum along just fine being middle of the road, boring, happy, safe (educated, employed, healthy) people. Psst... that would be fence "sitter" not "poster" LOLBut everybody loves to have a level headed mediator who has the ability to see more than one (or even two) sides of an issue. The MERE FACT that AMERICANS take an INTEREST... WOW! bow down all you Canadians and kiss the feet of the few Americans who grace us with their shining godlike presence here on MLW. Halleluyahhhhh praise the American! Fug... you really do think you are better than others don't you? U-n-b-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e. -
She says "I will screw you and cook food for you" He says "I will provide roof over your head". I know, I was married to one a long time ago... He said "Everything is yours as long as you stay with me." LOL I left nothing but $2 and a half tank of gas. It was all HIS because he had worked for it, all I did was work part-time, I did not contribute to paying down the mortgage (or the furniture, etc) so they were all his. What about fathers? Are they "allowed" to think of themselves first? The first thing I am is human, then I am a female, then I am a mother, in that order. My son has grown up knowing that other people (women) are not on this earth to wait on him, to live for him. He thinks of women, not as slaves to be bought, but as human beings with needs and wants of their very own. Some women just want to be mothers. Some women don't want children at all. Some women want careers and children. Is it women's responsibility to look after men's emotional health? Can they not look after their own emotions? Sharing equally in a relationship means both partners look after the emotional and financial wellbeing of the family. Daddy can cuddle away a hurt knee just as well as mommy can. So that biological urge to screw is because young people want babies to look after? LOL The impluse drives people to have an orgasm, not a baby. The baby is simply an unintended consequence. So how does it harm anyone if people choose not to marry... I always imagined that back in the day when people saved their vifginity for marriage, that night in the marriage bed must be very disappointing for some... then they are stuck forever. How awful to get married because you are lusting after one another then realize you are incompatable. We try on shoes before we buy them.. we test drive cars... we peek in every room in a house, check the foundation and the roof... yet we are supposed to jump into a sixty year committment with a person without making sure sex (the marriage glue) is, at the very least, satisfactory? Yyes, those sufferagettes who got women the vote were dead set on destroying the traditional family... riiight. It's not that feminists want to "destroy the family", they just don't want to be pigeonholed into "you are a woman, therefore you want babies". ... and rigid... the traditional family roles are rigid. People, are not rigid "things", they are flexible and are much more than their biology dictates.

You are too funny... I AM trying to sponsor a woman out of Iran. Won't be marrying her though -- just gettin' her out of a shithole country with no rights for women so she can have a better life. We are renovating and adding a space to our home for her. We have been working towards her getting here for the autumn of 2010. And yes, I would be willing to put MY taxes towards helping women in third-world countries come to Canada for education and eventual employment.
-
OoOooOOO... you sure are mad about this... as far as I am concerned any woman from any country that does not have equal rights for women should get to stay, no questions asked, no job required. We can afford to educate her so she can work. What do you think happens to non-virgins who return to their country of origin? What do you think happens to them? Are they crowned and treated like royalty? Or are they penniless for life? (no husband in those countries, means no income). I'm pretty sure I understand though Monty -- you simply hate women making choices for themselves. You don't mind a woman making a choice "as a couple" but in your mind women should not be free to make decisons for themselves. If I were a woman living in some shithole country with no rights, you bet your lily white hiney that I would lay with whatever man, I'd do whatever it takes (lie, cheat, manipulate, screw, whatever) to get out. And as soon as my feet touched the soil I would dump the bugger.
-
Of course it isn't Monty! But you must realize that a man who marries a woman who plans to stay at home will have to support her for life whether or not you divorce. I will encourage my son to marry (in 15 years LOL) a career woman who can hold his family together should he need to change jobs or gets laid off or whatever. Is it not better to have the security of two incomes? To have two people who have the ability to cook and mow? In case one is unavailable, the other can do the job. It's not changing men into women or women into men, it's sharing the workload equally. No, work outside the home is NOT the same as work AT home. In today's easy world, it doesn't take much to keep a household running (disposable diapers, dishwashers, washers and dryers all make life very easy).
-
What part of "sharing equally" turns men into homosexuals? Do you think that in a modern household, daddy just sews and cooks while mommy mows the lawn and takes out the garbage? I still am mostly responsible for the house interior, but we share in cooking duties (whoever feels like it does it). I still largely do the grocery shopping but ask what everyone wants. He still largely takes care of the yard 'cept he leaves my Persian Silk Tree to me LOL. Our equal paycheques (we earn about the same) go into one account and we consult each other on purchases over $100. Tell me, Monty, what exactly is wrong with this?
-
My son hate those commercials. I use a Mac at work sometimes and I do find it better for photo manipulation. But I still prefer the PC for games and everyday use.
-
Then quitcher bitchin and suck it up! Be a man already! You must be thrilled with the way today's custody laws "prefer" the mother. You, being a manly man, are incompetent in raising children, you should not get custody of them, ever. You also, being a manly man, are probably volatile, so you get supervised visits with your children.
-
Then why are you so upset? You WANT a woman to want you for your money so what is the problem? WTF kind of backass reasoning leads you to believe that a career woman "lies", "cheats" or "gold digs"? She works and earns her own way. That really gets your goat doesn't it? LOL Monty says: "I hate gold diggers, but no wife of mine is ever gonna work for a living I tell you!" "I can support you honey you don't need to go to college, just get pregnant right away - don't worry, you'll get a weekly grocery allowance and I pay more than your father paid you!" Edited to respond to your edit... then be a MAN! Suck it up financially -- if you have to pay alimony tough luck. Give her the entire house, suck it up you're a manly man! Your pension gone? Suck it up you're a manly man! It's not about being "manly" or being "neutered"... it's about sharing equally in the relationship. What part of "share equally" do you not understand?
-
are you still on that Meth? How's the face? I hear that Proactive helps -- Britany Spears endorses it, will help clear up your meth-face pimples. Give it a try... that way you can get out of the house once in a while. Sure will go along way to make you feel better about yourself Shady. Cheers!

You are so right Chuck. The best way to protect yourself from being financially devastated in divorce is to marry a woman who makes the same amount of coin as you do. That is the best protection yet. Marrying a stay-at-home wife may seem like a dream (she takes care of all household stuff and the children and you just work your eight hours) but it can very quickly turn into a nightmare. And I don't blame the stay-at-home spouse... after the divorce she NEEDS the assets as she cannot earn her own. THAT, boys, is the risk you take if you marry a traditional woman (even if the divorce is your idea, you are on the hook. If it is her idea, you are on the hook). A judge will look at the current financial capabilites of both parties and divide assets according to need.
-
Do you disagree Monty? Do you really think working women are "gold diggers"? Then why the sweet hell do they WORK? Why do they have careers? So they can "gold dig" LATER in life perhaps? After they retire, they gonna go get a young stud and he'll pay for all her manicures and trips to the spa? I pay for my own trips to the spa. LOL You are too funny! Laughing that feminism somehow has created gold diggers. On the contrary -- if I was not able to work for a living I would have to been a lying, cheating, golddigger just to survive! It's men like you who WANT gold diggers. (thankfully men like you are rare -- almost extinct.) You are not interested in the female as a human, just a hole to poke and a pair of hands to bring you food. The ones that work you call "gold diggers" -- how ridiculous is that!? Like telling your son he's a loser after he gets into University because you wanted him to shovel shit for a living. Sorry to rant, but the stupidity simply astounds me.
-
You really do believe that woman are not autonomous human beings! I have never met anyone so blatant in saying women are "property" -- holy Shit with capital S! My value as a woman is whatever the hell I deem it to be. That is MY choice. I choose MY life in this country. Some asshat like you has no say. Someday you will run into a strong feminist woman and may have to operate in a professional manner towards her (she may be your banker, your lawyer, your judge or your doctor) -- how the hell will you cope with that? Wherever you come from -- go home! Men like you do not belong here -- go back to your country where you can purchase women like going to the store to pick up a vaccuum cleaner. Look on the rack, see one you like and take it home and it will suck and suck for you
-
Do you have a link to any literature of this regard? Be real. Feminists believe that men and women should share life's burdens equally. Those of you who think that feminists encourage women to "gold dig" are sadly misguided! It's the traditional female role that is manipulative. A traditional woman must manipulate a man into taking care of her -- she is a dependent. A feminist is not a dependent, she is a life partner who willingly shares in her family's financial and emotional health. Most men understand that the financial and emotional health of the family is a job for two people to share, not a job for one or the other. A feminist does not need to be married, she chooses to be married. Now come along and tell me how a woman who contributes financially and emotionally to her family is a "gold digger", a "cheater", or a "liar".

Rights come from Santa? Or god? Ok, I'll bite -- seriously, where do rights come from? Do they grow on trees? Joshua trees? Do you go out during harvest season and pick the ripe rights? Fug. This is too funny... but I gotta get back to work, we are renovating. Oh, btw, I took two weeks off work and quit smoking -- arrrgh! We quit pot and cigs OMG! I do not yet know if I will survive this! LOL So I am allowed to be cranky -- so there!! Cheers to you BC2004!

Honey, entertainment is frivilous. Like the Twinkies and Big Macs you live on it provides no substance but sure tastes good. Yummy! -
Are you so dense as to think that individual citizens can take away your rights? Holy shit, I'd love to meet this all-powerful citizen! Government has the power to take away (or implement) rights -- individual citizens do not. Clue Bat says "Proof that yes, the American populace has indeed been Dumbed Down "

Holy Crap -- BC2004 and AW have found a common enemy -- ME! See how easy it is to get Americans with opposing view points to agree? Just give them a common enemy! Booga Booga! I'm gonna getcha! I am New-and-Improved-Common-Enemy-to-Pull-the-American-Populace-Together The most easily manipulated people on earth -- Americans. -
Aren't you glad!? I am. Perhaps this, bc2004, is the ONLY topic you and I will ever agree on. Americans need guns to protect themselves from their government. And Canadians will need them too. I admit that I have changed my position on gun control... because one just never knows what a government is capable of... I wanna gun! LOL Then leave this Canadian forum and find an equal one in the US if you don't like seeing Canadians' opinions on American issues.Either that or just shut up! That'd be good too!

so no link then? My.Point.Proven. Thanks for the "valuable input". pfft Clue Bat says "fascist governments take away human rights". Clue Bat asks "how many provisions have occurred over the past eight years which guarantee your rights?" "How many intrusions such as the "Patriot Act" does it take before you realize you have a corrupt government? Do they have to round you up in camps before you believe it could happen?" The right to bear arms is the only teeth the American people have -- don't let them take it from you -- fight for your right to fight your government (maybe not today or next week, but its a comin' and you will need to arm yoursleves)
