  1. Agree
  2. But it is the governments business to interfere with the religious rights Canadians have? How come this has become a controversy among religious groups in Canada and they are moving to get the governments attention with this issue still?
  3. But it is the governments business to interfere with the religious rights Canadians have?
  4. Harper or Martin minority victory at first but after the events definatly a Harper victory.
  5. You walk around with the same bias everyone has about political parties. Not all parties were corrupt if you read history of PM's in Canada. THis is why young people are turned off from voting becasue people liek you tell their children that all parties are corrupt and greedy.
  6. No, an election is an election. It should not make anyone mad because really the only time you really have to pay attention to politics is on voting day whihc takes a minute out of your life.
  7. I usually come here during my grade 12 computer applications course, All assignments take me about 5 minutes and the rest of the hour I got spare time
  8. Greg and to anybody else that can answer this question: Were polls taken off well I was away? Or is it just me? I want to put a poll up here but the option isn't their yet a poster recently put up a poll. Could you help me on this? Thanks
  9. suprise, suprise a Liberal scandel. This is great for CPC supporters like me!
  10. It wouldnt be easy to attack Canada if anyone ever tried to and I am not saying the US woundt defend us they probably would (im trying to make a point that we can defend ourselves without the US) Say the US wasnt their. If a powerfull country tried to take over Canada. They would have a hell of a time you know how many patriots like me who who would fight a gorilla war if our armed forces were gone? millions. The invading country would have a hell of a time trying to take over Canada it would be years. All the patriot fighters like me would sit their in Canadian forest seting off bombs and traps against invading attackers. By time this all happaned it would be like Iraq many casualties and a government forced to figure out when they are goint to withdrawl, or if they ever can bring stability to the country.
  11. With the election winding down to less than a week away. Politics is goign to be all over the news as isparty leaders jumping on the oportunity to gain power. In this topic I would like to discuss why you think the leader of your choice should gain power. A Conservative government is the best choice for our county. FOr simple facts I will spell out: He cares about are economy lower large and small business taxes so their is new bussiness growth in Canada. Health Care Education Coruption and ethics National Defense Adressing the fiscal imbalance Working on making Canada better than it already is All these things and more the liberals have said theyd do but havn't, its time for a Conservative government. god bless and stand up for Canada!
  12. Why don't the principles of MAD apply to Norther Korea? If anything, madmen like Kim Jong Il are even more limited than major powers, given their limited ability to strike (they don't have a missile capable of reaching the continental U.S.). In any case, a nuclear attack (whether thwarted by m,issile defense or not) would mean nuclear retaliation, which in turn would be the end of North Korea. Kim Jong may be crazy, but he's not suicidal. Frankly I don't think we need the United States help. If we had a plan to defend our own territory we'd do just fine. I would be in favour of just such a plan (obviously, it would not include BMD) if it meant less integration with the U.S. But I don't believe all the talk of bolstering Canada's military has anything to do with national defense. A simple look at a globe will tell you why Iran and North korea are potential threats to their neighbours, but not North America. False premise. Missile defense doesn't make us stronger. Notwithstanding the fact that the threat missile defense is designed to thwart does not exist, Canada doesn't have the population or economic might to be a superpower. Canada has no nuclear weapons and is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, which restricts who can have nuclear weapons. Again, Canada doesn't have the necessary prerequisites to acheive super power status. BTW, what countries are pushing us around? Denmarks Hans Island, US driving Nuclear subs trhough arctic waters, the British selling us (excuse the language) shit subs and smaller countries driving through Canadian waters and landing on Canadian owned territory and trying to take it away from us or testing are reaction. Also I dont think population matters to become a super power. But if it does are you saying if Canada had or ever will have the prerequisetes will we decide to become a nuclear super power along with the USA and other countries?
  13. Honestly, if the current system of going to a local school gymnasium is too complex or too much work to bother voting, do we really want to get these people voting anyways? Why not?
  14. It would have lasted a bit longer but and maybe lost the war but all the allied nationas were involved in saving the wrold some how. Likewise without Canada, Britain, France and some of the other smaller countries the US could not have faught Hitlers forces alone.
  15. As I said in another thread, the expectation seems to be that our participation wouldn't cost us a dime. Well, kids, there's no such thing as a free lunch. If we want a place at the table and if we want to have any say, chances are we'll be required to pony up. And even then, I sincerly doubt the U.S. would be willing to cede any real decision making authority to Canada. (Also: I think the use of the term "ally" in the context of U.S./Canada military relations is disingeneous: such a term denotes a meeting of equals, which is not the case. Under any scheme to further integrate Canda's defense into the United States' goals, we'd most certainly be the client. Or, less charitably, the "bottom".) Which is something they would do anyway, no? Thing is, I'm not at all worried about missiles being shot down over Canadian airspace. I'm very worried about the potential of Canadian taxpayer dollars going into a program that is little more than a direct grant to U.S. defense contractors. If we sign on to missile defense we are taking initiative for protecting ourselves, and maybe one step closer to becoming a military super power. I am not sure how many nukes Canada has or if we have any but we are protecting ourselves from again rogue nations. I am a strong beliver that Canada after WW2 should have joined the US in becoming a super power. If we were today other countries wouldnt be oushing us around.
  16. Yes the PM did not have to order it the military dosobeyed it's orders. But for good reason. I think Canada under defense treaties we should be supporting our allies like United States by signing on to the Missile Defense program. It is our obligation to defend Canadian soverignty not the United States, they are our allies and all and they will help us if the need ever arose but they want to know that we could do the same for them if the United Staes needed Military help.
  17. National Defense: I think National Defense is an important issue facing Canadians and the world everyday. Shifting alliances, Terrorism and Global instability call for an increased budget for National Defense no matter how naive people are about how "safe" Canada really is. Harper has set this is a priority and hopefully will win the election. Health Care:[/u] I think Health care is another important issue and health care should remain public because it is what Canada needs is a program like this. It has been around for years and it should remain. Layton and Martin both use Private health care so they could care less if Health went private. Harper will defend and reduce wait times in Health care. Economy I think Canada should become more competitive in the international market to raise are economy even further and be ahead of our southern freinds. Harper will open up new markets and reduce taxes to business to allow them to expand and grow across the world. Martin will continue to ignore Canadian companies and have flags of other nations sailing over business's that are rightfully Canadian. These and more are many issues that I think are effecting Canada today and need to be dealt with, with a neew government.
  18. That idea is a disgrace to our military. Your saying that are military should basicly be a place for punishment. Are military deserves much better than these scum joining their ranks.
  19. I think youth are not interested in politics because theirs not enough pushing at school to vote. I am 16 turning 17 in a month and I have been interested in politics since i was 13 and I cannot wait to vote. I think the best thing for youth to get them to vote is having their peers, people the same age as them like me teling them why they should vote and kind of pushing them along as to their role in Canadian soceity. I think it would help alot because knowing that somone the same age as you is interested in this kind of thing really helps and they are more likely to listen to their peers than older adults preaching to them.
  20. Somebody who wanted to could find a whole list of quotes about how various countries (including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, etc) were so economically intertwined in the early-mid 20th century that they would never go to war. As an argument, yours amounts to about zero. But that the 20th century wars were neccassary to secure freedom. The US is not going to go to war with another country for no reason with an already at stake American economy and put themselves in more debt.
  21. As much as I owuldnt want to demote Harper from his position, I think your right about him as Minister of DND he would make a good one.
  22. There is no such thing as a defensive weapons system. Any system engenders a development process whereby other states are obligated to counter with their own sytem or cede all power to the originator. Plus, the signal aspect of the missile shield is the abililty to control the system from space and ultimately to launch space based weapons. So tell me, if you're, let say, China, do you look at this and say "Gee! The U.S. would never use the space launch capability to target us, would they? I mean its not like they ever dropped nuclear bombs on an Asian population or invaded a region close to us, is it?" Are you saying the US would purposly attack us, im definatly not a yank lover im far from it but they would be commiting suicide not only economicly invadeing their largest trading partner they would be in violation of the NATO treaty and probably all UN nations would join in on are defense. The way i see it is we better get weapon sin space before our enemies do we need to have the most strategic point, dont kiss it away to are enemies is what i say.
  23. I agree with you on this one, I have always noticed his stutoring problems, eye twitching and pausin gin his sentences when he makes a speech to the nation, which in most cases is a sign of lieing or a liar. Lets just say hes as good as Bush in makeing a speech to the nation
