Ok here it goes, Right now I would be happy with a Conservative government but here's how it would run if it were me. My top priorities, tax cuts, boosted military spending, Missile shield, defense, health care and the canadian economy and trade. I like Harper where he is as PM Deputy Prime minister would stay the same Peter Mckay I would set a big Defense policy probably puting aprox. 25 billion towards it to start out eventually make it more. Overlooking the department I would have Liberal Chief of defense staff Rick Hillier as the Minister of DND. Now for Finance Minister I would chose Ralph Goodale (HA joke, just kidding ) This is a hard one but I think monty solburg (spelt it wrong) would be a good FM Even though I don't have much background reading of him. Health care would be at the top of my list with my Defense budget, and I would proably bring back Ujjal Dosanjh. As international affairs I would have Jean Cretien in office (to tell the americans off ) Anyways I could go on with this but ill stop their.

Well, it has come to my attention that Missile Defense is coming back to being a campaign issue. Harper says he will hold a free vote in the commons on it and the Liberals say that they will ban the weponization of space (assuming missile defense leads to weapons in space) I think Harper has it right holding a free vote. I for one am for the Missile shield it will protect Canada's soverignty from terrorist's and rogue nations and for other matters I will not get in to. Holding a free vote in the commons is the democratic way of doing this, some people don't want the shield and some people like myself want it, with a vote I think it will be fair and allows either side to be happy with the democratic process, regardless of which side wins. Any oppinions?

Very interesting, I would like to do this but could you clarify it for me a little? DOes it have to be this list of people? Also I can move anyone anywhere like say for example I could take Deputy Prime minister "z" and make them say Prime Minister?
-
Did the Conservatives bad talk the Canadian military? I didn't think so. Yes they went on TV and explained it was a mistake but still it was their fault for making the add, right?
-
How dare the liberals place an attack add not only on Harper but our military. It is an insult to this country. This people, this is a disgrace. Not only can the Liberals not fund our military properally now we know exactly how they feel about them. Paul Martin thinks they are a bunch of savages. Then on live TV he denies the add was ever made and said it was leaked. Even if it was he was still responsible for it and it was made by him. The Liberal party will make an excuse to get out of anything and will do anything or more to stay in power.
-
Yep the liberals also use private healthcare
-
Before I would have though a Conservative minority, but in recent weeks the Conservatives have been ahead in the polls and I expect a majority out of the CPC. After the Liberal add basicly saying are military is for savages I would say the Conservatives are definatly ahead.

Happy lat enew year everyone. I havn't been on in a while as i have been busy. But have a great one

Voteing is your civil duty as a Canadian. If you do believe in democracy than you should vote. If you can't take a few minutes of your time to mark an "X" on a piece of paper than you shouldn't be in Canada where we are among a few other countries who actually allow their citizens a say.

Marvin Gaye. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most of these people you listed really has nothing to do with the injury of these soldiers. I am in deed sorry for those who lost their lives but they did enlist in the Canadian Army so obviously they new somtime in their carreer they'd be shipped off to war. You can't blame anybody you listed above except for a few people in cluding the war criminal Sadam for what happaned to the soldiers because war is war and as long as their is human kind their will be wars that Canada must unfortuantly sacrafice soldiers. You cannot keep on assuming if Canada sends soldiers of to war that they are all going to come home safe in their loved ones arms.

Sexual Orientation and the Canadian Voter
politika replied to sharkman's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah, why would any political party care about minorities? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> THey obviously do care abotu minorites if you look at how much they have spent on them in the past, Italians, Chinese, Aboriginals. -
Religion and the Canadian Voter
politika replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Normie, On trying to make some kind of stupid insinuation with this topic you're dying by the minute. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed, I think this has become a silly attempt to discredit the CPC... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree as well, its his way of spreading hate towards religion adn at the same time bash the Conservatives. This guys a troll. -
yes but if you have heard Paul Martins speech denying the allagations he stutered and slured his words. By the way the person who wanted proof of this, you should be watching the national it sbeen all over the news, but I think theirs somthing baout it on www.cbc.ca
-
What has been known for a whole is secret CIA planes touching down in Canada, but what we didn't know was that they might be transfering Terror suspects to be tortured. But what I don' tunderstand is why we are investegating it, considering Paul Martin clearly said none of this was happaning Although if you watched the National last night if you listened and watched closely to Paul Martin when asked wheather any of this was happaning he stuttered a few times and had shifty eyes as he denyed it Are government obviously knows what is happaning and just wants to deny anything and prove to Canadians that they are doing somthing to stop it or they don't know and they aren't sure it's goiging on but they are investigating it any way there for contradicting them selves. This sounds fishy either way.

Yeah, and don't forget they had info about Bin Laden planning an attack in America the month before. Bush blamed intelligence agencies. Or, maybe he just didn't bother to read the memo? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Knowing Bush thats proabbly possible, proabbyl busy listenign to his Ipod or trying to open doors in the white house

Well, the U.S.'s big sophisticated military didn't prevent four airplanes from being hijacked and flown around for hours before being used as kamikazes to kill more than 3,000 people on 9-11. I still say conspiracy I don't think our nation's defence policy should be based on covering every single possibility, but should focus on the most likely threats. We need to find a role and focus on doing it well. Not just spend a bunch of money for the sake of spending money. Finnaly we agree on somthing, I think we should pick a certain part of our military and spend money on it. I dont sugest making Canada into a super power but make are military adequete to support our country and to support a small army to our allies like the US, Britain etc in LEGAL invasions of ocuntries <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Canada is 9,984,670 square kilometres of most frozen tundra. That's a helluva lot of territory to cross. Most major population centres are mere kilometres from the U.S. border, which would bring any invader within easy striking distance of the U.S.(who would under no circumstances permit a hostile invasion force to waltz into one of its chief trading partners). Suppose someone decided to airdrop a force into Fort MacMurray? They'd have to first cross thousands of kilometres of hostile airspace and drop a large force into the middle of nowhere, miles away from any resupply. What if this rouge planes destination isn't somwhere in the center of Canada that would just be suicide my freind. I am tlaking about one of our maratime cities could they drop somthing on a city liek that before CF18's ever interecepted it? But your comment about US protecting us i basicly saying we should bag the US for help everytiem the need arises instead of building a military of our own. There's only a handful of countries with that kind of capability (including ballistic missiles). I'm more worried about an alien invasion than an attack from a foreign country. I agree with you on this one but I am making a point about Canada not haveing to rely on a country and that their is still a small small chance of somone atacking Canada. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

"Yeah maybe someone should explain how Canada, a geographically isolated country, is threatened by anyone else. "-blackdog gladly, maybe if you lived 200 years ago geographic isolation would have been a barrier But in the early 20th century a little thing called a airplane and ships which could run on steam engines were invented and have some what evolved now. As well as long range balistic missiles. So obviously geogrpahical isolation doesn't matter if you want to go to Africa you can because of transportation. Anyone can attack Canada from anywhere in the world.

Which MP Would You Most Like To See Lose Their Sea
politika replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Deffinatly Belinda Stronach she is a blood traito only out for herself and power because she knows which party will be in power the longest. -
And what threat do these countries pose to us, that's all I want to know. Well with a samll military like ares, we are vulnerable. SOmbody should also explain to you what happns when one country poses a threat to another Some versions of the Taepodong-2 missile may be capable of hitting North America, but that missile has not been tested. In fact, the DPRK hasn't tested a ballistic missile since 1998. But can it be launched on north america at any time? So if they did it once they can do it again right? that is my question to you. Planes from where? No where I am obviously makeing a point that IF rouge planes were in Canadian Air space like in America on Spetember 11th what would we do? That's a different issue from military spending. agree <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
-
That's the best you can do? You're basically conceding that there's no country hat is a threat to Canada. North Korea, in case you haven't noticed, is across teh Pacific ocean. As for terrorism, I've already pointed out that a beefed up military would do little good in combatting domestic terrorism <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I am not listing every country that wants to "waste" Canada, you should be able to figure it out yourself that Canada has enemies. My theory is basicly every country that hates the USA they hate Canada equally because some people think we are the USA. Unfortunatly the fact is North Korea is off the ocean but correct me if I am wrong they have claimed to have missiles that can reach North America and that's why the US is so concerened about dissarming crazy kim. As for beefed up military it would do good IE if we purchased more CF18's it would be easy for Canada's Air Force to shoot down in coming plains. CSIS is doing a good job but I am sure they could be funded a little better to do their job as Canada's inteligence Agency.

Ridiculous idea. I may not agree with my CPC opponents on this board but at least I credit them with having considerable knowledge. I would like to think that those who vote actually have knowledge rather than are voting in order not be fined. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> would it change your answer to know that they may put a possible "non of the above" to spoil the ballot, that way if you have no favourites you dont have to vote for them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that would be an improvement but I see little purpose in government getting involved in forcing people to vote who are disinterested and uninformed and are voting merely to avoid a fine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I think young adults like me are not voteing meerely because of the fact that, they have "more important things do do" and that to me is no excuse. To me voting is your involvement and participation in soceity, It is the one thing that is required to do and i see no harm in it it takes 5 minutes out of your life every few years and plus you get a free ride to the polls byt your favourite parties representitive, whats not to like
