As of this morning Canadian and British hostages were freed from the Swords of Rchousness by British SAS, Delta Force and JTF 2 as well as our inteligence services. I would like to congradulate our special forces and inteligence agency as well as the PM of Canada for their success in the operation my hat is off to the men and woman who took part in the rescue.

Liberal Leadership Kit for sale on ebay
politika replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Rick Mercer for ya haha. I wouldn't pay a dime for that position! -
I for one agree with our role in Afganistan and I think that we should definatly change our tactics. I strongly agree that we should follow American agression in Afganistan it would help out a lot more than trying to commit to a lost cause such as peace keeping. Right now we should have more soldiers worrying about Taliban and Alqueida insurgents than building a relationship with the Afgans, and we DEFINATLY should not be puting down our weapons when we meet with villagers as we learned a few days ago in the axe attack we should suspect everyone.
-
Yep, I agree its time for this bias piece of garbage to go. He stood back well sponsership was on and now he decides to attack Harper on his ethics with Emerson. Good riddence
-
I agree. But I think we can all do better in making this forum less bashing and more debating. First of all I think we should start geting rid of some of these posters that cause nothing but trouble.

Potential Liberal leadership candidates test support
politika replied to stignasty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
She is the only thing even closely resembling a babe in the whole house. We need more hot chicks in the house - [somebody has to get the coffee]. I think she is a clueless, power hungry slurper that will do ANYTHING to get "a head" - in other words the perfect polititian. GO BELINDA GO!!!! I love that sombody has to get the coffee comment! -
You have to be kidding me  another simpleton that wants to argue the same thing others have debating in this same thread. You posted basicly the same thing that people who want this weapon in school have. So I won't waste my time arguing another simpleton on this so do me a favour and read previous posts by me/argus/geoffry and others.

Potential Liberal leadership candidates test support
politika replied to stignasty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yea but knowing the ethnic commisioners bias investigation of Harper he wouldnt investigate Belinda. But if Belinda does win the Conservatives are guaranteed a majority next election -
Foreigners aren't telling YOU how to live their life. On the otherhand, you're telling them how they have to act. They just want to be left alone, to practice their faith and culture as they please, just as you are allowed to practice your faith and cultural heritage as your parents have taught you. They want to live their life? The damn sikhs took the Kirpan issue to the higest cout in Canada, they are trying to teel us what to do, and how to run OUR country.
-
Argus make good points, youon the otherhand lack common sense, this is a debate about the Kirpan not about peoples debating skills. Canada would have a culture but it is diluted with foreigners coming in telling us what their going to do and when they are going to do it. Soon we will be a country just like these foreigners came from where Canada is divied and we blow eachother to threads.

Poll: Most Canadians support Iraq War
politika replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Canada / United States Relations
By a 46% to 40% margin. (it's not a large margin but it is a start) So do Americans, by a 60 to 32 margin. So does Brazil, by a 65 to 29 margin. So does Poland, by a 65 to 18 margin. So does Great Britain, by a 49 to 40 margin. So does Finland, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, India, Australia and Afghanistan. And so does Iraq, by a 74 to 23 margin. But but but...I thought the Iraqis hated the US for toppling Saddam. Didn't the Iraqis watch Fahrenheit 9-11? Haven't the Iraqis been listening to the Western Left? Don't they know about the Quagmire, the Civil War, the Theocracy, that Bush held a plastic turkey when he visited the troops at Thanksgiving, the Iraqis who attacked the fallen Saddam statue were zionist neocon CIA plants, it's costing too much to liberate Iraqi children, stealing the oil, and the wholesale slaughter of 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians, minorities being used as fodder - the caucasion soldiers are merely dumb jocks - for Bush's illegal and immoral war, and whatever the hell is playing this week on the Liberal Meme CD. Where do you get this info, canada doesn't want anything to do with Iraq. Come back and try again. -
Second that. Very sad to see such anti-Canadian bigotry passed off as a defense of Canadian culture. Hey gerryhatrick do you liek the word biggot or somthing, I swear you have used it a 100 times in this same fricken thread Do you even know what it means?

The ignorance and hatred on display here is stunning. Can I ask where you're from? its not hatred its freedom of speech. Not that it is any of your business but I am from Canada and live in city called Winnipeg if you read my profile I wouldn't have to waste time typing this out.

Actually no. According to the Supreme Court of Canada (in a UNANIMOUS 8-0 decision) has said that the Kirpan is not a Weapon and is allowed in schools. For the chip-heads: Kirpan <> weapon <> not allowed in schools. Sorry about the double negative. So, there's a risk of a "religious attack" now? You still demand on fighting this even though you know your wrong, wellandboy is right just because we all here are concerned about the safety of others you label us as bigots and intolerant. So let me guess you must be 12? If not your pretty immature for this forum. So why don't you leave this forum for a while grow up and than we will have a debate on this but for now I don't want to here you say anything about a unanomous rule by the suprme courts again, just because the courts say doesn't mean we have to agree with them and since you are so hell bent on rights you should know what the right of freedom of speech and thought is and that is what everybody here in this thread is exercising.

It is not neccessary for the immigrant to change and become like everyone else. And it's not neccessary for the society to change either. That's the beauty of Canada. Our immigrants make us richer. Your example of going to an intollerant society and flaunting dress codes is not applicable because Canada IS TOLERANT. Some of the present company excluded, of course. It makes me proud that our Supreme Court UNANIMOUSLY voted to allow this innocuous religious practice in our schools. Nobody has ever been hurt by a Kirpan, and it's pure intollerant fear-mongering at work on the side of the opposition. Okay enough with the court unanimously coting bull shit, I did not F&*@& vote for it so lay off. So no ones been killed with a Kirpan beofre, well since schools are going to allow it more and more skihs will carry it on them and it will only be a matter of time before one loses his temper and kills a 7 year old kid. Your forgeting half these people kill and commit terrorist attacks in the name of their god.
-
You see that's the thing about our charter of rights. Either everybody has them or no one has them. If you are allowed to force these people to assimilate, what happens when someone bigger and stronger (or more populous) comes along and forces you to change your ways? I will assume you oppose the language laws in Quebec. The funny thing is, what you are recommending is pretty much the same thing. You feel your society is threatened by this display of religion and diversification (english language in PQ). The only way you know how to fight back against it is to ban it. Again, I don't think Canadian values are going to fail simply because of Kirpans and turbans. And if it is so fragile, is it worth saving? No I don't oppose the language laws of Quebec I just think if you come to Canada you should have to learns either French or English both (both official languages) Than once you assimilate be like rest of Canada not wearing dress wear that date back to 1200 AD than we will talk abou tyour rights and freedoms in Canada! Am I right? When a person from another foreign country comes to Canada for a day and tells a person like me whoes family has lived here for decades it kind of pisses me off. Especially since I wouldn't get away with wearing a Kirpan if I was a white turban bearer.
-
Keep bringing it on. This is an interesting insight into the ignorance and intollerance that exists - sadly - in our society. I have Sikh neighbours. The old man has a beard (looks good, not "ridiculous" at all) and wears robe-like dress. His turban is not all that big, really. Are you basing your opinion on the Johnny Carson turban perhaps? And of course the man will have a kurpin on his person. My neighbour is a member of modern day Canadian society. Get used to it. And yes, I can relate to him very well. He is a stand-up guy and always friendly. It's interesting you call Sikh Canadians "curious relics". That confirms that you don't understand them at all. Calling them "curious" explicitely implies you know little about them. What you don't understand you are more likely to fear and hate. Just give it up calling people un educated because they disagree with you isn't going to win you this afgument considering your among the only few in this forum who think this kid should carry a weapon on him. By the way a real member of modern day Canadian socieity isn't a weird man with a robe and a turbin walking down the streets it's a well groomed, clean, well dressed man or woman, thats modern day soceity in in the 21st century go look it up, than come back and tlak to me about Canadian socieity.

Oh boo hoo they will feel like outsiders. They should be lucky we let them come to this country because most of them come from evil tyranical murdering governments, so when they come to Canada they should shut up and be happy they are aloud to vote and live in a free country. One word: Assimilation

You get the stupid post of the year award. Hands down. Go get educated on the Kirpan. Then come back and try again. THe Kirpan is a knife you ignornat fool, your post arnt anyhting special either almost somthing to laugh at you can hardly state your oppinions with out backing them up. A kirpan is a knife and can be used in a assault mos tof these people in this forum will back me up, and if you got your head out of your ass you would know that. Just answer me this would you want your kid in a school where a kid with a KNIFE was sitting next to him? DOn;t even tell me you would. Anyways wtf arms their kid? Apparently the bandwidth on the Sikh Canada homepage has been excede by everyone look at that article I posted earlier in this thread. The comment earlier about the crusader sword isn't invalid. The Sikh's wear their Kirpan as a symbol of victory for freedom of their religion, victory gained through military means. So why not wear my 6 foot broadsword, symbol of my religions victory for freedom? Why? Because its ridiculous! Just like these Sihks. The Sikh's do not believe in Canadian law, it says so in their guidelines, that they must put their religion first. And removal of a Kirpan is like an attack on religion so they can defend with lethal force if anyone tries to take it away. If these people don't want to be Canadians like the rest of us, and leave their weapons at home, they can go move to some place that accepts weapons carried around all the time. Seriously, Canada is no place for weapons to be carried on all people at all times. How ridiculous. Either have them denounce their views on carrying weapons at all times or deport. But whats sad about it is this is Canada the land of where minorities always get their way and the whites get pushed aside. Lets face today theyf orget to mention one hting about the charter of rights: Its only their to protect minorities.

Where do we draw the "tolerance line"?

Uhm, yes. In a school? With a kirpan that met school regulations?---- Look, we are talking about some kid wearing the equivalent of a cross around his neck. If you want to forbid all forms of religious symbols in State schools, then fine. Let's do it and get on with life. Then, if some people want to have a religious school where they can freely genuflect and carry bazookas to the Great God of Ordnance, they can organize (and pay for) their own schools. IOW, if this thread is just a rant against religion in State schools, then say so. Yes but can a cross around the neck kill somone as a knife can?

Too dangerous, the Liberals would have a ticket to the minority population next election. Elections aside, we should just treat everyone equally and ban all religious items and symbols from school. I disagree. I think Harper could make some serious political hay by pointing out that if the Liberals had their way, the not-withstanding clause would have been eliminated, and the Prime Minister would no longer have the ability to protect school kids from this outrageous decision. People would be thanking their lucky stars that the Liberals didn't get in. The polls I've seen show 95-99% of respondants are opposed to the Supreme Court's decision. That means a LOT of Liberal voters are not happy with this, and would probably welcome some way to reverse it. What's outrageous is the idea that Sikh's would be attacking other students with something they carry as a religious symbol. Whoever came up with the idea that this was something of "public safety" should be looked-down upon for trying to persecute people for the religion they practice. We're not talking about allowing assault and murder, we're allowing someone to carry a religious relic. Why not ban rosaries while we're at it, because you could probably strangle someone with one of those...or dig their eyes out with the crucifix. Just because they're carrying the Kirpan does not mean they're going to be murdering school children. What else do you carry a knife on you for? religious or not you dotn carry somthing on you liek that without using it.
