The issue is becoming muddled in your mind. One is trying to kill themselves and take out as many infidels (women and children civilians and men) as they can as their Holy Book teaches so they can claim 72 virgins. The other isn't. And Scriblet, a very valid point: anyone daring to call their religion violent is risking death. How ironic.

But like I said, liberals only defend free speech when it's the kind of speech where Howard Stern is doing something on the radio sexually explicit, not when the Pope is being shut down by Muslim extremists. That's Muslim extremists, not liberals.

Other people that should have been GG.

Ah yes, some things are just priceless, aren't they? -
You completely missed my point. I wasn't talking about this forum or the posters here. I was talking about Muslims who threw a hissy fit during the muslim cartoon controversy who now seem to be throwing another hissy fit over free speech by the Pope. I was saying they are trying to shut up anybody who says anything they don't like. And I was saying this is wrong.

Typical knee jerk response, trot out your pet lists that 'prove' Christians are whatever the topic of the day is, and smugly settle back in your chair like you've accomplished something. Once again, there has been very little revealed about what is taught behind closed doors of the mosques the world over. I submit, since there is so much hatred coming from that side of the aisle, that there is some hate speech going on against their two favorite topics of hate, Jews and Christians. What the Pope said if nothing else is a valid opinion regarding Mohammad and what some of his own people in the 1300s thought of his using the sword to spread the word of Allah. If the Muslim world is going to pull another hissy fit over it(like they did with the cartoon 'controversy'), it's time they learn to be big boys and girls and grow up. Trying to stifle any opinion that they don't like smacks of a world wide dictatorship. Where are the liberal types who cry 'free speech' any other time something controversial is said? I'll tell you where: they don't like the Pope so his free speech means nothing to them, it's only liberal free speech which is defended. Hypocrites. Either all speech is free or none at all is free.

Good call, but now you're dating yourself!

Nothing like telling it like it is to cause knee jerk reactions all over cyberdom. What I'd like to know is what is being said from the pulpits of mosques the world over about Christians or Jews. Muslim clerics dare not be so honest as to reveal what they are boring into the brains of their congregations. Why else is there so much vile hatred coming from that side?

About time sometime exposed the soft underbelly of the Muslim world. Try to negotiate with 'death to America'.

I'm holding a candle for MB. In a battle of wits, Monty made the others appear unarmed.

Non-lethal? Ok ever cook something in a microwave? I hope these are volunteers. I would have to have it tested on non suspecting people. That could be um, bad. So is this how they test the new weapons? Actually you know what, this may be the right course. See how the American population feels about it before they use it in the battlefeild. Use your own people as guinnea pigs. But I guess that would be a problem in itself. So if the test subjects say no, does it get tested on someone else? How often has the US Military tested it's new weapons on unsuspecting Americans? Something to look into and consider. I understand that new weapons systems need testing but how far does that go? Accidents are going to happen as well, without a doubt. In my opinion these kinds of weapons are the direct result of bleeding heart Liberals in the media and elsehere who decry death of even multi-murderers sentenced to death. Hard to say if they'll be beneficial or not. The taser has been met with mixed reviews. From what I understand, it's uncomfortable to those on the receiving end!

' Your understanding of this event is just more 'hate the west' silliness. At any rate, five years later, it's nice to see 9/11 isn't fading from memory like I thought it would.

I did not say "Christians are blowing themselves up to kill others and get virgins". I asked why MSM doesn't distinguish between Christians and radical Islam, and indeed on the difference between right and wrong. Sharkman, why are you attacking me? Oops, I forgot about this odd thread, and just noticed that jbg thought I was attacking him. Perhaps poor wording on my part, but I was actually agreeing with you jbg. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Historic presidency perspectives?
sharkman replied to Figleaf's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Geez, man, you'd think Bush was the first president that got somewhere because of connections! They ALL benefit from connectoins and economic status. That's why they're policitians, that's what it's all about. -

How long have you actually listened to this man - seriously. link I have and don't bother linking to hand picked selections that have been poured over by people that hate him and would love to see him impeached or assassinated or both. -
Pope scolds Canada on gay marriage, abortion
sharkman replied to bradco's topic in Religion & Politics
Er, you mean lack of education of those hetrosexual couples which Leafless claimed were responsible for the creation of society? Hmm, quite impressive that a group that while ignorant, can still engineer a society. I can't wait for the day that Harper uses the notwithstanding clause to overide the SCC. Maybe he'll open the abortion debate the same day. Don't worry, he won't do it quite yet because he still values the PM's residence. No, that's not what I mean. I don't know what your issue with white people is, but they are not the ones who are overpopulating. Think China, India and other regions that have a high birth rate. -

If you want to claim that hetrosexual couples are responsible for the creation of society, then you should also claim that hetrosexual couples are responsible for all the damage that overpopulation has caused. The fact is many societies go to great extents to encourage birth and population control simply to mitigate the effects of uncontrolled reproduction. Maybe its the homosexual couples which shoudl be given "special benefits" because they biologically cannot produce children and are thus less likely to deplete the earth's resources. Uh, no, a lack of education is the reason there is overpopulation in some areas of the world. Anyway, Harper's going to fix this whole problem eventually when he changes back the definition of marriage, and we'll get back in step with the rest of the world. -
$85,000 government poll to rate CPC policy popularity
sharkman replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually, his attempt at scandalizing has failed once again. Everybody around here knows he can only sing one song, and we're gettin' tired of the screeching noises. -
Dude, you better get a liberal playbook fast. The witch is Bush. They figure if they can 'get' enough of Bush's assistant witches, sooner or later they can draw a bead on the big witch himself. How come no one is being charged? Liberal judges lawyers the land over would love to get in on this action. But they can't, mostly because no criminal activity took place. Why else is nobody being charged.

Another misdirected, misinformed miscue witch hunt by the Dems goes down in flames. They haven't been the same since Bubba. Oh well, back to the impeach Dubya strategy.

Pope scolds Canada on gay marriage, abortion

I've got bad news for you. The Taliban and al quaida have said much worse things about Canada that the Pope ever has. Just FYI. "We share the same world"? Come on, there's all kind of organizations right here in Canada that call for things like jail time for gay activities, punishment for educating woman and cutting off the hands of a thief. You don't have to look so far afield as Italy(or where ever those comments came from). BTW, just because the almighty CBC claims the Pope lashed out at Canada, it doesn't make it true. He wasn't, it was just more typical knee jerking by the far left CBC. Like I said, believe any moral you want or follow none. But don't act surprised when a religious leader comes out against gay marriage. It's really nothing to get worked up about, he was just talking to members of his organization. If he comes to Canada and starts spouting off in the media, then you'll have some Pope lashing. -
Since when do fundamentalist Christians (stop using the offensive contraction, please) regularly blow themselves up to cause indiscriminate death. I am not Christian, but your comparison is vile. Yes, even if these sentiments are repeated around here againandagainandagain, the two fundamentalists are not the same. But go ahead, believe Christians are blowing themselves up to kill others and get virgins, but those who can see with objectivity will keep smiling up their sleeves.

Pope scolds Canada on gay marriage, abortion
sharkman replied to bradco's topic in Religion & Politics
I don't think some of you get it. The Pope was not addressing you or your business. He was talking to some other religious guys who are part of the Catholic church. Unless you are a member of the Catholic church, his comments are of no purpose to you. Raising your hackles over this shows your intolerance. As always, God doesn't force anybody to do anything. Last time I checked, Canada was not a Theocracy, therefore no church could dictate anything to anyone, except those like me who willingly submit to God. Since 99% of all churches are against gay marriage I find it odd that some are surprised to hear that a church leader is against gay marriage. No duh, kind of like christmas is in December this year. Follow any morals that you please or follow none. Your life is yours, a gift from God to do what you will and reap the benefits of your choices. -

C is not "fairly well". It's pretty much the definition of average. So he outperformed Kerry on this one. I guess that means Kerry is below average? Good thing he didn't get in the oval office. -

I, for one, am glad and relieved that a Pope has the gumption to tell it like it is. Instead of name calling, if you don't like it why don't you turn the channel(or page). Reminder: Religion is not a democracy. God doesn't ask us for our input on moral issues, kind of like the way mom didn't ask me for mine when I was a toddler and wanted to touch the hot stove. -
$85,000 government poll to rate CPC policy popularity
sharkman replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Billions and billions? Was it that much? My, how a few months can serve to distort reality for some!! In any case, at some point the unrelated actions of others will not serve to excuse current actions. Are you comfortable with this poll and it's cost? If you are honest you would admit that it was poorly advised. Even the staunchly Conservative Canadian Taxpayers Federation has critisized this sh#t. So, what's up, pegger? You're almost respectful in your disagreement with me, but then in your private message to me you use terms like "mental retardation". Are you getting a little unstable or are you just trying to get around the name calling rule here at our forum? Either way, it's in rather poor taste, but nothing I'm not surprised about coming from you. To address your above comments, I was honest the first time and am impressed they did a poll for 85 grand. If the Liberals had done this, you'd be all over the forum with the good news.
