  1. You don't seem to realize that Chretien did not get the boot because of broken promises. There's very little chance of that happening. Chretien won an election after promising to scrap the GST, and breaking that promise, so a difference in income trust strategy is not going to do it, I'm afraid. And with a small "l" leader like Dion, Harper is indeed within striking distance of a majority. I know that scares you, but then you're a left wing activist.
  2. How 'bout it's frickin' outrageous to put a baby with a wild animal?! The stupidest thing since Michael Jackson swung his baby from a balcony. What kind of hokey culture is it that allows babys to be treated this way?
  3. I was not curious as to gays in history, I know there are many. What I'm talking about is gays being accepted in cultures historically. Now the problem in objectively studying this is the recent attempt to rewrite history. All sorts of historical figures have been outed on the weakest evidence possible. There was even an attempt to say that Alexander the great was gay, like thousands of years after the fact they can actually PROVE it. But all that is besides the point. I'm wondering about ACTUAL cultures, not mere individuals. There seems to be few in history. What's this, tell me why you have pull with KD and Ellen. On second thought, maybe that would be too much info!
  4. That's pretty funny. The former Liberal candidates broke, maybe they should have managed their campaigns on the premise they might not win the election and hold back some so they could pay off debts. Serves them right.
  5. Oh yeah, I thought of another one. Sodom and Gomarroh(sp?) apparently came to be totally accepting of gays. The reason I'm curious is I'd like to see if cultures who accepted gay practice as normal thrived or not. Because it's a litmus test of sorts on a moral level. Among religions, it's a symptom of absolute moral decline, and I was curious to see what history showed. Canada, who has accepted gay practices, is facing interesting times. Our baby boom generation is about to retire, and we have no workforce to replace them. Our own population has been unwilling to have children, and aborting many of the ones we do. Therefore we are bringing in immigrants in a strategy to replace them, but the huge numbers will affect a paradigm shift in Canadian culture. Will these immigrants, who are notable in their cultural distaste for gays(India, Pakistan, China, Philipines, etc.), change our direction through voting blocks, or will we change them and continue down whatever path we are going. It's interesting to note that apparently Quebec is very picky about this as they don't want their culture changed, but Canada basically shrugs its shoulders.
  6. Using your link, read the title. Don't be surprised to hear Dion not actually say 'new image', since the Liberals were right in there hammering Harper when his image consultant became news. He wouldn't want to appear a hypocrite, but he is one.
  7. So you are against any culture that actively promotes the destruction of human beings? How about abortion? How is ending a human life not worse than circumcision? Your co-worker wants a God who runs around pulling people off of crosswalks and preventing innocent death. No doubt God would have to follow drunks and druggies around, pulling people out of the way, and causing bullets to miss and so on. I think the co-worker needs a super hero. God says things like don't get drunk, and don't covet your neighbor's wife, don't steal, don't lie, treat your neighbor as yourself, all which would cut down on a whole lot of grief. Don't blame God for what people choose to do.
  8. Evidence that God exists? Here's a few thoughts from the link. Here are just a few of the myriad of evidences that the Universe didn't just happen by chance: The carbon atom, necessary for life as we know it, should either not exist or be too rare for the existence of life. According to Sir Fred Hoyle, one of the world's leading astrophysicists, the complex series of atomic reactions necessary for the formation of carbon are so unlikely to have occurred by chance that when he calculated them his own atheism was greatly shaken. The ratio of the weight of the proton to the electron is so finely balanced that had it been much different there would be no Universe and no life. Theoretical physicist Steven Hawking says of this balance, "The remarkable fact is that the values of these numbers seem to have been very finely adjusted to make possible the development of life." There are four fundamental forces in nature: gravity, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. The strength of each balances with the others to make life possible. Physicist Richard Morris writes in his book The Fate of the Universe, "Every one of these forces must have just the right strength if there is to be any possibility of life...It is almost as though the universe had been consciously designed...." To believe the universe just 'happend' takes more faith than to believe someone created it.
  9. Sharkman,Sharkman,Sharkman. Let's be reasonable about this. Everybody has topics that interest them more than other topics. In this case "image" and "make-up" seem to be very important topics to Dobbin. Don't know why, maybe because he lacks an image or because he needs help with his make-up. What ever the case, and with that in mind, I'm sure Dobbin will contribute just as many posts with the Dion "image" post as he has this one. Right Dobbin? I got curious, so over the course of the day, counted up Jdobbins posts on this thread. He's made 146 posts on 31 pages. Does that sound like reasonable to you? He obviously has an obssession with Harper's hair, and needs help!
  10. Yes, what was this thread all about again? Oh yes, it was about the fact that Dion's office has a lot more transparency than Harper's office. What's this? Has Dion released the amount of money this is costing to the Liberal party and Canadians? This thread is about Dion finally getting it, probably in the hopes of staving off infighting in the Liberal party, and bringing someone on board to try to do something with his awful image.
  11. Here's a thought. Historically speaking, how many societies or empires or cultures in history viewed homosexuality as a normal healthy practice? I'm afraid I only know of one, maybe others could interject some. Near the end, the Roman Empire did, and it didn't last too long after that. Is that the norm (when an empire or country going under within a generation of accepting it as normal) or are there countries that grew with this teaching? Just wondering, it's not something that was kept track of very well.
  12. I'm sure there is, and as soon as the media starts looking into this there will be a huge outcry. Other than that, it's kind of sad to see Dion reduced to realizing he's got such a bad image he appoints a make-up man.
  13. Make that 18 posts in the last four pages! Or 8 in the last 2 pages alone.
  14. My attempt at a link didn't work earlier: Try this one. The first paragraph tells it all, where they describe Dion as narrowly missing a spring election.
  15. This just in: Dion's bringing in one Mr. Ruszkowski, to give him an image make over: Mr. Ruszkowski, who worked for former Liberal minister Jacques Saada and was a volunteer adviser for Ken Dryden's Liberal leadership campaign, will now be tasked with righting the ship. snip Mr. Dion has quietly worked on refining his communications approach, no longer reading his questions from a script when he rises to debate Stephen Harper during Question Period in the Commons, a Liberal source said. He also employs a diction coach to help improve his pronunciation in English - an area that many commentators have singled out as a major weakness. snip Inside his office, the Liberal Leader is responding to a wobbly spring performance by changing the senior aides who handle communications and political tactics, now that the threat of an election the Liberals did not want appears to have passed. Well, finally he realizes what was obvious from the start. Or is this merely an effort to placate those who want him replaced?
  16. There are verses in the bible that have lead some end timers to believe there will be a general ressuresction of the dead and a gathering of the living. But as a doctrine it isn't there nor is it particularly well defined even amongst the end timers. This is true. David MacPHerson writes about the Rapture theory. In 1830 a scottish woman named Margaret Macdonald had a vision. She then sent handwritten copies of her vision to local ministers. One such minister, Edward Irving(who was quite popular), completely accepted this vision as gospel truth and began teaching it, which influenced others and later began to be a favoured theory among some. Apparently he never gave her credit for the new doctrine because she was a woman and wouldn't have been believed. The Bible is silent on this Pre tribulation rapture. That should be enough for most.
  17. What is Comartin thinking? He's not going to win any browny points from his voters with a bill like that.
  18. I hope that's not the typical response from Quebecers, that would be pretty narrow minded.
  19. Good point. They're facing bombers and worse 24-7 and have to stay for up to 6 month tours. It's a shit job they have to do and I'm surprised they're holding up so well.
  20. They've looked pretty good so far, but if anyone can Detroit will do it. The way they handled the Sharks surprised me. If Anaheim beats Detroit, then I tend to agree with you. The problem I personally have with TO is the fact that Hockey Night in Canada keeps broadcasting their games ALL the time. Here in B.C. we would get them and never an Ottawa game when the Canucks weren't on. The thing is, the Leafs sucked, and we were NOT interested in watching them, but we didn't have a choice. Is it just me or did the Leafs play more Saturdays than anyone else?
  21. Drea, if you want to accept the writings of troskyist and socialist, who believes that christians all commit child abuse, go ahead. But more balanced views see that for what it is.
  22. Just out of curiosity, how many posts do you have in this thread? I counted the last 3 pages and jdobbin's got 15 posts on them, and this page isn't even full yet. Talk about monopolizing a thread.
  23. Yeah, after the Kyoto decision, Income Trusts, afghanistan, Emerson, and things like the 'Make-up' scandal, the $15000 in aircraft rentals, and being friendly to Bush, they are still 'tied' in the polls. Why is that? After all of these attacks on the Tories and more, they are still hanging in there. The Liberals must be thinking they've thrown everything they could at Harper to divert attention away from Dion's performance, and Harper remains within striking distance of a majority! And when an election nears and the Tories release the usual pre-election goodies AND the attack ads, Dion's house of cards will come crashing down, and soon after the next election, Dion will be forced out or resign. It's good to be a Tory these days.
  24. And yes, I'll attack Christianity whenver I see Benny Hinns or Pat Robertson spew their vile and hatred and self prophecy to anyone with a checkbook or VISA. So, let me get this straight. Whenever you see Benny or Pat you immediately attack Christianity? Please state all you methods. If these two are spewing vile and hatred to anyone with a chequebook or visa, tell me how they get any cash from these people. Kind of sounds like you are spewing hate.
  25. I'd hate to be picky, but your 'poll' only has 4 positive options out of 12. Polster's bias?
