  1. Yes. It was agreed upon in the Albert Act 1905 when Alberta was formed as a province. On your property taxes, in Alberta, you must select the school board you wish to fund. If your child is in the Catholic system your school taxes are to be allocated to that board. The same if your child is part of the public system.
  2. I'd like a combo system. All Canadians should have access to public healthcare. It wouldn't bother me if a Canadian decided to go for private treatment or private insurance as long as he/she continues to pay into the public system. Someone who would benefit from private insurance, in Canada, would probably be better off financially than the average person. These people generally do not use the public health care system as much as lower income earners. How much money is spent outside of Canada on private treatments? It would be better for that money to be spent within Canada. IMO.
  3. Interestingly, my siblings and I were spanked (on rare occasions). We never got into any trouble or have violent tendancies either. Have you ever tried to reason with a child who is 'blowing a fit'? A spank is both a discipline and discipline/attenion getter. A spank...I say spank, singular, as opposed to spanking. I believe in a smack on the bottom (crack on the arse) for discipline. My problem is this...why is our unelected senate trying to dictate what we can and can not do (w/ regards to parental disicpline)? Should this not be debated in Parliament? or not at all as the Supreme Court of Canada already ruled on this recently.
  4. Senate on spanking This gets at me...why is this unelected body going to dictate to me how I can and can not discipline my child. I was spanked a handful times as a child. Was I abused...no....looking back, I deserved them. I've even spanked my son a whole two times. I don't see the problem with a 'crack on the arse' when the situation warrants it. What do you think?
  5. Why doesn't Alberta have such a plan for Albertans? Can Alberta not afford it? British Columbia has a Pharmacare plan for British Columbians. Alberta does have a plan similar to this. Alberta Health & Wellness Its not widely advertised, but the service is there.
  6. NASCAR bought CASCAR in Sept. 06. Its now called the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. NASCAR Canadian Tire Series I think it may be a good move (time will tell). autos.canada.com Maybe the CPC are hoping this is true in Canada as well.
  7. Not in Vancouver. Come over to the Calgary South office and apply.
  8. I saw a small heading on bourque about this. Does anyone know if he did or not?
  9. My wife and son just received their passports. It took less than 6 weeks to get them. Not too bad all things considering. The wait in line was approx. 2 hours. People can pay extra to have their passport applications hurried up. I paid extra to get a 48 hour turn around on mine before.
  10. Do any of you guys or gals remember a short video from about 7 - 8 yrs. ago about a grandson on Juno Beach calling his grandfather? Grandfather asks 'Are the Paris girls are as pretty as I remember'; grandson responds, 'I'm not in Paris, I'm on Juno beach. I called to say thank you'. I thought it was a History minute video from historica, but I couldn't find it on that site. Any of you know where it can be located on the Net?
  11. What is her salary? Where is she listed as staff? Harper would never have stood for this from Chretien or Martin. Never, ever. This is a joke. The guy is the face of our Nation on the international scene. You want him winging it on his own?
