Harper's Missile Mindlessness Would Waste Billions
tml12 replied to River_God's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No but we'll have to leave the table, as usual, when the U.S. talks about how to defend us. I wonder how long that will last... -
Harper's Missile Mindlessness Would Waste Billions
tml12 replied to River_God's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
FYI: The Martin Liberals were strong advocates of missile defence. I should add, before they wanted to win the election. It is good to know the Liberals are the party of integrity and honesty... -
Stephen Harper Wants to break up Canada
tml12 replied to River_God's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
FEDERALISM IS AT THE LOWEST LEVEL IT HAS BEEN IN YEARS. WHY? Quebecers were ripped off by the Liberals. The West has been neglected by the Liberals. If you don't believe it is time for fresh blood in Ottawa, you are a fool. "Why was Harper dumbstruck a few weeks ago when asked if he loved Canada?" Because the randomness of the question surprised him. "How long would it have taken Harper to profess his love for the USA?" He wants to have better relations with the U.S. They are our best friends and trading partner. No more Liberal lies and scandal and hatred. -
I would respect the anti-CPC crowd if they came up with new criticism... If "undying love for USA" means better relations with our best friends and trading partners then you must be miserable you have all the material benefits of living next to the U.S.

Paul Martin doesn't deserve this...
tml12 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Agreed. -
I am not crazy about cutting the GST. But the CPC is still the best party when you add all the issues up. Elections should never be decided on ONE issue.

Why we must prevent Harper from becoming PM
tml12 replied to emailforcanada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Check This Out: -->Martin says Harper can't say whether he loves Canada In reality Harper was taken aback by such a random question. Martin flies the flags of other countries on his ships not to pay Canadian taxes his Liberal Party is responsible for. I guess he doesn't trust the Liberal government with his money (right on Martin, neither do I!!!) -->Liberal TV ads say Harper supported the Iraq war. So did Martin!!! -->The Liberal Party says they are responsible for social programs and health care that is universal. Responsible for dismantling them that is. Martin and Chretien did their best to destroy universal health care and social programs in 1995. -->Martin says only the Liberals can protect federalism. The West is alienated, Quebec is alienated, Ontario doesn't care, etc. Why would I trust Harper on federalism??? The list goes on and on and on and on and on and on... -
BE GRATEFUL YOU LIVE IN CANADA. IT'S A GREAT COUNTRY
tml12 replied to River_God's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This and all the rest is wonderful and convincing, but the OP has overlooked an important detail. 12 year olds cannot vote in Canada. Then why do the Liberals keep getting in??? -
BE GRATEFUL YOU LIVE IN CANADA. IT'S A GREAT COUNTRY
tml12 replied to River_God's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't think Harper believes that sincerely. He has a Western base that would NEVER accept that. The federal Liberals have done much of that. -
That would be the greatest thing to ever happen to this country...

Betsy, You are most entitled to your anger. I am voting Conservative because I think we need to re-evaluate federalism, get tough on crime, and bring back community values for the common good in our society. The entire Liberal Party is not corrupt and maybe Martin isn't either. But the facts are, Chretien was one of the most corrupt prime ministers in Canadian history. His true dream was to become a dictator and a benevolent dictator he was. But scandals come to light. Chretien probably knew they would, after all he oversaw all the scandal in his government (as Justice Gomery correctly noted in his investigation of the biggest scandal) but he didn't care. After all, it would only hurt Martin, whom he hates anyway. When Martin balanced the budget in 1995, Chretien realized he had so much money and much more coming in. So he used our money to, among other things, buy the 1997 election, buy the 1995 referendum election, and give money to his cronies. The culture of entitlement that is present in the federal Liberals is mushrooming out of control. I am inclined to believe Martin may have wanted to do something about it. Yet, he can't. The party is so used to being number one. So used to using our money for their selfish purposes while cutting healthcare and social programs and preaching hatred for the Americans and the west and hurting our armed forces who defend our sovereignty, that they cannot just not be corrupt anymore. Gilles Duceppe put it best when he said "the ballot box is our weapon." Yes it is, and I am voting Conservative.

The Conservative Party is the most communitarian and populist of the big 4. The Liberals are the party of big corporate libertarians.
-
The Conservatives support a renewed take on federalism, which, as we currently see, sucks. I support a strong government with social programs. Paul Martin does not and while Harper doesn't either, he offers a renewed relationship with the provinces and he, unlike Martin's crony Liberals, doesn't lie about it either... I want to see Harper win because I want to give him the chance to improve our great country.

River_God's Quotes: "I don't know anybody who is anti-American, but neo-con fanatics want us to think that it's anti-American to say anything bad about any member of their government." Just not so River. The CPC wants open diplomacy with the Americans. We want to sit down and talk about the issues that matter to us as North Americans. The Liberals pursue a Grade 2 policy of insulting the Americans with their lies and myths. Martin has, so far, been very undiplomatic by trying to score cheap political points by bashing Bush...a leader who Martin adored when he had a majority. "Look at all the politician bashing on this forum. By that definition, everybody here is anti-Canadian." That's if you believe the Liberal myth that Canadians are "nicer" than any other people in the world, especially the nasty Americans. I have travelled to many Canadian and American cities and found the people to not be too much different. Of course, the Liberals would probably blame the immigrants in major cities, whose votes they take for granted. "The fact that people are standing up to political decisions shows that they have faith that their countries can become better." Yes...that is why I am voting Conservative. "You are right though that people should be providing creative solutions to problems, instead of just mud-slinging. The worst thing to do is to take a fanatical-reactionary approach where you end up throwing out the baby with the bath water." That is a perfect description of what the Liberals are doing with the Americans to score cheap political points. Can you imagine how bad relations would be if the Liberals got in again? After living under a decade of Chretien hatred for the Americans I was happy when Martin was PM. But what a real disappointment he has been... A few years ago I met Jack Layton at a Montreal bar. Since he is left-wing, I asked him how he would work with a Bush presidency. He told me "we have many friends there in Congress that we would work with. I would try to find issues we agree on, and we would work together to respect our differences" or something to that effect. At least Layton's party is respectable.

While I am sure the left has already spilled their morning coffee with my prediction, I think of THE BIG THREE (Liberal, Conservative, NDP), the Conservatives will do the most for the environment without hurting our economy. The Liberals, in their state of hyposcrisy, lies, and corruption, signed Kyoto and allowed our greenhouse gases to go up 24% since then (source: Montreal Gazette) including 12% more than the evil environment-hating Americans. The NDP probably has the most environmentally-friendly plan, yet I am not sure they take into consideration the economy. The Conservative plan (found at conservative.ca) takes both into consideration. I think the Conservatives and NDP can work with this in a Conservative minority government.

Conservatives true colours start to shine through...
tml12 replied to Rovik's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Last night I was watching CBC and during their advertisements for "The National" they showed two shots of Layton and Martin and only one of Harper. Plus they had commercials about "average" Canadians taking on "evil" corporations. No, they don't have a hidden agenda there. -
In the past day you've called the Liberals both Facists and Communists. These parties have diametrically opposing viewpoints. This clearly demonstrates your knowledge of politics.... If I did (which I dont remember doing) it was because both of those types of government rely on one party rule, much like the Liberals.
-
They quit and left him because of a mole ???? I thought it was because Harper was a <series of derrogatory words omitted, but rest assured, the last word was a piece of human anatomy> The Liberals are evil...err you are an NDP voter...sure you cannot put this past them???
-
Yes I do...at the time I supported them (as did the Martin Liberals). But now, I would not because the the West would want more, so now I support the Tory position. Why? Because look at Canadian federalism after 12 years of Liberal government. It's much better, right?
-
betsy I am not insulting your intelligence, just stating other facts... We are on the same side here!!!

If this election is decided on SSM (which Martin personally opposes, it will shows just how backwards a civilization Canada is).
