That sounds like Mulroney appeasement all over again. That sounds like the Liberals (especially that cajoling jerk Chretien) to me... No way a Harper majority governs like this...
-
Too many Canadians (especially voters from the far left in Vancouver, Ontario, and the Maritimes) live the Canadian lie of anti-Americansim. In reality, we are very much like the Americans, we are just "embarassed" of this because the world hates the Americans. Oh Canada, the U.S. stands on guard for thee and we are so ungrateful...
-
Proof of this BM? You are merely restating the left's position. This should clear that up for you. http://www.counterpunch.org/vallette03222005.html Hey, Yeah I just read that and... http://www.counterpunch.org/aboutus.html ...I just read this. Another left-wing website dedicated to anti-right propaganda. I did not support the Iraq War and I am still voting Conservative. The Martin Liberals (and secretly the Chretien Liberals) supported Iraq. What's the point???
-
Who do you plan to vote for in the next election ?

I voted Conservative here and I will on Jan. 23. BTW I saw a Liberal ad on TV tonight. They claimed Harper would have gone to Iraq. No kidding...so would Martin!!! The Liberals are just digging their own hole... -
You make many good points here.
-
That is a very good way, by that Liberal MP, of saying: "We went in without going in."
-
You know, August, there is a lot to what you are saying. I have suspected it too. Chretien is a free man (sadly) and he is probably hoping for a Conservative minority so Martin could get dumped quickly. I don't dislike Martin. He is either very ignorant or too self-assured. Regardless, the Liberals need to go. Sadly, Martin will have to pay the price for one of his idiocies.
-
I was not an Iraqi war supporter. However, now that the troops are there we must hope for the best. Harper and Martin, the two realistic people to next become our PM, were Iraqi war sponsors, as was PM Chretien. Chretien had interests in Iraqi oil as Montgomery Burns has factually reported in the past. He also had a great hatred for the U.S. and Western Canada, especially Alberta. His prime ministerial life was ending soon too. Thus, Chretien officially did not support the war. Yet, Canadian troops got sent there anyway. When the U.S. went in, Chretien knew Saddam oil was gone for sure. Thus, I am sure he wanted to be sure he would have a stake in Iraqi oil. His great PR job made sure Liberal Party communists like Carolyn Parrish shut up.

That was a good post River. However, for all those reasons I am voting Conservative. Stealing my money does not justify any good things the Liberals have done (of which there are some). The Liberal Party of Canada does one thing very well: the PR job. They make us feel proud to be Canadian. Their problem is they really don't do anything for Canada. The government laws that guarantee civil rights are also in the U.S. The Liberal Party did not create those laws. The Liberal Party has done nothing for the environment or peace-keeping. I am very happy to have a decent life living here in Canada. We take a lot of materialistic benefits from the U.S. The U.S. protects us and ask for nothing but gratitude in return. We may be able to travel anywhere in the world (unlike, technically, the Americans) but the Americans are the ones who have the guts to govern the world in the name of freedom and equality. Canadians travel to Europe and say we're so much different than Americans. But Europeans don't see us as much different. We many strive to be like them...but we are much more American. The U.S., after all, is our big brother. Personal responsibility is the major issue in the Conservative platform. We need a Conservative government to ensure that we stand on an equal footing with the great nations of the world. We need to stand up for Canada and respect the benefits that we have. A vote for the Liberal Party is a vote for corruption and an inability to stand up for our country.

Pffftt.. Argus is a lightweight whose main debating points are "Your stoopid." And you merely restate the left-wing position.

Paul Martin doesn't deserve this...

Clean up government. -
Dirty sponsorship money was used by the Chretien government in 1997 here in Quebec to ensure a Liberal majority government. What is unknown is: 1) What ridings they were used in. 2) How many ridings Chretien authorized their use in. 3) Whether Martin knew or not. The vote was tainted.
-
The notion that Harper is somehow not patriotic and does not love Canada has no support behind it, and the suggestion is nothing more than evidence of the intellectual and moral bankruptcy on you and the others of your ilk whose politics revolves around hate and intollerance. You got it Argus...you are on fire!!!

All Martin did for 8 years was shift the debt to the Provinces rather than do real work like cut costs, eliminate waste and streamline governement............not too creative imo. LMAO Trudeau you must mean. Grantec Mulrooney was a buffoon too. We need Harper to clean up government... -
That's what I was basing my post on. But he won the election fair and square since the illegal invasion, so I guess he has every right to stay in power. Just like Bush. How was the invasion illegal (N.B. I didn't support it initially but we must support the American and British troops, as well as the Canadian troops we "didn't" send there)
-
We know Chretien bought the 1997 election with dirty sponsorship money.

Harper looking good; Martin looking frazzled

New corruption scandals break out every day. The LPC has fixed supposedly democratic elections with my tax dollars. Canada's health care system and social programs are falling apart. Our greenhouse gas emissions have gone up twelve percent more than the evil gun-toting American state. And speaking of guns, TO teenagers have access to AK 47s and their bullets that the $1 billion Liberal underestimate gun registry was supposed to prevent. Yeah everything is going extremely well... Oh sorry you said looking at the deficit and employment numbers. The jobless rate is up (Source: http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national...296edb&k=57103), while the economy is OK. The deficit won't be balanced for long because Martin is spending like an alcoholic. -
Rigid one party government? Sounds like the LPC to me.,
-
Right-leaning folks get banned from DU all the time...you know, the "democratic" underground... Your Above Post Indicates: 1) You have never studied political science. 2) You do not care that the Liberals have purchased victories in supposedly democratic elections with your tax dollars. 3) You would much rather have a party in power that tells you everything is OK while secretly taring apart Canada's social structure and environment. 4) You will probably vote Liberal and, if they win, get what you deserve.

LMAO Very well... -
Harper is centre-right. HAhahahahahahahaha. If he is centre right why did he co-found a little ultra-right-wing party called The Reform Party? Why was he a speaker at a far right conservative conference for what even americans feel is an Extreme right wing group of individuals? He was more right-wing AS HEAD OF A LOBBYIST GROUP. Oh come on guys, do you really hate him that much? Harper is a moderate right-leaning conservative. Calling him "far right" and "fascist" is silly.
-
Go look at the definition of Fascism. A Fascist state is, simply put, a militaristic state. Now why don't you actually debate the issues instead of all this extremist name calling?
-
Harper is centre-right.
