So I ask, what is or defines a Canadian?
Signals.Cpl replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canada should adopt policies like those of the United States and tax Canadians living overseas. It is ridiculous having Canadians of convenience living abroad for most of their adult working lives never paying taxes to Canada and expect Canada to spend tax dollars to evacuate them when things get bad. A nation that gives its citizens a lot of rights but does not place responsibilities will find it hard to survive in the long term. A nation that gives its citizen little or no rights but does place a lot of responsibilities will find it hard to survive in the long term. We need a middle ground where citizenship gives you certain rights but at the same time requires something in return. -
If it is beyond speculation why is there an investigation? Why not just publish the damning evidence and be done with it. You are biased just as much as I am except you don't want to admit that you hate the conservatives not because they did anything wrong but because they are conservatives.
-
I am presenting plausible alternatives. Accusing the Conservatives of a crime and then moulding the "evidence" to support your view point. There are plenty of examples in western society when police/investigators pick a "guilty" party and then pick and choose evidence to support their case while discarding evidence that disproves them.

There was no proof whatsoever that the teacher made the kid do anything, what the teacher did was inform him for future reference that you should not throw away food. I love your view of justice, Guilty until proven innocent and then ignore the investigation and continue to insist the innocent party is guilty. Your interest might be justice, but your understanding of the subject is non-existent.

Obama supports gay marriage
Signals.Cpl replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
What he did at age 18 is bad enough, what he did at age 65 to turn it in to a joke is worse. When it was brought up he should have apologized and used it as an opportunity to show growth as a human being over the last 47 years. How many kids have committed suicide because of bullying? -

So you hassled gay kids when you were 18? Stupid things do not in my mind include assault harassment. It's gay bashing plain and simple, I don't care what religion you subscribe to sexual preference is a personal thing. A homosexual person deserves the same rights to happiness as the rest of us I may not agree with or like their choice and I have the right to respectfully voice those opinions but no one has the right to prevent people from being openly happy. -

I understand, but the American markets provide Canadian businesses with things that few other nations can provide. -distance -no language barrier -friendly markets -similar standards and requirements How many business would abandon the lucrative American markets in favour for markets that in most cases are in no way better then the American markets and in fact could be worse?

I was in the Army, I never went to Afghanistan yet I was and still am a soldier. He was a member of a known terrorist organization might or might not have committed an act of terrorism yet he was and is a terrorist. -
In the 1970's Ottawa attempted to break in to the European and Japanese markets which ultimately failed to yield desired results.
-
They spread in to other markets if they pave the way for the business community.
-
Thats a big IF. The government already tried to spread in to other markets and discovered that its better to stick with the Americans.

A lot of the imports support the domestic economy, the second the exports dry up we won't be able to support the imports needed to support the economy
-
And if the US economy collapses tomorrow our domestic market can support us?

Some people forfeit the right to life that Includes the Senior leadership of Nazi germany and the SS, as well as many SS guards who were especially cruel to their prisoners. The Hutu extremists who planned and executed the massacres, as well as the multitude of officers and soldiers who committed atrocities in the Balkans amongst others. I believe the US soldier who murdered the Afghan civilians gave up the right to life when he took it away from innocent children regardless of his experiences. I believe in the death penalty for a number of US soldiers serving in Iraq who committed atrocities against civilians just as I believe in the death penalty for any Canadian soldiers should they commit atrocities against civilians. Being a member of a terrorist organization and attacking soldiers is a terrorist attack. -
The liberals knew they were loosing badly, so this might have been a strategy to paint the government as illegitimate and in a way force an election through public outrage during a more favourable time for them. Or it could have been the NDP for pretty much the same reason, they knew they would not get to form the government even a minority one and thus they decided to cast doubt about the governments legitimacy for use at a future date more favourable to the NDP. Or it could have been a business group that deemed the Conservative policies more favourable...

I am not suggesting to kill an innocent person, I am suggesting rid the world of terrorist. Just like I support execution for the Rwanda Genocide perpetrators or the perpetrators of the Holocaust or anyone who does not value human life. -
