And you don't know anything you are talking about, maybe you should learn a fact or two before you argue. http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/news-nouvelles/news-nouvelles-eng.asp?id=3792
-
Regular force, Reserve force, Rangers amount to 99,758 Canadian Forces Members, I am sorry I rounder up.
-
Seems to me that this argument is useless, as the NDP is just as ethically challenged if not more so then the conservatives, the only difference is that they pretend to be above it all. The NDP is willing to send 100,000 Canadian Forces members to our deaths in order to score a few political points by twisting their actions to suit their current propaganda campaign to discredit the only government in the Developed world who has managed to hold the economy together. The NDP supporters are complete hypocrites with their ability to justify being angry about one project while happy about the other when they use the exact same principles to calculate the cost.

Salary costs increase when the aircraft and support personnel are deployed to dangerous war zone. Aircraft use increases so does wear and tear. I am pretty sure that the DND will be paying my salary from their budget when I deployed, including danger pay and all other associated costs like food, shelter and the supplies I need to do my job. The salaries of the troops in Afghanistan were paid by the DND budget not by extra government funds, maintenance of the damaged equipment was taken out of the budget for the DND.

Two bears walk in to a forest: First bear: Lets beat up the rabbit over there. Second Bear: We cant just beat him up for no reason. First Bear: Well he is not wearing a hat thats a reason Second Bear: Ok. So they beat up the rabbit and then tell him why they beat him up and leave. One week later both bears walk back in to the same forest: First bear: Lets beat up the rabbit over there. Second Bear: We cant just beat him up for no reason. First Bear: Well he is wearing a hat thats a reason Second Bear: Ok. So they beat up the rabbit and then tell him why they beat him up and then leave. When the NDP want to attack the Conservatives the above is pretty much the guideline: If the conservatives are doing xyz attack them for doing xyz, if the Conservatives are not doing xyz then attack them for not doing xyz.
-
The DND as well makes just estimates, the Military cannot predict where the government will deploy the CF nor can it predict how many if any of the aircraft will be in service in 20 years. If you want the true cost, its 14billion if you want an estimate its 25 billion.

That does not explain where your anger is about the accounting for the ships? We have come to the conclusion that the 11 billion dollars is irrelevant since those same requirements the NDP feels no need to put in the NSPS. All I have to say is, if the Conservatives were to come out and say that the projects upgrades and maintenance would be given to a Quebec company we would not have this problem as the NDP will quickly give up in order not to alienate their base of support in Quebec.
-
So whats stoping you from going back and asking about it? This is a non issue and I hope that the Canadian public see through this publicity stunt.
-
Not quite that simple, you cannot support the ships, and keep quiet about them and then cry when the F-35 used the same accounting. Deep down you know why the NDP was happy with the deal for the ships, because it brought jobs to their ridings so Mr. Layton did not want to lodge a complaint, while now there is not so much as stake for NDP ridings and you can twist the truth all you want as a cheap way to gather attention and an attempt to smear the conservatives for doing exactly what you approved of 2 years before. This just shows me that the NDP cannot be satisfied, if the Conservatives had stated the full price you would have found a whole new thing to be angry about. Its time to face the truth, the NDP is not the ruling party and it likely will not get a chance to be the ruling party for a few more years, in the mean time look at whats better for Canada.
-
You still find nothing wrong that the Conservatives used the same accounting for the ships though. Seems to me the double standard is coming out more and more. As I've said before, You can't have it both ways, be happy with the ships and the fact that salary and operating costs were not included, and be angry with the F-35's because salary and operating costs were not included.
-
Then how do you explain the NDP double standard? For the Ships its OK to use the old accounting practice while for the F-35's we MUST use the new accounting practices. You say the conservatives lied, what they did was give you the exact same accounting formula that was used to buy the ships then you were satisfied with it, now you are not.

1) I doubt that we will be building this aircraft in Canada, if you have a information about this that I haven't seen share and I will withdraw my statement. 2) What kind of military industrial complex? Building LAV's? Or the C-7s? just because we can build one thing does not necessarily mean we should attempt to build the other. Building 65 F-35's in Canada is not economical at all. 3)Changing OUR political environment as in Canada or the world?
-
If Canada had the means to design and build the fighters while still making them affordable sure but since we don't and we need new fighters we have to go to other countries.
-
Because Canada cannot design and build a sophisticated aircraft like the F-35 and make it affordable.
-
You are such a comedian, are you going to be here all week?
-
Grasping at straws?
-
Flip flop, no matter how you justify this the NDP cannot stand its ground. Its one thing when you accuse the conservatives of doing something wrong, its a whole other issue when you are actively supporting them doing the exact same thing for a different project. Simple as that can't pick and choose what or where this policy applies, if you want it to apply to the F-35 it should apply for the RCN and the CG ships as well.
-
What I am stating is that it is irrelevant what Harper did because the NDP is happy with one purchase without accounting for salary and operating costs and not happy with the other. The NDP could have brought this forth during the election informed the public that the conservatives were not salary and operation costs. If the NDP is inconsistent with their policy considering that one of the purchases happened while the conservatives were a minority they lose the moral high ground. You can't complain and support the same policy at the exact same time, you either inform the public about all such problems and run the risk of losing support in the ridings that are affected or don't complain at all. The conservatives were just doing what every government has done on a regular basis since at least the 50's purchase equipment and use the same accounting principles. You are trying to justify the complaint about Harper by stating he lied about the 11 billion dollars for the F-35's while being silent on the potentially 40billion or more in the RCN and CG ships.
-
Yeah, flip flop.
-
NDP was happy to NOT count the salary and operating cost for the CG and RCN ships. NDP is complaining that the government is NOT counting the salaries and operating costs of the F-35. Love your ethics
-
So what you are saying is that the NDP has no ethics and when it suits them they will agree to anything and when confrontation will bring them more exposure they will ignore what is needed by Canada and play politics. Thank You for the explanation.
-
mystery speak? Read the rest of my comment before you edit to fit your bias
-
Yet the NDP does not put forth a complaint about the costs of the ships. Seems to me that NDP supporters go after the F-35's and claim the Conservatives lied about the cost yet they don't complain about the ships when the Conservatives used the same accounting policy with them. When the NDP launch a complaint about the NSPS then we can talk about my argument failing.
-
Thats my point, if we are to do the accounting for the F-35s one way then the new ships should be counted the same. Problem is when the Canadian public sees the figure for the ships rise from 33billion to 70billion or 80 billion there would be an outcry and that is why the NDP is quiet about this, the NDP support in those provinces will drop because if the ships are cancelled the shipyards lose work and whoever forced the issue is out a number of votes.
-
You are guessing right.
