They played well. USA is also a good team and Connor Hellebuyck has won multiple Vezinas. He was the best player on the ice. Getting hope from a win in hockey would not have done much for us.

Be sure to tune in to TPUSA halftime show
CouchPotato replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Once again, there have been all kinds of brown people performing at the Superbowl in the past. I understand you want to make it all about race, but that just doesn't fly. MAGA did not put on another half time show. TPUSA did. And it was pretty successful for them. What is wrong with that? If leftists did not like the performer there would be some kind of protest or riot. -

The otherness? It doesn't bother me. I am not even a football fan. But the choice of Bad Bunny does seem kind of stupid. This was the Superbowl. You get that right? It wouldn't be the venue for opera either. There is a certain target audience here right. And I sure some of them liked Bad Bunny. But a good portion of that audience would prefer it in English. -

I think that's actually a pretty admirable way to deal with it if you don't like the performer. They came up with their own halftime show and did pretty well out of it. When leftists don't like something, they do things like what we saw up here in Canada when that singer was cancelled at multiple venues all across the country. And when a church agreed to let him sing there, it got fined and smokebombed. Now that's petty. I'm interested in why you think that performance was too cerebral. -

I think it's a metaphor for something. I just don't know what. As @herbie says, it may be too cerebral for us. -

There have been tons of Superbowl performers of color before. This guy didn't even perform in English. -

I hope they have Albanian folk dancers next year. -
Cats seem to have all kinds of quirks and routines. My cat will sit in certain places at certain times of day. They are eccentrics.

I think Dave Roberts did a really good job this series. Kept his cool. Never looked panicked once. Schneider made more adjustments while playing with a lead or a tie than Roberts did playing from behind. Jays scored in bunches at times, but Dodgers found ways to win the closer ones. I think some of the Dodgers players were a little off this series while some of the Jays were playing a bit hotter, but they still managed to win it. Dodgers were clearly the team with more experience. No bold moves. No heroics. Just stuck to the game plan. Schneider put in a pinch runner for Bo in the ninth to try to get the win before extra innings. Second time in the series that he sacrificed a good batter to win now. But Roberts was completely comfortable going into to extra innings and taking as long as it took to score. Love that Jays team though. So many fun characters.

It's funny, too, because he will praise a leader graciously while also slamming every policy they believe in. Trump is really good at this. People who don't like him only see a bozo... and he can be. I don't think he is a genius playing 5 day chess or anything, but the guy has some incredible strengths and people who see him as an enemy refuse to give him any credit for it.

This was pointed out to Trump before Carney even won the election in an interview on Fox News. Trump was pressed about how his words made the Liberal candidate more popular, and he said, "I'd rather deal with a Liberal." And so far it's working out pretty well for him. Carney is weak. Do you remember how just a few days before the election the media started finally reporting on the leaks about Carney's phone call with Trump? It was reported that he told the President he would have to talk tough about Trump for the election campaign but he looked forward to working with him. Now I am not going to say Carney likes or agrees with Trump, but he definitely played up how Trump wants to break us to his own advantage and promised to be tough and stand up to him. But he just isn't that tough. And I don't think he's got enough guile to fool Trump the way he fooled voters.

Leftist Violence In Portland....Again
CouchPotato replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
How do we know this is even leftists and not far right Portlanders? -
See now you can go on X and find liberal voters posting this exact same video or one's just like it. The difference is their take on it. It will be something like... "Look at Carney's poise. The dignified way he delivers his message. PP the paperboy would never be able to say something so profound with such eloquence. I am so glad I voted for Carney."

Woody Allen is also a capable musician. He had his own dixieland band. He plays clarinet. There are clarinets in "When I'm Sixty-Four" which was a McCartney Beatles tune. The Beatles had a manager named Brian Epstein. Woody Allen seems like he would have gotten on well with Jeffrey Epstein.
