  1. To me, Pierre has always come across as a perfectly nice guy as well. He is not introverted either. A lot of it is spin. The media says he is angry, and people believe it. The media says Trudeau has sunny ways, and people believe it. I mean part of that reason Pierre was always attacking Trudeau and the Liberals is because he is the opposition leader. If you watch parliament, Pierre never seemed angry when doing so. In fact, most of them time he would be calm or even smiling while criticizing the Liberals. Trudeau would actually get visibly angry and flustered with Pierre. But the narrative is always that Pierre is angry. A lot of people don't watch parliament so they don't know otherwise. We prefer the term everypeople persona. Pierre grew up in an everypeople family. He draws tons of everypeople to his rallies and he takes time to engage with them personally. Carney is the guy who locked out fishermen.
  2. One thing I will give Doug Ford is when it comes to projecting that friendly guy image he is really good at it. I could see him hugging and kissing all the grandmas on the campaign trail. And it's kind of authentic because I am sure that even if he wasn't a politician he would still hug and kiss your grandma. Also there is the fact that he looks like a giant teddy bear. So your grandma probably wants to hug him back.
  3. I never watched that show. I might have seen some of the early episodes. I'm not a huge fan of that song, but it really does sound modern for it's time.
  4. There really should be a new gov't agency to oversee this and enforce these rules. Then those poor college students wouldn't have to resort to knocking over TPUSA's table and tearing down their little pavilion. I mean this is what happens when you don't have a well-armed debate police force. You get debate vigilantism.
  5. It was not their first endeavor in psychedelic music. Revolver came out before Sgt. Pepper. John and George had taken LSD as early as 1965.
  6. I wonder what he pictures when he says Kirk and his goons. Does Charlie Kirk have a bunch of Italians in suits standing nearby? Hey Kid. Nice backpack you got there. Real nice. Be an awful shame if someone was to pump it full o'lead.
  7. John Lennon said that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was not about LSD, but rather a picture drawn by his son Julian. When John asked him what this picture was called, Julian replied, "Lucy in the sky with diamonds."
  8. Oh, I hadn't heard that. I am keeping an eye on the score in the Columbus game tonight because I am Habs fan. Though even if they make it in the playoffs, I am sure they will be out in 4 games.
  9. Didn't Carney say he would use emergency powers for energy projects. Didn't the Liberal party already use emergency powers against the bouncy castle crowd? But violent criminals... that's a bridge too far.
  10. Habs season finale tomorrow night, and they might have to win to ensure they get into the playoffs. That could have an effect on debate viewership. If Columbus loses tonight against Philly that means the Habs are in and tomorrow night's game is less important.
  11. The thing is, people have seen the legacy media report things that were provably untrue. To some extent that is ok, because of course media can make mistakes. But there so many cases over the past decade or so where it seems obvious to people that these were not just mistakes. In order to advance a certain narrative they had to edit things a certain way or omit reporting on relevant facts that any qualified journalist would normally do. Cases where the most logical assumption is that the media is willfully being dishonest. This was easily observable during the Freedom Convoy because the media would be reporting on something awful that was happening, while at the same time tons of people right there were live streaming that exact thing. Now independent media is usually very biased. But they generally make no secret about that. People have seen them report on things that the regular media would not or report on certain stories more truthfully than the legacy media. They have seen them report things they know are true. In many cases those are things people in the legacy media are ignoring or being untruthful about. That is why more and more people are turning to independent media sources.
  12. I dunno. He has raised some really important issues. Like why don't the Americans call themselves United Statesians? I mean here we are arguing about the economy and crime and tariffs. He is focused on the important stuff. And he is a world class activist to boot.
  13. Right. She might be. I don't know her. So? How is that relevant?
  14. I was just going to say that.
  15. So? What does that have to do with the topic at hand. She deserves it? CdnFox provided a much better counter-response. Yeah, I understand that. That's why I posted 'she says'. I know there are a lot of facts missing, but it's certainly a story worth paying attention to.
  16. I wonder if they spent campaign funds on those.
  17. Just hearing about this today. PPC Candidate Meghan Murphy says her bank account was frozen by the Canadian gov't. https://www.meghanmurphy.ca/p/just-when-i-thought-the-canadian
  18. Absolutely, and I think Pierre has actually been very relatable. He isn't as reserved as Harper. In Pierre's case it's more that he has to combat the media narrative that he is angry. I've watched a lot of parliament over the last few years. Even when he was attacking Trudeau relentlessly he never seemed angry. He is usually laughing. Trudeau was usually the one who would start losing it. He was really good at getting under Justin's skin. The only person I have ever seen on MSM who was able to give credit to Pierre for this is Tom Mulcair, who was also pretty good at roasting Trudeau.
  19. And you base this on....? He seems like a really nice guy to me. I liked him well before he became party leader. Actually I think a lot of politicians, even ones I dislike a lot, are probably pretty likeable people outside of politics. I think a lot of people prefer not to do this kind of thing because it feels phony to put your kodak moments on display.
  20. Yeah, I don't think the conservatives have really grasped how important this stuff is. Personally, I don't really care that much. I really like Pierre. I really liked Harper. I don't have to see their families. I don't have to see them hugging a cat or working at the McDonald's drivethru. I did polling back in 2009 when Harper sang that Beatles song. Right after that the calls got a lot more positive. Especially with elderly ladies. You'd hear them say things like, "I never thought much of him before, but it was so nice to see him play the piano and sing. I like him now." And I would just be sitting there thinking, "Wait that's what you like? That's what you vote for?"
  21. His campaign manager has been outspoken against Pierre. Slammed him for blowing the lead they had over the Liberals, though it was probably more that the other parties lost support. A lot of people are thinking he wants Pierre to crash and burn so he can become the leader of the party.
