  1. in most cases, online forum posters use the words, "Nazi" or "commie" to describe anyone that disagrees with them. Most use those two words interchangeably along with fascist. Been doing the forum game since 2008 and have since became numb to the use of those words.
  2. If the story sucks.. well then I stop watching it. For example, I find the current run of Marvel movies to be snooze-fests. As for food.. you simply stop going to the restaurant or write a negative review. There is a mexican restaurant .1 miles from my house and we gave it one chance.. that was enough. I eat Mexican at home often and can make things like tamales, pozole, chile relleno, and pupusas easily. This place... pretty bland stuff and so I decided i would rather make it myself or go somewhere else.
  3. 1. I come at from the viewpoint of creative control. If I was a content creator (author, musician, filmmaker, playwright, etc), I would like to think that I can say whatever I want. Now, if I will have an audience or not.. that is for society to decide. If I want to be woke then so be it. Plenty of other options out there.. whether you believe it or not. Again.. for example i do not like rap/hip-hop. If I listen to an artist and I pick up on them having electronic/hip-hop elements.. I quit listening. It is about being a true first amendment advocate not just for those forms of expression that I approve of.
  4. I have stated it 3 times... if you do not like my answer then move on.
  5. Not sure how much more clear I can be... I think that you keep rehashing this because I will not tell you what you want to hear or give you much needed affirmation. I am ok with folks being racist (overtly or not) when it comes to art because 1. I have the option to not consume it 2. Do not need such art and 3. art is subjective. Restaurants do not fit those three items listed above.
  6. You can read it into as much as you want, make assumptions, and such but I said what I said. If the story is good.. the racial composition of the cast is unimportant. Much like a restaurant.. if the chef/cook is white, black, mexican, vietnamese means nothing. If the food tastes good then that is what i want to know.
  7. In the case of art, I would agree that folks can be as racist as they want. The key word is "art" therefore a good that I do not need and have an almost infinite amount of alternatives. A restaurant.. not quite the same. Awhile ago.. there was a restaurant in Boise and come to find out the owner was not too pleased that the majority of his clientele was LGTBQ. Word got out and the place became a ghost town and it closed six months later and the gentleman has since moved away. That is the market working at its finest.
  8. Yes it is. I think that you have a problem with folks not agreeing with you. When Disney cast a black woman in the little mermaid.. you were probably upset and it really bothers you that it was not a flop. It could have done better but it was not a complete bomb either. I watched it and thought it was meh! but it is up to studio to produce it and take the risk that it will not be a success.
  9. that is a bit of an overreach on your part. Having black actors get 25% of the roles (an increase from 10%) is hardly cause for chicken little, the sky is falling. The numbers are just for example. As for the market deciding it? Why not. Movies and their success have always been dictated by the market so why change now? To legislate how movies, music, books, etc. are made takes away their very essence.. creative control. Whoever produces the item should be free to control how it is made and therefore free to suffer the consequences if society rejects it (Black Adam, The 13th Warrior, The great raid).
  10. Nothing in my post says approval or disapproval. I could say 3^4 = 81 and you would respond with some garbage about how I have a vendetta against the number 5. I simply do not have an issue with it because I have the option to not watch/read/consumer it. If I had no choice then the story changes.
  11. It is up to the audience to decide how great or not-so-great it is to have black actors in a given movie. Not sure how else I can say this rather simple idea. I do not like rap/hip-hop music so guess what? I do not listen to it nor do I purchase the content. If society does not like the "wokeness".. they can choose to not consume it.
  12. Cleaning in a room is not the same as that repetitive motion factory job where you never move your feet and execute the same motions over and over again.
  13. I am saying that the studios have the choice whom to hire/cast and you have the choice to not consume it. Again... this is pretty simple stuff. they could be better actors or not.. that is up to the studio and the audience.
  14. this is hardly proof of anything. If I was driving somewhere and encountered protesters.. would simply take another way.
  15. the very few "woke" things that have popped up at my kids school do not bother me. What annoys me is the focus on testing and how data driven their curriculum. As a parent, I focus on how it is done. Getting to the end result is cool but in most things, it matters how you got to that result. Second, with even the slightest raise of a kids voice, the teachers come running and go into threat assessment mode. They are not allowed to just be kids
  16. so you did not answer.. do you have the choice to not watch it? It does not bother me to have characters in a tv show or movie be black when maybe in the book or in previous iterations, they were white. Its about the story and how well they execute it for me.. the packaging does not mean much.
  17. In the case of media (TV, video games, music).. do you have a choice whether to watch/read/listen to it or not? Lets keep it to narrowed down to that at first.
  18. Yeah.. from reading some on the issue.. it appears that the OP is exaggerating a bit. Most Israelis support the war.
  19. It is my interpretation of your (and others) rejection of wokeness that you think that you can eradicate it from society altogether. My point is that if you have the first amendment and the internet, that is impossible. To get rid of it.. you would have to "unring the bell" meaning revert back to a time when the internet did not exist. as for pushing back, feel free. Above all, I am a free speech advocate. The woke and the anti-woke should be free to express their views. as for my views.. I think folks take it a bit far. I have no issues with blacks being in commercials more often now than in the past and such. However, reparations... just cant take that idea seriously.
  20. I do not read your posts most of the time including the one that you mention. So no, there is no connection between your aforementioned post and mine. Is that clear enough?
  21. Yes, when I make a post.. I have a distinct focus. If you have nothing to add on to this chosen focal point.. then do not respond. Its not that complex.
  22. I am talking about society in general.. you knew this. And yet when you move the goal posts, I am supposed to follow you. Not happening. If you can't stay on topic.. do not respond to me. Its pretty easy.. give it a try.
  23. You keep responding... I know why. Second, you assumed that I was in agreeance with them. Assumptions are for the lazy. Well.. your secret is out. Your posts rely on assumptions and if someone points them out, you start with the name-calling and such. Because surely if someone is not you.. they fit your narrowly defined boxes. Now.. where is your usual line about CNN.
  24. By your logic.. I should be planning for an infinite number of possible, catastrophic events. I simply do not buy into paranoia. Never have and guess what? I have a great life.
