  1. asking the wrong guy. I have never been a Twitter or X user. The only time I read tweets is when they pertain to updates on NBA or NFL playoff games. Being that I do not have the time to watch the games live.. I generally look for Twitter/X posts to get a feel for who is winning or losing. I know about its financial situation because we track it at my office.
  2. It is a privately run company, they are free to moderate the content. That being said, they should have eased up on the policing and let society decide the validity of the content. There is a forum called liberalforum.net that is full of virulent, adamant, white supremacists. They are free to be as vile as they want... and in return, they have very few regular posters and their revenues have dropped.
  3. X or Twitter is free to not have moderation. That's fine. When folks stop using it and they start losing revenues/profits.. then fine again. I have never been a twitter user and this puts the nail in the coffin for me.
  4. free speech does not mean free from consequences. Fine... tell the world that you think Hitler was correct. If the world does not agree with you then you have to deal with that. A lot of folks confuse being accepted with free speech. Just because the world does not agree with what you said does not mean that you were barred from voicing that unpopular opinion.
  5. Even if data is incomplete.. that does not tell you that crime is up or down. I am ok with incomplete. I am not one to fill in the blanks.
  6. It is interesting how they (the most passionate of internet forum posters) truly do think that they are making widespread, tangible impact. When you point out that the forum is very small and very obscure they go apoplectic about how they will not bow down to the man and that I (or you) have my head in the sand. Nothing stated on here ever is read by true decision makers so no matter how well reasoned, passionate, etc. it may be.. it is for nothing.
  7. True. I read it from cover to cover. That being said.. it is a very hard read. Hitler is not a good writer. So incredibly disjointed and circuitous. However, a few nuggets do come out of it. First, he did not care in the least about economics or economic theory. On four distinct occasions, he details how he finds economic theory to be noise and designed to get us away from the true goals in life. It is no wonder that the number of registered users has declined and the number of users who regularly post is down as well.
  8. Record Store Day Canada... would be amazing to be able to attend this. The US version is bigger and in most years better but not this year.
  9. Before coming here, I was a regular on liberalforum.org and liberalforum.net (mostly the same cast of characters). There was a surprising number of posters who were outspoken, self-identified white supremacists who would go on day after day about how Hitler was such a great guy just misunderstood. don't shoot the messenger. If you want to see it.. just go on over to liberalforum.net.
  10. this does not speak well for Americans.. So many bright, qualified, and capable people that could possibly do this job and yet we have these two. Biden does not have the energy or wherewithal and Trump... smh.
  11. If you put all of my responses to you today (april 18, 2024) in a word document and do a ctrl+F and enter "bet".. you will find no results. You responses.. of course but nothing written by me has the word, "bet". This is what bias and partisan attitudes do.. they keep you from seeing real life. "What is" is not the same as "what should be"
  12. I never mentioned the word, bet, so you are really veering off the path. https://www.espn.com/nba/recap/_/gameId/401654659... here is the published result. So if I state that that the 76'ers won 105-104... what agenda do I have?
  13. https://www.bea.gov/news/2024/us-international-investment-position-4th-quarter-and-year-2023 now this one is interesting.
  14. "bet you said that I lost" Hmm... your bias is showing again. I never wrote the word, "bet" in the post that you are replying. So if Philly did not win by that score then who did? this should be interesting.
  15. I do not know personally anyone who is ashamed of it or brags about it. It is viewed in the same way as a traffic jam. Unpleasant.. you get around it and move on.
  16. So what is the problem with stating simple obvious fact? You can do a simple web scrape and find that covid is not the number one story. Why? Who knows. Should it be? I do not care. However, I detect that your bias precludes you from acknowledging simple fact.
  17. https://www.bea.gov/news/2023/personal-consumption-expenditures-state-2022 personal consumption expenditures are up as well.
  18. That is not the point and you know it.. Scientific fact is well.. scientific fact. But according to you.. stating simple obvious fact must mean that I have some agenda. Oh.. so if I say that the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA defeated the Miami Heat in the 7-8 play-in game on april 17 by the score of 105-104.. i must have something against the Miami heat, the state of florida, etc.
  19. Just can't let things go... very interesting. So if I made a thread about the 76'ers being the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference in the NBA playoffs, you would chime in about gas prices. I thought you were better than this.. oh well.
  20. It is not an assertion.. it is simple verifiable fact. A calibrated thermometer is all you need and it matters not your views or opinions.
  21. I am just pointing out obvious fact. If I was to walk outside my office in Carson City and tell you that the sky is blue and that the temp was 58 degrees Fahrenheit.. you would tell me that I have something against the sun, hot weather, etc.
  22. another reason that folks have moved on.. their lives as of June 2022 were mostly back to normal (or pre-covid). When asked, most people only wanted life to return to normal. Well.. they got what they wanted so why keep rehashing it?
  23. bea and bls are not the same so no big revelation that they would differ.
  24. The data does not back up your case.. Data is more effective in convincing me than subjective opinions. If they had complete control.. no president would ever let the price increase. It went up during Trump's time.. but he has 100% control over it. It is all a matter of degree.. when you have a price of $4.00 per gallon and you parse out the factors... you find that Presidential decisions are not the lead variable.
